I agree, largely the best value.

plus I'm an alt-o-holic :) I love playing different class and hate to buy things over and over again. If you (the general You.. not you personally) only play one character, I can see why to some packs are not a good deal :)

Hey guys, do you think we can change to the new paragon path after the patch? I guess it's kinda sucks if we got stuck on one path while we have new options to choose from :(

-- I'm the only one who thinks this whole ZEN thing is a steal ??????????? --- -- --
I love the game, nice design, many things to do, free to play..
I mean, love the game! and so I decided to try to buy something nice but .. it was the worst thing I could do, because instead of being satisfied with the purchase I actually felt dissatisfied and cheated.
I had the impression of having completely thrown my money for a miserable bag and other items of little value.

Practically I realized to have spent about half the money for a bag of holding ..
And then I could not buy just anything cool :\

So,, I tried the inviting 'lockbox' offer (pure gambling - in hindsight), and well, you can imagine that in the end I found myself with absolutely nothing

Cursed be the moment when I clicked that BUY ZEN button
    Thank you Neverwinter
I hope that you will make at least good use of my pennies

It just sounds like buyer's remorse to me. Yeah, there are some items that are over priced. My best advice to you is to be patient. Work on leveling up leadership, make sure to invoke, and run epic dungeons so you can sell/salvage items to make ADs. Then use the exchange to buy Zen with those, and eventually you will be able to get the things you do want...

This. Yes some will think certain items is overprice and some will not. My evidence? well, remember when some items was not selling as well and "overprice" those item prices eventually drop. Now current items are being sold (assumption) because the price retain and didn't drop in the "mass price drop" I personally usually wait for a sale or just trade AD for Zen and buy them.

I confirm it is, of course.. i made a mistake and want to share my opinion.

Actually i gave the money also for the game, not only for the reward, so i don'want it back or things like that.
I will not even want to make too much controversy, I just hope/want them to realize that maybe they might have exaggerated the value of these Zen in relation to the satisfaction of those who buy them, and see if I'm the only one to think so..

I am eagerly awaiting the announcement to see the contents of these packs. The $59.99 version in particular to see if the combination of the new epic companion and mount finally clears the cobwebs from my wallet. It seems that Striker/Controller companions are most common with these releases but I can always hope they accidentally slip in a healing companion.

Hopefully the the mount will be ranger-like and a dark colour. That glowy white unicorn mount seemed like a pvp pick me beacon accessory.

I don't know how many free to play MMO's you have played before Neverwinter but if this is your first one I will offer you a word of wisdom , all free to play MMO's usually have some type of gambling system in place with the promise of high value rewards if you get lucky , STAY WELL CLEAR of the gambling aspect of any mmo unless you know you won't regret losing your money , buy mounts and companions , buy bags and storage space , in fact just buy anything that doesn't involve rng .

the gaming culture sure is a strange one. i could walk into a jewelry store and peruse timex watches that i can afford, but then go over to the rolex case and start verbally bashing the store owner and rolex for putting such a ridiculous price on a simple WATCH. it tells time and these two look somewhat identical... even though the rolex might have some diamonds and made with platinum and gold. it's still a watch! obviously the addition of a premium item in any jewelry store is nothing but a scam and a rip off and a money-grab. do people do the same with the state lottery ticket dispensers? or standing outside of casinos in vegas?

i can understand that they might come here to provide their opinion on the prices in hopes that changes will be made, but the game is still under the f2p business model and any item in game can be acquired for free... if they lowered zen prices, then premium items could then be acquired rather quickly for free. there would be no incentive at all to keep playing if it was easy to acquire all premium items. the idea to use the free in-game-earned currency to subsidize the zen costs is usually lost on some people, but i don't understand why. don't want to spend $35 on an account-wide fast mount? earn 2500 zen in game and then spend $10 for it. it's still going to take time, but not quite as long. this is coming from someone who has the heavy howler and i used earned in-game zen to buy it. and i've had it for a while. i think it took me a few weeks of farming... so it is possible.

For me, their packs generally include unnecessary junk that they use as justification to raise the price of it without it actually being useful to me. Regardless, if it is over $25, I'm not even going to consider buying it. Now if it was $25 or less, but wasn't gear to new players or uniformed players who are unaware of what is actually useful in a pack, then I'd love to buy it. Based on their other packs though, it seems like I wont be interested in any pack they release in the future.

I think this issue is broken into 2 sub-categories:

    1. The packs cannot be bought using Zen, so people are a bit more critical of what they include.

    2. I can't say all gamers behave this way, but I've seen a lot of players use the term "need" in very loose ways - they "need" that T3 mount, or that greater enchantment...

It's hard to compare something you will have in your hand for a lifetime and beyond (I can give the rolex to my son, before I die) and digital license that I will never own.

But the rest makes relative sense.

PS I own a Rolex and a Timex, the differences in quality are significantly noticeable.

If you have the money to spend on it (Digital licensing). What you ask yourself is, will this buy me temporarily happiness for a duration acceptable for the money I spent :)

I see, but the packs should not be bought with Zen because the revenue gain from packs help promote the game being Free to Play and all.

I understand why some players would WANT to purchasable with Zen. That way, you can technically get everything free (including unique items) via Zen without spending any money and just spend time.

This is GREAT concept for the players, but bad for the business. The packs inject revenue into the game and pays the developers/programmers to produce more expansion.

It is already possible (with leadership and lots of farming) to get almost everything in the store via time and no money spent.

I think the current system is a good way to go.

Keep in mind that the actual expansion are FREE. The packs are the unique stuff that are fluff and unique to those who want to but it. You DON'T need it for the expansion.

Well being 40 and a HC gamer forever (and I do not consider NW HC), I just think the "Me" Generation feels entitlement towards way too many things. Everyone feels they "should be able to get this... or they should be able to have that"!

My question is... "Why? What did you do to earn it?" I mean seriously... it's a free to play game. I mean everything EXCEPT "paid for exclusives" you can get for free! And these exclusives by no means give any advantage to the buyer, that you cannot earn by grinding. Mounts of same speed? Check. Custom Garments? Check. Companions of same caliber? Check.

You can get all of that for free by playing... stop asking for the exclusives people paid for for free as well!

To date I've bought the highest tier for each pack. Why? Because I like the game, and believe in supporting the developers.

Agree. you put it WAY better than I did.

I bought the packs to support the game. Now The exclusive DOES have one major advantage that I see. Account wide access to companion (to those who may not know it, but companions in the packs can get redeem to all character and future character. To an alt-o-holic like me, this is great. I don't have to buy companion for each character)

Were I to guess - based on previous packs - I'd say there will be the $20 'starter' pack with a few small items and a companion, and the $60 "mount / companion / +" pack - the "+" in this case, I can see being a pack of reagents for the modified fusing system and maybe a bow / paired weapons set (a la the Greycloak weapons) for your shiny new ranger....

Don't quote me on that though.

It got dropped down to blue quality after one of the patches.

You do realize that the ZEN bought with AD is bought by players first right?
I actually think they would make MORE money by making them available through ZEN as people would mass buy ZEN for these packs through both real money and in game but even those Zen that are traded for AD in-game came from someones wallet, then the in-game ZEN price would probably be at max (500 AD per ZEN) right where they want it to be.

To start off I'll say I'm one of "those" people who have real money I can spend, and like others, I buy the full packs to help support the game devs. I also spend some few dollars each payday to buy Zen to spend on the "frivolities" like dye packs, companions and costumes.

So on to topic, for my latest RP "toon" I have rolled an Elf GWF called Aquitasia, whom I've paired with her sister, an Acolyte of Kelemvor, called Veritasia. I am dying my GWF's armor with the Moon Shadow DP to (sort of) match the Kelemvor gear the AoK wears, and I was going to get her a Dawn Unicorn mount but, I'd like to know what or if the Shadowmantle pack will have as a mount? I don't want to spend 4K Zen now only to discover the DU comes with the pack, or there is a more suitable (read: colour scheme/themed) mount in the pack.

I'm not asking for inside information, just if a dev could perhaps give a very vague hint that it is worth getting the DU now or not? Pweety Pwease???
Is it finally a T5/U/T6 KDF Science Ship?

Am i the only one who would really like to see something other than just another Mount in the pack? I mean i would like to buy the pack and support the devs that way, but since i already bought one 110 Mount, another one is pretty useless and just takes up Space in your bags..

I know the same can be said about companions, but atleast they are a bit fun to play around with and serves a pourpose in that gateway game they are planning..
