Please punish people who quit a PVP game.... and go AFK!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have just played about 15 PVP matches in a row, and NONE finished above 5v2....
In most matchies the other team Quits within 5minutes to leave it 5v0
The "fullist" a game has been is me and 1 other Vs 5 enemy.....

Do something like ban them from PVP for 2 hrs if they quit....

If they disconnect then can rejoin within 3-5minutes (upto you... you can do test to see) if they dont rejoin in that time then give a 2hr ban.... (or actualy if they rejoin same PVP by the end of the game there is no ban)...

Now i know some of you will say thats not fair, if you disconnect its not your fault.... but if this becomes such a problem that you are disconnecting everyday 1+ times, then you shouldnt be playing in team games as its not fair on the others....
I have been dissconnected by the internet 2 times in 3 months.... and i would HAPPILY take a 2 hr ban from PVP (cause i can still do other stuff) for the great good of the game because i have just wasted 1hr 30mins to get 1 desent match :(

I'm so p*ssed off right now at these lazy HAMSTER, cowereds that obviously have no skill so quit!!!!

    TL;DR

I agree that they should just remove pvp from the game.

At the very least, if you leave a pvp match early, or que for pvp, you should have a 36 hour ban from the game.

This is an issue that have been bothering many pvp players like myself, although it can be fixed with a very simple solution.

Since the game allows you to reconnect in a short period of time, player that do not return to a match should be penalized as follows:

Quit/DC a match: 15 minutes unable to queue for a new Domination PVP match
Quit/DC 2 matches in a row: 60 minutes unable to queue for a new Domination PVP match

Yet until Cryptic gets rid of bots it will only punish those people who only leave when their team is full of bots.

I leave any match that has 2+ bots on it and yet you want me to be punished for NOT wanting to play on a team with cheaters?

I think quitters is probably the last problem on a long list of PvP problems.

And if you fixed all the ones above it, people would probably stop quitting matches.

Eh, questionable. I'm not really all that into PvP and don't focus on it, but I have seen a lot of players ragequit when they're just not very good. GF's who don't know how to block and then get shredded by everyone else, then they drop and complain. CW's who don't teleport away or use crowd control skills to prevent other characters from coming into melee range die, drop and complain. The list goes on.

Why does everyone ignore 'the elephant in the room'?

    The issue is:
    Why do people quit?
    not
How do I penalize those that do!

Look hard at what is wrong with PvP at present
    • bots
    • no gear/skill matching
    • bots
    • it's simply is not 'fun' playing 'bots'
    • bots
    • poor maps
    • bots
    • poor rewards
    • poor fixes to maps
    • the queue that cannot find 5 people (not bots) to play in an instance and then make sure that those 5 get ported into the instance
    • did I mention BOTs?

Once these are sorted maybe, just maybe it will be time to penalize players but at present why should someone waste time in this?

Sorry but what a load of RUBBISH!!!
They quit because the maps are poor??? what did they expect it to be different from the last 10000 matchies they QUIT!!!?? If they dont like the map dont join and then quit... what are they Gold fish?

As for bots... it might be a problem, but I havent suffered from this at all and i KNOW i havent played with bots as i have been left 1v5 far to many times so they cant be bots as they left and i know im not so 3 out of 5 matchies have had no bots just a p*ssed of player!!!

i dont really think they will care.

all a cooldown will do is to make anyone with a slight interest just avoid pvp altogether....hence even a 'smaller' population than it has now.

It will stop people for quitting for trivial reasons, and make them more likely to try and get a win if down. It will also discourage people from leaving to surf queues for a winning team to get points/ad/daily or whatever quicker since it will be more effective to stay in game even if on a weak team.

This is why most other mmos have a penalty for leaving.

Also note that such a "penalty" is actually protection for players and the game's overall pvp culture not a punishment.

Finally, you say that being able to leave a pvp game with no penalty is the prerequisite for wanting to even participate for some players. I cannot think of the words to express my feelings about such a sad comment, well not any I should post on the forums anyway.

If you want to solve the problem with people leaving pvp and bots.

Cryptic Listen to the people everyone has great points.

But I'd like to add my 2cents.

Just make pvp all about Ranking or titles.

    STOP giving away Glory forever!

Cause what you just did was bring back more botters to farm AD to --> ( Salavge )

    And what will that do?

Well lets just say I will stop playing this dumb game all round.

Pvp is great, fun to trash talk with people not fun when the rage quit not fun having bots in the group.

Pug groups are great, get to see many guilds as well as see skilled players.

So whateva if you don't take this post to mind.

Not here about grammer nor spelling just trying to be heard like the rest.

I think the elephant must have stepped on your head.

Players basically abuse the leaving system, leaving for reasons such as:

    Check team gear-if low leave
Player runs to mid while 4 others go close base- leave
Player is cleric and doesn't get HAMSTER licked by team- leave
Player doesn't like name of someone on team- leave
Player feels like trolling rest of team- leave
    Player gets phone call- leave
Player gets killed a few times- leave
Player thinks team is not doing what they should- leave
Rogue is on enemy team- leave
Looks like team might lose- leave
    Not getting top place-leave
One player leaves so now it is 4/5- leave
This turns into 3/5 so leave etc

There is a reason why most other mmos with structured pvp have either a leavers penalty or a rebalancing system. If you have a brain that reason should be crystal clear.

Maybe instead of punishing players that leave they should reward players that stick around and are active in the match (i.e. not afk). Perhaps even so far as, if you are 5 vs 2, you get more glory losing on the 2 team than winning on the 5 team. Just an idea.

Lol I thought of a sure fired way to stop leaving!

When you enter the match 10k AD is taken from you, when you complete the match it's given back =P boom no leavers.

If you can't amass 10k AD you probably need to run dungeons rather than q for pvp anyway lol.

I personally think there is more of a need for a report system. That system needs to be for anything from sportsmanship to leavers. If you are going to push pvp as an aspect of a game there needs to be a support system in place. Obviously many of pvp reports are rubbish but when players get constant reports the issue may be a little more than just ragers. Even if only one action is done a week/month it can be a deterrent and sometimes just saying something about a match can be relieving. I queue a lot for pvp but only get a feel good match 1 in 8, win or lose. I just wish there was more of a sense of policing rather than a free-for-all rage fest. Maybe even an rep system(where you can give a head-nod to good players or even a tip like foundry.

The problem with quitters is that they are rewarded in that they can get into another game right away. Those of us on the winning team are stuck in the game until the points tick up to 1000. (remembering to move your character every minute to keep from being marked as idle) And then the game ends and you may see ,"NO REWARDS". So yeah, we are punished for winning in a way we cannot control.

The quitting has gotten out of hand. We rarely get to finish a match that doesn't end up with us standing there remembering to move our characters while the points count up. A 15 minute deserter debuff seems reasonable to me. It will still suck A LOT if you get dc'd and get the deserter... but it would only be 15 minutes. 15 minutes would make it more beneficial for people to stay and finish the losing match than quit.

I don't care how *you* feel about independent-minded, under-geared ESL bads who run into walls, facetank GWFs, or hide behind stairs for entire matches. *I* feel that they're wasting my time.

Until they can guarantee a minimum level of skill from each player, I reserve the right to leave.

I agree that leavers should be punished, but not for the times suggested. They should only be unable to queue for a number of minutes imo. Nowadays I've decided to just leave 4v5s if we're getting absolutely stomped since I afked and didn't get the glory for it. There was just no point hanging around dealing with the 1 leaver, nor playing when there's definitely no chance of winning. If the scores aren't too bad though I can stick around and hope for the best.

They have a right to leave. Level 60 PVP is insanely imbalanced. Also...

    1. Something comes up in real life.
    2. You queue only to find out one of your teammates didn't queue with you.
    3. You're trying to do a PMvsPM and you get the wrong team.

The list goes on. Let them leave.

    1) Fair enough, something as simple as a queue penalty won't affect them
    2) It'd suck, but a pvp isn't too long. You should finish the match rather than letting 4 others down.
    3) Dunno what PMvsPM is, but like #2 you shouldn't let others down.

    PMvsPM is Premade vs Premade.

In regard to #2, I'm not letting four people down, I'm letting one person down: the one person who someone got into our premade when we queued with five and one strangely got kicked.

Quiters aren't so much a problem as the ones that party and have 2 wizards and or 2 TR's . Come on really? Where is that a good balanced PVP. Sometimes I don't blame the quitters. What is the winning team really winning and how?

People that leave have a reason why they leave. Not because of bots, or lack of motive to play but because of privileged advantages that certain players have. Fast Mounts, Tenebros enchants, Immunity enchants, and other advantages that just destroy the opposite team before they even capture base 1. I mean if your team is fairly balanced with good gear score ratios and at least 3 other members who have fast mounts than it's not that bad. But more often then not the que system isn't perfect and you end up being matched up with either bots or players that just hit 60 and have no proper gear. There are many variables as to why a team could loose or leave, all of which should be considered in pvp balance.

I agree. Very well said. I've been in many PvP's where as stacked as I have my lvl 60 character I can't beat 2 wizards, 2 rogues and some of the advantages some other players have. It can make one angry, even when you are doing it for the fun of it.

There isn't much I dislike about the Neverwinter community however, this topic is near the top of my list.

This morning, I disconnected 8 times, 3 times just as my queue came up, in PvP (after the third, I decided to quit trying). Twice I HAD to respawn in PE.

I felt really really bad, for the PUG's I was in, but should I be penalized for what amounts to server side lag? I used Tracetcp to trace the routes to the game server and port. My ping, even during extreme rubberbanding, was fine. In contrast, my personal server and other games I play, rarely ever have this issue.

It seems to me that Perfect World is too cheap to spend monies on infrastructure and enough servers for the load. (Note the throttling of patches). Should I, and those with the same issue, be held responsible for that?
