Everquest Next and Elder Scrolls Online... both are ramping up for Beta and release... a direct competitor to Neverwinter.

What plans to you have to compete or keep pace with them?

Um.... none. I'm waiting for Phantasy Star 2 Online.

And still playing STO (I'm more Sci Fi bent, but have always been a fan of the Forgotten Realms). :)

"Hah! You are doomed! You're only armed with that pathetic excuse for a musical instrument!!!" *the Savage Beast moments before Lonnehart the Bard used music to soothe him... then beat him to death with his Fat Lute*

Per the RoC 3.10, the only place we can allow this thread is in Off Topic. Sorry!

There will be no contest between other mmos and this game. They will mop the floor with this game. Elder scrolls isnt out till 2014 also. The beta has started and it looks pretty good for a beta release so far.

I am waiting on Wildstar thats going to sneak up on this game and all the others.

Based on the wording of the OP it sounds like you're directing this at the devs of NWO, and I can't imagine they'd directly respond. There isn't any good way to go about saying how they'll compete with some specific game, so a good response will be along the lines of how they'll compete with the market at large. Even then, it's more focused on "this is what we're planning on doing with our game to provide a fun experience for you" rather than "Hello Kitty Island Adventure has some pretty cute pets and a great housing system, so we're going to totally rip it off". In general, the kinds of things you read in the official news, announcements, and patch notes.

If the devs care about the long term success of the game they'll do whatever they can to make the game the best it can be within their vision of what it should be. It will not be immediate, it will not be a knee-jerk reaction to whatever new shiny comes along, and it will certainly not be chasing after shadows of what may come to pass based on what is being hyped the most.

Besides, there's no saying yet that those games will be any good. Remember FFXIV? Hyped for months, many people were looking forward to its release because it looked like it was going to be incredibly awesome. And then what happened? It was basically in open beta for three years because they botched the release so badly, so much so that it nearly brought Square Enix to ruin and it's the reason that I now refuse to buy any game without a demo first. I'm hearing good things about the re-release, but then again I heard a lot of good things about the initial release... I hear a lot of good things about everything, actually. It means nothing when the game isn't even out, and continues to mean nothing until I try it for myself. All that really matters is "am I having fun?", and you can't answer that question about a game without playing it.

tbh, forgeting the lack of content and some major issues with bugs we have here atm, i installed ESO and i was... "wtf, omg, what is this?!" Ill just wait for 22th August to get the new content and the fix of some issues we have.. cause honestly since i hited 60 on my caracters i tried severeal other games, while module 1 dont come, and man... no comparation possible. I mean only the F2P games tho. And tbh NW is quite F2P to me altought ppl say cause i havent spent any € yet and im pretty sure that if i gave more time on a specific class here i could be full geared and all.

All that said ill just invocate till 22th August :)

. . . . . Yeah, I don't think there is any need for competition between MMORPSs. Especially with titles such as both the Forgotten Realms (D&D) and The Elder Scrolls. Both Realms are pretty grand and each have enormous fan bases, which many I know personally share the love of both. Nay, both shall carry on until the end of time in any form, there is no need to compete. I still enjoy Star Trek Online on occasion, there will always be room to indulge in my other fantasy loves. I have been craving to play my Reman again... but Neverwinter, the Realms, have my attention quite well. Indeed.

. . . . . The Elder Scrolls will be grand indeed, this I am sure. Just as I am sure these Realms are grand. I'm not one that hops games because one is better than the other. Nay. I play the MMORPGs because I love the Setting, the Stories, the Imagination, and the Fun. The Realms, for me.. is infinite in it's ability to deliver all of this... just as Nim is able too. Aye.

I agree, I like to mix things up, I'm excited about ESO but I doubt it will be the end of Neverwinter for me. I will be very interested in how ESO work there pricing. I'm not a fan of the system here. micro what? If they had a sub option I have no doubt I would be a sub. I just like to know what I'm spending each month. I like the option of all myself. Free to play - limited, Sub - all inclusive and Micro for the extra's.
