The 100 mount

Because why not? you already charge 40 for a single mount. While we're at it, why not charge 100 bucks each. Think about the mounts you could re-skin and name it unique. I mean already charging 40 bucks for a mount. Unless this mount is account bound or goes faster then others.

I fail to see the value. My two cents

    Actually this mount is account wide, as are all of the zen shop mounts.

    None. The OP said that $40 was too much for a mount unless it was account-wide. I pointed out that it is.

    There is no value. The unicorn is just another re-skinned mount that took almost no effort, but people will buy it. I have given up questioning PWE/Cryptic's tactics because they obviously know what they are doing when it comes to making money. I posted suggestions all the time about how they could increase their Zen sales and now I finally realize they do not need any advice from me. No matter how overpriced an item is someone (Or almost everyone) will buy it.

    Look at all the people riding around on Rank 3 pig mounts. I swear almost everyone on my server has upgraded their pig mount to rank 3. I am sure some of these players made their AD in game but there are so many running around that it is obvious many opened their wallets to pay for this upgrade. There is nothing wrong with giving money to the company, and someone has to do it or the game will not survive. I am just shocked so many did it to upgrade a mount when almost everyone agrees that it is a horrible investment. To each his own. I guess if I was going to upgrade a mount it would be one of the pig ones because they do look funny.

    So it is $40. You feel it is expensive, but I think NW doesn't think so. People are still buying them.

    Why do I think that?
    Many items in the Zen store price was reduce a couple of months ago. If the mount was expensive and NOT being sold enough, they would have reduce it also (to entice players)

    It is more of a cosmetic really (account wide) but super fast mount is not needed in NW IMO (other than PvP rushes)
    To grow old is inevitable, to grow up is optional.
    Please review my campaign and I'll return the favor.

    I see no problem with 4k zen for the designer top of the line 110% mount available to all your characters (even ones that you haven't created yet). I am personally fine with my 2500 zen clydesdale that provides the same utility and to all 6 of my characters (up to 50 if I were to buy the slots). So to say they are forcing you to spend 40$ is a dumb statement, at worst you have to spend $25 for fastest mount for every character. You can also do surveys (so easy), or earn ~850k AD. Considering 850k AD is less than you'd expect to pay for just your main hand ancient weapon on my characters it's a pretty darn good deal for the fastest possible mount for every character you ever want to create.

    Edit: Why does everyone complain about this???? It's obvious that you aren't going to buy it so you don't have to worry about the price. Those that are buying it are allowing you to play for FREE!! you should be thankful that they are buying these mounts and not calling them stupid every chance you get.

    Be careful what you wish for.

    Some reasoning of the pricing Im sure is from player feedback from other PWE games. I remember looking at possibly playing RaiderZ when it was first released. I kept up with the forums, but the overall population/state of game was a bit worrisome. (Bugs/exploits/glitches; sounds familiar eh?) Many people openly voiced they hated the gambling boxes and would much rather have the mounts in the zen shop for $30-40 dollars. I remember those threads/posts specifically because when I started playing this game, I saw the price of the mounts and they matched up.

    PS some of the mods here are mods there. Pin and lew I remember. Im sure they can recall those posts and calls for $30-40 mounts instead of random gambling boxes.

    PSS $30 for account wide premium mount I have no quarrels about. I have an armored bear and absolutely love it.

    It's $40 optional mount.

    I'm very happy with my $25, 110 speed, account-wide (8 characters) mount. That I spent.... in-game effort to buy.

    Would I ever spend $40, or the in-game equivalent in AD, on a mount? No. Could I have? Sure, I've gotten close to $100 worth of zen via the AD exchange. But I don't have to unless I feel like it - all my characters can ride just as fast for a good bit less.

    Similarly to how I can buy a Honda to drive on the highway, but could have the option to spend Way Too Much for a car with a fancier model & skin.

    Gambling boxes are their bread and butter (assumption here) mainly they keep coming out with them (STO does this as does other MMO) The big difference between PWE and other MMO companies that PWE give you an option to get those keys without spending a time (but you DO SPEND in TIME) which is pretty cool.

    Gambling boxes are the bread and butter of the majority of F2P MMOs. Im stating what was on their forums, posted by players from that game.

    even GW2 has them now and that's b2p

    People also buy ciggrates. It doesn't make it good for them. I'm shamed by people dropping so much money on a free to play game. Free to play indeed but pay to win or pay 2 play. I already have a spider mount on all my alts. I don't need this. The cost is 40 for account bound..should been anyways. This deal is best compared to buying them seperately. 40 dollars..I wonder how they estimated that value.

    Really? Ashamed by people spending their own money how they like? What effect can that possibly have on you? Considering you have, yourself, purchased every major package offered from HotN to Fury. Do you really think you are on a place to point fingers and judge others?

    The ONLY shame here is that you cant spend your money and enjoy it.

    In this game, you can get the Zen store items without spending any real money, provided you are willing to wait. If you are not willing to wait, then you are going to have to cough up the dough.

    I saved up and got the T3 horse. I've been tempted to get other mounts, but weighed the pros and cons of getting them, and decided against it. Each person has to decide what to spend their Zen on. If too few people buy these expensive items, the devs/PWE will take note, and adjust accordingly. To-date, (and I've been around since mid-Beta), I have not seen a dusk unicorn yet in-game...

    the zen store is optional. you don't have to spend a penny on this game. but you can acquire zen in-game as well so you can get zen store items and still not spend a penny on this game. isn't that great?

    I don't see what the OP problem is? if he wants a fast mount but is unwilling to spend 40 dollars then why not do what I did and just buy a Nightmare horse or whatever it's called , it is 110% speed and that's all I care about when all is said and done.

    I even saw one of the new Stag mounts in the Beholder AH a few days ago for a little over 700k AD ( at which point I kicked myself since I bought my nightmare for 850k or so lol )

    i think they secretly want it but don't want to grind or spend money to get it. OR they're more doom and gloomers wanting this company to fail so they start threads like this to try to spread misinformation. since i've been playing this game, zen prices have already been reduced once and when they did that, they actually had a sale on the items that had their prices reduced. i guess if you can't have your way, then... yeah.

    The OP is a HotN and has the Fury pack. He has both the spider and the dawn unicorn. So its not a question of need. And he claims its not a question of want. So Im honestly not sure why he is all upset over a mount he neither wants or needs.

    I don't have a problem with the mounts at $40. Mounts are one of the better Zen shop deals in my opinion. I bought the Howler before they lowered the price. But I am a bit confused. They said they were lowering the mount prices because they were listening to player feedback. Then they turn around and add new mounts at the old price? The price they just indirectly said was to high?

    The only reasoning I can come up with is that they are feeling things out to see if the market will tolerate these so-called "high end" mounts, vs the more utilitarian 2500 Zen T3 horse. If it does well, then they may continue to develop regular, exotic, and now high-end mounts at each price point...

    Because the $40 is just a cosmetic improvement over the $25 basic Rank 3 mount. You are only paying extra for cosmetic look.

    This is a moronic thread. Who cares how much they charge for items that don't effect you?! My friend paid $200 for the spider (sure he got other stuff too but the point is he would have paid $200 for that spider alone as he has the $ and he wanted it. Good for him and for the game the more people buying stuff the more (hopefully) free content we'll see).

    it's for collectors. you don't have to buy it, you could just buy the stormraider. I don't see why you're complaining.

    Seeing as you can grind AD and exchange for Zen, as well as the mount being account bound. I don't see the harm in it.
