Seriously though, couldn't you continually disrupt some other time zone's mornings and evenings? Middle of the North American workday just too lucrative a time for your international market?
I don't know if you realize it, but this patch is actually kinda in the middle of N. America prime play time. East Coast it's later so some may be in bed already, but it's the weekend so many may still be up. Here on the Pacific Coast, 9pm isn't late at all.
So it's not like N. American's who got off work today (Fri for us) and wanted to go home and play NW aren't being inconvenienced at all this time around.
That said...I suspect it has a lot more to do with when the company employees work. They live and sleep on US P.S.T. hours, I think, so that's when they try to get things done. In this case a last quick patch before their own weekend. I've been on the other side before, playing a game from the other side of the world, while residing in the US - same thing happens. Such is life.

In all seriousness, monster kill competitions are way more bugged out. I noticed I had a rank 3 result when I hadn't been in there for hours when I went fishing to farm lights.
That's an old bug, and it only affects the display. It doesn't clear from the last contest you were in until the current contest (that you aren't doing) ends, but you don't actually get anything.
On the next patch can you do something more substantial, like make the other parts of the winter event give you lights outside of challenges? Because fishing is currently the only one that will consistently give you lights and it's also the only one based on a combination of luck and boredom. I'd rather spend the event racing or fighting monsters on ice, but instead I fish because I have to actually choose between having fun or getting the fawn which I really really want/need for my CW.

Try the sword coast adventures version of the winter event. You can complete it easily with four free companions and the tutorial gives you a dog for free so even if you only have one or two white companions now, no biggie. And you can get all of the event awards except not a star that I've seen.

With fix this bug you broke ALT-TAB for all variations.
I noticed now when you fish twice a mob jump up or the fish hole constantly freeze so you have to leave. Is this stupid mechanic for bots? Nothing worse than you in the contest and rank 1, a stupid mob jump up and you stuck in combat for 20, 30 secs look up and now rank 9.

That was how it was originally, but on the first day it sort of stopped working. They fixed on the patch that night. You do know you spend more time running around to a new hole than it would just to stay at the hole you are at.

Yeah, there's no point running from hole to hole or chasing the colored lights. Just stay by one hole and wait for it to "open" again. It takes maybe 4-5 seconds. Or position yourself between two close together holes and bounce back and forth.
I see people running halfway across the lake to chase the colors...not efficient at all. Maybe they just have fun doing it that way, tho.

Ahem. Considering this exploit affected how points were calculated in the fishing contest, what do you think that note means?
