So I saw this and everyone in guild channel immediately was like "omg how is that possible"

Someone must have gotten some extreme luck at 16:46 Server Time. Wish it had been me :D

I saw somebody who I think was called ORANGE get 2 or 3 epic rewards in a row a few times now , I'm guessing these people open dozens and dozens if not hundreds of lockboxes at a time.

    It could be luck.

    It could be something else.

Yes, this RC is selling positively oodles of adventurers and stuff as well. (As of this writing, I quickly found 25 Thayan relics and 9 equipment crates from that name, posted in large lots.)

If you ever question the legitimacy of the people rolling a streak of grand prizes like that, all you have to do is poke around the AH to find the postings of their lesser lockbox winnings and think to yourself just how many boxes they have to have opened.

The paranoia and conspiracy theory-ism surrounding such things is ridiculous.

Was going to add, it might give a trigger finger opening boxes after the Nightmare mount incident. Would be a interesting marketing conspiracy.....

Also selling coalescent wards, clearly bought with the trade bars from opening boxes. And undercutting everyone else by just enough to ensure quick sales without losing out on much.

    Give it a rest guys.

The rng like most mmo rngs are very streaky and rely on things like server time as a variable for the algorithm used. So if you get something good you should spam open as many as possible in that few second time window.

Yah I was kidding about the conspiracy, these f2p games have whales who spend $1000s on just boxes.

Ah people still pm me everytime i pull 4+ epics accusing of buying my AD from farmers, cracks me up. Sooner people realise there's easy money to be made from opening 1000's of lockboxes the harder it will be for me to make money :c

The problem is that stuff spams so f'ing frequently now, that I don't believe they are all genuine. Not saying they are bots or anything, but real? Not a chance. Yes, I know some are (my own name there was a clue), but not all.

. . .Yeah, I've seen people get a few goodies in a row. They're probably opening 10+ at a time. Wish I had that kind of luck... I've yet to get any mounts or companions from the locked boxes that I open... I just get junk that discourages me from opening more. :(

I only open lockboxes 10+ in a row and I do it by just mashing my mouse button. I've never won a mount, but have won several companions that way. I only do that like once a month or so (can't afford the cost of keys for more than that) - but when keys go on sale I'll buy a couple ten-packs, then save-up on boxes for a mass-open-mouse-button-mashing exercise.

I've found whenever you open only one or two or three at a time they usually just give junk. But when you go for ten or more as fast as you can your odds of winning something decent seem to be increased. At least that's how it feels.

The problem is I counted them, and I ended up with 18 boxes in 20 minutes. Not one of those were more than two in a row. In other words, there were someone getting more or less a box pr minute, with no more than two minutes between each. That's not 10+ boxes in a row. That looks a lot more like a pattern. But again, this is just speculation on my side. Not saying it's a scheme to make us want to buy boxes or anything, though I have seen far worse things like that in other games. ;)

It's the way the RNG works in this game. If you're opening enough boxes you will eventually get into a winning streak. That's my opinion.

    I am a theory-conspiracist, I tell you! LOL

To add (slightly) to the thread: I've also noticed this in the Fishing "bags" in the Winter festival: when I open a bag or two I often get junk. But if I save them up (sometimes up to 40 or 50 of each) and practice the same button-mashing I find I often get decent stuff like the Fish Bait and Mesmerizing Lures and Seals (I dunno what to use those seals for, tho').

I will confidently presume the same 'mechanic' works for lockboxes, too. ~cough~

i have a chat tab that tracks nothing at all, so the only thing that shows up are admin person has won items.

it seems to me that at x:11 and x:22 (at least for the past 5 day) is when i've seen the most posts about people getting stuff. and not a day has gone by where i have not see the same person get the same thing 3-4 times in this time slot.

we cant ever track it properly because we don't know how many has failed vs opened it. But it does seem odd.

I got only 1 pet and no mount from over 300 lockboxes at the preview server. Got the pet from the 3d new lockbox when they came out.

I'm a "whale" but I've never received 5 in a row... i did one time get a horse and companion back to back though when I opened a hundred or so boxes pretty much back to back...5 is impressive luck wish i knew who that was so I could follow them to Vegas and "play" on their table!

I got 2 Stags from opening 5 boxes, once. That's the closest to "in a row" I've gotten.
I've gotten a fair number of the "good things" out of lockboxes over the many months, but relative to how many I've opened .. the "luck" percentage is still very low. :D

Pah, the only Purple items I've ever gotten from a Lockbox is the Elven Gift Box or whatever it's called (woohoo Purple!... ummm, yeah, great) and 1 Purple Artificer (which did sell for a reasonable price on the AH, I must admit)

Never received a single Mount or Companion, and I've opened 100's of them, of all types so far dropped ... So I guess my luck is just BAD! ... I've given up buying keys now altogether, if I want something from a Lockbox, I'll just save up my AD and buy it from the AH ...
