Add me to the list of players that desires a place for RPers to find each other and mingle.

I'm dumbfounded that this game has so many things that are 90% of the way to being awesome for RolePlay, but fall just short enough to be frustrating.

Edited to add: How about we get something like the summer festival zone (with an increased cap) open without any enemies? Add a tavern instance there and it's golden.

I haven't been able to finish reading the thread, but as a roleplayer and the leader of a large roleplay and Foundry creation guild, there's just one thing I consider to be an essential from Cryptic. The ability to get 20 people into a Foundry instance. I don't care how they do it, I don't care if I have to buy a Founder++ pack with a Wallet Destroyer +10, just make it so the world isn't limited to 5 people at once. This one thing would make Neverwinter have an amazing differentiator.

I completely agree with this, this would be awesome for RP purposes.

    - Designated Instances for Role Play.
    - Converting ALL of the game's already in place Taverns to single instance locations.
    - Assigning certain instances to be forcefully joined; An Option for roleplayers to use for Open World RP.
    - Walk-in static foundries. (i.e. Guild Halls)

This list is so beatiful in its entirety, but the first thing about Roleplay instances almost made me tear up. It would be so awesome to be in an IC world at last!

That can't be too hard to do, can it? And it will have an enormous impact on Roleplayers everywhere (well, in Neverwinter).

This beautiful idea was proposed in this thread (and I'm pretty sure it will have been mentioned before as well).

This is just another thread to try and give it the attention it deserves, it's a great benefit with minimal difficulties.

I don't think role-play instances would work. For any instance to be for role-play and nothing else would require active moderation and enforcement, as one can be sure that some will go to those instances and attempt to disrupt the role-play.

I doubt that Cryptic has the resources to provide that moderation and enforcement.

I would love a roleplay instance, but it would end up being very restrictive and require active moderation, as the other poster mentioned.

Is your name Drizzt, Bruenor or Ellifain? Not allowed in the instance.

Do you type in all caps or you don't use punctuation? Need to talk out of character? Not allowed in hte instance.

Oh, but roleplay is in the eye of the beholder? True. But as with anything, roleplay is unique in that it doesn't require anything more than imagination to accomplish. Any player can roleplay in any instance at any time. It is the one thing, outside base socializing, that can even be done outside of the game in oog chats or the forums.

So dedicated instance? I might love the idea, but I'm not sure if it's really a good one, or even feasible.

I haven't read through the whole thread so forgive me if this has been brought up. In Champions Online, when I was playing regularly, there was one particular instance for the shard that was the unofficial RP instance. There was also a really good website and forum for RPers that helped people connect.

All player driven (something roleplayers are well known for).

I haven't seen if Neverwinter has something similarly organized. Most groups I've run into try to take too much 'credit', or focus on more odd rules and such.

There's a timid line, in my mind, between relaxed and enjoyable roleplay, and that awkward moment when you realize the other guy is about to tell you he's half dragon and has a +5 pocket protector.

Hey all, the IC RP idea is very important to my own gaming experience, one I have yet to have in NWO that's... Neverwinter Online, not New World Order (smirks). I spent a little time looking for a guild to include In Character Role Playing with most simply not giving a reply. I would have loved to see a few guilds that do IC RP where a message could be sent from the guild to the requesting player along the lines of "Greetings *name*, you do not know me but I am a member of *NAME OF GUILD* and we have heard mention of your interest in us. Please meet an associate of the guild at *place* to discuss these matters over a pint of ale"
This would set the stage to establish a storyline of how one joined the guild, and if the gods be kind of heart, allow the RP to develop. Maybe if there are other members around, the new person could be "shown around" (meeting face to face) the other members. I'm hoping to find one such guild, but then again, maybe my expectations are a bit too high??

    Good evening all,

Long time MMO player and long time role player, both on the table top and in MMO's. I am familiar with the setting of Neverwinter and Forgotten Realms through both the computer games of the past and also TTRPG games with friends.

I have recently dipped my toes into Neverwinter and am enjoying the game so far, yes its dated in some aspects but its fun none the less.

My question is this. Is there role play in Neverwinter? Are there roleplay guilds? Is the floating tavern in the city an rp hub?

Is this forum even the right place to be asking these questions?

Thanks to all who take the time to answer!

    Cheers,
    Valdor
