Zen Shop Companion Questions & Feedback

So I got all excited seeing that there is, for a limited time, a special pack in the zen shop to get every single zen shop companion for one price. I even went and added up how much it would cost to individually purchase them all and it turns out to be a decent amount of savings.

I do have one question though: The pack itself is bind on pickup, but are the companions as well or are they bind on equip like they usually are when purchased through the zen shop? I would seriously consider purchasing this pack, but only if I can spread out the companions through my different alts. There are 20 inactive companion slots that come with the pack as well, do these go all to the purchasing character?

Any chance on getting clarification before the sale is over?

    Someone opened it in the legit store. The companions were BoE.

    Considering that all C-Store Companions are Bind on Equip and you can sell them on the exchange, then they are not account bound. So I could transfer the pets from one character to another to get the Collection bonuses, but some Companions would go to one character while other Companions would go to another, and the rest would be sold. So if you want 2 characters to have all the C-Store companions, then you have to pay $240.

    Meh, would only have considered it if it was account wide. Snapping up the companions while they're somewhat decently priced.

    Blue companions that cost 2500 instead of 2000. I think the tomb spider was the only blue companion at that price point.

    so 12k to buy them all in a pack or 16,200 if you bought them individually while on sale. Not bad if you collect pets and want them all.

    at current exchange just a little more then 5M AD to get this pack

    Now with lower prices on companions maybe Cryptic will lower the ridiculously high price for upgrading. 1.5 M AD to make a green companion to a purple, come on, has anyone ever done that??

    When companions become account wide I will buy them until then no matter what deal they offer I wont be buying them, and its obvious form the price drop that not many are buying them.

    I'm horrendously tempted (since I like to collect the pets) but still....most of the Zen pets I'm not particularly interested in actually using (even for their Active bonus), so the whole pack is probably not for me. Going to have to look at them all carefully and decide how many (if any) I'm willing to shell out bucks for. Maybe a few.

    Most of the time, so far, I've been more interested in the lockbox/Festival gained pets/mounts over the Zen-shop ones and collect mostly those. But I wouldn't mind a Hawk and a Stone or two for alts (got a cat for my main already...). Maybe a badger for my main, because it's cute. :P

    Not necessarily. Many who spend cash on the game (or save a lot of AD) may have bought one or two, but I doubt many have bought a lot of them (or only bought a Stone...). Which isn't surprising at all, whatever the price, because most probably dont' see much reason to have more than a few companions...until the Sword Coast aspect recently, perhaps.

    I think this pack is to encourage and/or give people who like the new "collection" or Sword Coast aspects a reason/incentive to get more of them. Not like they're permanently this price. Just a sale.

    But I do think Zen-shop pets should be account wide, like mounts, yes. Lockbox/festival/other reward companions can stay single-chr.

    It could also be a case of numbers of companions vs numbers of characters vs their usefulness. Let's say I was happy to just play 1 or 2 characters. Once I get my stone or w/e regular companion serves me well in regular play, why should I buy more companions? Yeah, the passives are nice, but not worth the $15-$35 they want for them. Now they're dropping them to the point where people may just buy them as a cosmetic/passive items...

    $100 right now with the zen bonus. Go in with a friend, and get 1/2 the pets for $50.

    . . . . . It would cost 16,200 Zen to buy all the included companions individually at their current sale price. Also, the pack gives 20 extra idle companion slots. It costs 100 Zen for 8 idle slots, so 20 idle slots would be about 250 worth of Zen. So, the Companion pack is worth, at current prices, 16,450 Zen. It's currently priced at 12,000 Zen.

    . . . . . The companions in are one-time claims and are Bind on Equip, just like all other individual Zen Companions.

    I did end up buying the pack and answered my own questions. To answer the second question I'd asked that hasn't yet been verified on here, the 20 inactive slots go to the character on which the pack was purchased/opened.

    Of course, since I have become sort of addicted to growing my collection bonus on a regular basis, I transferred each companion through my alts so they'd each get the bonus.

    Seems like quite an investment, although it's very cool Cryptic is putting it out, especially for those passionate PVE-ers or collectors.

    With the lowering of the companion prices in the Zen store I hope they will also look into lowering the upgrade costs. Yes one person here claims to have done it, and I'm sure there are more, but I'm also sure there are a much larger percentage of players here who haven't simply because the costs are ridiculous.

    I'd imagine a money sink works a lot better when more people are using it.

    That'd be nice. I'd like to upgrade both my Neverember Guard and Acolyte of Kelemvor, but when it comes down to the price, they don't really need upgrading. Of course I've now got a fawn and cave bear for my HR and I've yet to settle on a favourite companion for my TR.

    I feel kinda bad I've spent $0 on the game so far since I enjoy it quite a lot. It's just that everytime I calculate how far my money will go, I realise I just won't get very much for it and tend to settle with what I have. Edit: I've rectified the $0 thing now with the 15% bonus sale.

    I'd also like to upgrade my green mounts to blue.

    . . . . . I strongly agree. As much as I am so thankful and loving these price reductions and sales, I am still floored by the outrageous cost to upgrade companions and mounts. It is still far too expensive. I am a companion and mount collector and I refuse to upgrade companions and mounts because of the cost to do so. I have so many companions and mounts and want to upgrade them all to purple, yet I just cannot justify paying the outrageous prices to do so. If these prices were reduced over half what they cost now, I would definitely upgrade some of them, if not all of them.

    . . . . . If these prices were meant as an AD sink, then I have to say that they are not working. They are too expensive to be an adequate AD Sink. If they were MUCH cheaper, more people would use them and there-fore more AD would be sinked out of the market. I truly hope that these companion price reductions are the start of a wonderful trend of price reductions across the board and will soon encompass reductions in upgrade costs.

    is there any chance that special companions like purple and blue from zen market being made account wide have to pay for each toon is a bit costly not haven a go im just asking lol lol

    It is a bit costly. Just be glad mounts are account wide.

    So, the game has now reduced the price of Zen market companions drastically, even after the current discount event ends. As a result (Although this was true before as well), the cost to upgrade companion quality is now ridiculously overpriced. You could buy two blue companions or even a purple companion and something else on the Zen market for the same price as upgrading a blue quality companion to a purple one. 300,000, 500,000, and 750,000 Astral Diamonds are now too valuable on the AD exchange for any sort of upgrade to be worth it. It would be easier for players to simply save AD up to exchange for Zen and buy an epic companion straight off. I don't know if you already intend to change it, but if not, I think it's something to think about. Maybe prices changed to 100,000 Ad, 250,000 AD, and 500,000 AD? That's still overpriced, in my opinion, but far more manageable than what it's currently at. The best option for price changes would probably be 50,000 AD, 150,000 AD, and 300,000 AD, in my opinion, simply for the sake of not scaring potential upgraders off. Does anyone else think an AD reduction for companion upgrades is called for now? What price do you think is the best for the upgrades?

    I agree. The cost of upgrading a companion to purple level should be roughly the same as an equivalent purple companion.

    Would agree but I wonder if the companions that are initially white or green or blue, when they are made Purple are generally better than the bought Purple companions?
