I know you can check the Campaign Window to see where you can get these weapons, but when I saw the tooltip on the orb that says it can be gained through Weaponsmithing, I had doubts. Isn't it supposed to be Artificing for orbs?
I checked the wiki on Artificing but didn't find the fomorian orb there. I want to know for sure how I can get it before I spend time and resources leveling Artificing to 20.
Yes, from artificing. Recipie will be there, when you get first piece of orb. Requires at least +100% from assets to craft.
I thought that all of the new weapons are only from weaponsmithing?
Edit: Just checked and I can confirm that the Orbs and Symbols are in the ARTIFICING profession and NOT in the WEAPONSMITHING profession... thanks Cryptic.
By making all of these weapons BoP, Cryptic is forcing players who want it to purchase crafting assets in order to get these items made rather than simply spending AD for them... Cryptic wins again
On further thought, players will be able to purchase the required components for the weapons on the auction house/trade chat, (AD or Zen exchange,) then they will need the assets, (AD or Zen exchange.) So, it's a double wammy.
Yeah and the prices on tools were already friggin high. Now its gonna be a hell of a lot worse . And you can't really farm dungeons for drops from chests now. Friggin marketing division wins again.

i havent seen the fomorian orb yet, only done malabog a few times since patch. but i unlocked the cleric weapon on the list, the recipe will reveal itself when you pick one up.
Also according to the recipe, you do not need 100% quality, only 2x file. unless someone can confirm otherwise.

It is a lot less of that, and more that if you want the awesomeness of the orb, then you put in the time and effort to do the artificing profession, rather then simply whip out your AD card. That's why it is BoP, its the reward for having completed the profession.

I could buy this argument maybe if there was a way to acquire the tools/assets in game.
There is little time or effort involved in leveling a profession to 20 -the ones I have leveled took between 7-10 days. Perhaps the new profs are different. The difficulty comes in asset acquisition: the choices are purchase from AH at incredibly high prices (whip out AD card), or purchase directly from cryptic (whip out CCard).
BoE is also a reward, an even greater one I would say, as item's could be sold, instead of haveing a one and done profession. Of course, we know cryptic doesn't want us to profit from crafting (or anything else for that matter (DD BoP)), which is why they flooded the game with dragon eggs. I would expect someday to see the epic pants and shirt to also be BoP, or a continuation of devaluing the market for them.

With all due respect, I wouldn't believe that for a second. Micro-transaction MMOs is all about whipping your AD/Zen/$$ card. Forcing a player into a lengthy farming/crafting process, will create more opportunities to spend AD/Zen/$$ than simply offering it for sale right off the bat.
Let's be honest, whether a CW gets his Fomorian Orb or not, it will make absolutely no difference in terms clearing the current content. It is more for bragging rights. So it is more of a way to keep the attention of the current player base until an "actual" expansion comes and/or new classes/paragons are introduced while churning profit up until then.

It's more for epeen and bragging rights, nothing more. The amount of time and money you spend on getting the formorian items can easily be spent on better enchantments/upgrades. The upgrade from Ancient to Formorial is so miniscule, you can barely quantify it.
Just like the upgrade to epic augment companion from blue...750k for nothing.
No not even in the same league. LOL the 750k upgrade on Augment companion was a practical joke. But I give them credit, it clearly stated how much of an upgrade you were getting. So there was no bait and switch. Anyone who actually spent the 750k shouldn't really complain.
In any case I am all for buffing all the non-augment companions anyways, so a very small step in the right direction.
I just acquired Malabog's Quillion Fragment today. Dropped from second boss (Malabog) in Malabog's Castle.
Exactly which fragments are needed to craft the Fomorian Orb ?
Will not use this fragment until I understand and have everything which is required.
Currently at rank 4 Artificing.
I have 5 available profession slots.
All my professions are low level, except for leadership at level 17 and Alchemy at level 7.
How much time/effort and AD will it cost to level Artificing to 20 and to obtain required profession resouces/assets to craft the Fomorian Orb?
Can you point to something from Cryptic/PW that says Artificing? If you look at the store page for this orb, it says it's made in weaponsmithing.
Go to the Artificing profession and unfilter it so that you can see all jobs. You will then find the orbs. Cryptic failed at informing players where the orbs and symbols come from.
1 Artificing Person Rank 3
2 Files
1 Malabog's Stone Fragment
1 Malabog's Quillon Fragment
1 Malabog's Riser Fragment
10 Ornamental Mithral
Ouch. Total cost of the three fragments are above 2 million AD in the auction house now. Looks like I'm not going to grab my hands around that orb anytime soon...

I agree. #10char
Why would i need to spend tons of AD to buy proffesion assets from AH or spend Rl money to get from zen to lvl up the prof and craft the orb?
Thought our characters in game are adventurers and not crafters or sth?
If you want give option craft or raid.
Is what the dude above says, you now need to whip out AD or CCard
