Transferring diamonds between characters

I read the guide on how to do this, but in buying zen, I see no way to cancel the transaction. Has this been changed?

After posting your offer, go to the Listings tab and you can cancel it there.

That's what I understood to do. But there was no choice to cancel on the Listings tab. There must be something I'm doing wrong, or not doing right. :)

With the information you've given so far, your most likely mistake: You posted an offer within the range that was traded and thus ended up actually buying some Zen.

To make sure that doesn't happen, you have to manually set the Price per Zen to 50 AD when you make an offer. Then you can go to the Listings tab and click the cancel button next to the listing.

I invite you to read the Economy FAQ in my signature - there is a step=by-step process detailed on how to transfer Astral Diamonds to another character. If that does't work, then I'd submit a bug report.

    1. Post to buy zen 5000 zen for 50 Ad is the max.
    2. Repeat up to 5 times.
    3. Switch character.
    4. Cancel your listing.
    5. Go to buy zen tab and withdraw.

I'd like to remind the community, though, that this is for transferring AD between characters on the SAME account ONLY. Transferring AD between two different account is not an intended use of game mechanics.

After I claim the Astral Diamonds, can I transfer them to another player?
. . . . . When claimed on your character, no - they are bound to you. However, you can use the AD Exchange to transfer them to another character on the same account and Shard. To do this, you first need to open up the Astral Diamond Exchange (The Gem Icon on the Menu Bar) and then you will need to place an offer to Buy Zen for Astral Diamonds (in effect, selling your ADs - you'll most likely want to place an offer for the lowest value so it's not sold. 50 is the lowest for ADs). Immediately after placing the Listing, cancel the Listing on your active trades tab. This will then place those Astral Diamonds into an Exchange Pool.

. . . . . You can then log out of that character and log in with a different character and go into the Exchange and claim them from your Exchange Pool. You cannot transfer Astral Diamonds across Shards however, as each Shard has it's own Astral Diamond Exchange and Auction Houses. You can only place refined Astral Diamonds into the Exchange.

. . . . . You cannot give or transfer ADs between accounts or other players. To gain ADs from others, you must either use the Astral Diamond Exchange to buy or sell Astral Diamonds or use the Auction House to sell or buy wares for Astral Diamonds. You can however make small donations to Foundry Authors upon completing one of their Foundry Missions when you rate and review it.

I'm still not able to use the exchange as I did before. There is no cancel available. For 50 zen, I paid 25,000 diamonds. My exchange balance shows 8200 diamonds and 50 zen. See why I'm confused?

. . . Now you have to press the Withdraw button the first tab. You cancel your active listings on the third tab.

The withdraw amount is 8200 diamonds and 50 zen, not the 25,000 diamonds. Also, on the listings, nothing shows as listed.

. . . Considering that you put a listing for 500 AD per Zen, I'd say you sold the offer which explains the 50 Zen in your balance. You should have done it at a rate of 50 AD per Zen so no one would buy it.

Oh dear, I did put in the 50 zen, it must have changed somehow. Thanks.

No, I looked at the log, I did use 50 zen. at 500 diamonds each. I now have 8200 diamonds and 100 zen in my exchange, after the "remove listing".

. . . On the first tab, second field (Astral Diamonds), you want that amount to be 50. You then adjust the first field (Zen) to match how much AD you want to deposit.

. . . So, if I wanted to deposit 50,000 AD, I would put enter the fields like this:

1000 Zen (first field) / 50 AD (second field)

I don't have anymore diamonds to play this with. :(

Thank you, I see now where I made my mistake.

. . . You could sell your Zen back and cut a loss. Son the 2nd tab, click the highest amount offer of AD and then type in 50 Zen in the first field. The second field, AD, will automatically fill for the offer you chose. That would at least give you some AD back to use.

. . . Zen is account-wide, so you can withdraw it on any character and it will be available to any character you're logged in with. So if you're going to buy some AD back and cut your losses, you can do that on the character you intended to transfer your AD to.

Okay - I see the confusion (you did NOT read my Economy FAQ, did you? LOL)

If you post an exchange from Character A, you must go to Character B to cancel the sale. Because if you post on Character A and then cancel the sale from Character A (the same character that posted) - then those AD go BACK INTO Character A's inventory and not the account bank.

You must post the exchange on Character A then you must use a different character to cancel the posting - THEN the AD will go into your account bank. This is just a little quirk (perhaps intended) about how the AD Exchange works.

Edit: okay I see the above comment - sounds like someone actually bought your AD for 50/1? Wow. Impressive. I don't know if it's bravado, incompetence or plain stupidity on the part of the buyer! LOL

Doesn't work that way. I do it all the time with creating the listing on character A and then cancel on Character A and it goes into the account bank. Do that all the time when I delete a character that has AD and I want to move over to my main.

The OP posted a listing to offer to buy 50 Zen for 500 AD each, rather than 500 Zen for 50 AD each. Of course it was filled.

That was my guess he listed it backwards and someone bought it heh. Sorry bout that OP. Also Rhoric is right, you can cancel on any character and itll sit in the zen/AD deposit withdrawl. Then you can draw it off any character on that same account. But it must be same account.

Nay, when you cancel an offer it goes into the AD Exchange Pool.

It's possible that when it went back into character wallet was not intended and they have quietly fixed it - which would be a great fix. Thanks for noting this. (I was basing the comment on my attempt to transfer about eight months ago - shortly after launch.)

Yeah any char can grab it once ya cancel :) I make the offer and immediately cancel listing with same char, then switch and claim, no issues. :)

Thanks for the update. I'll play test this tonight and then update the FAQ (Minor update, as I don't recall if it mentions the old mechanics or not). :)

I've done this a few times, and - thankfully - I've noticed what actually happens is, the offer is filled automatically from the lowest-priced zen rather than actually spending 500 apiece on them. Same with attempting to do it the other way around - if you accidentally put up a sell Zen for 50 (which I've also done on accident) it automatically fills it from the highest zen offer. So you never end up actually paying an unfair price for the zen you accidentally buy/sell if you aren't paying attention.

Yes, the exchange will fill an order with the closest listing. It doesn't actively cheat you. That's why the OP had an exchange balance of some AD remaining, in addition to the Zen purchased.
