It's more important to balance the current classes before adding a new one.
I mean GWF needs more utility in a party, something that TR/CW can't do better. I have always wondered why the GWF in this game couldn't knock down the enemies, like the berserker in RaiderZ. In that game, the "GWF" could control the enemies effectively and literally tie their targets to the ground. But not in NWN, a CW or a TR will always be better in Castle Never (with same gear).
Also, devs seem to announce the new content many weeks before they release it (Bound on Pickup, GG, etc) and they have not announced a new class yet.
I personally have gone into maintenance mode until Ranger is release. By that I mean I log in once a day to get my celestial coins and use the gateway to continue to level crafting. Of course, I am not buying any ZEN. (shameless attempt to use my wallet to hurry release)

I think you are right. I absolutely love the ranger class, it's my favorite PnP class, next to the druid. So ya, a few things are certain (for me). First, new classes are going to be needed soon, to spice things up. And second, level progression needs to slow some. I level up my characters way too fast, and I'm going as slow as I can stand too, getting as much of the lore as I can, stopping to read (or listen to) everything that comes my way. It's an action combat game, I get that, but 1.5 to 2 levels/hour?
To add:
I'm just not sure why they made classes the way they did. Like why a fighter can't choose his path as he progresses, rather than just having to decide up front to be a GWF. Or, why am I a Trickster rogue? I'd much prefer to just be a "rogue", and have a choice as to how I develop my rogue "career", as I go, by the feat & skill choices I make. You know, a little closer to the real classes in D&D. I don't mean to be baggin on Cryptic here, but that is one of the things that DDO has going for it. (I REALLY never thought I'd say something like that since I've waited 3+ years for this game to be real). But as much as I really enjoy playing through the combat and discovering the lore, and as much as I enjoy the interface and controls and how combat works in Neverwinter, missing classes and the absence of class progression choices has also renewed my interest in playing DDO. Isn't that funny!

People are speculating that rangers will be included with the Feywild expansion, so mid-August, maybe ? Just a guess, though - nothing more - I have no inside information
Hoping for improvements...

Would be nice, but if they'd include the Ranger with the Feywild thingie,
they would advertise it on the Feywild Info page.
Which they don't. So in my so not humble opinion, more than unlikely.

Prepare to be disappointed, though. As I recall, the plan is to release a non-ranged attack version. No bows, just dual wield, like the rogue.
I'm unhappy and I can't say why.

. . . . . I'm remaining confidant that we'll see a ranged class at some point. How you ask? Because I know this, and now you all do too!
. . . . .It has been confirmed (in podcasts and live streams, just recently too @ 37:30) that they are indeed working on something. They've eluded talking about it though. Also, it's been stated in long past, they they are only limited to adding the classes and races found within the Forgotten Realms, so the list is huge:
A forgotten Realms Core Race list would be highly beneficial. Post it or link it if you could
I tried to find one but a generalized D&D Player Race list one wiki was all I could find.
Classes:
PHB1: Fighter, Cleric, Rogue, Ranger, Paladin, Warlock, Warlord, and Wizard.
PHB2: Avenger, Bard, Barbarian, Druid, Invoker, Shaman, Sorcerer, and Warden.
PHB3: Ardent, Battlemind, Monk, Psion, Runepriest, and Seeker (PHB3 also introduces hybrid classes for Artificer, Ardent, Avenger, Barbarian, Bard, Battlemind, Cleric, Druid, Fighter, Invoker, Monk, Paladin, Psion, Ranger, Rogue, Runepriest, Seeker, Shaman, Sorcerer, Swordmage, Warden, Warlock, Warlord, and Wizard).
NWCS: Swordmage, Warlock, and Spellscarred.
Races:
PHB1: Dragonborn, Dwarf, Eladrin, Elf, Half-Elf, Halfling, Human, and Tiefling.
PHB2: Deva, Gnome, Goliath, Half-Orc, and Shifter.
PHB3: Githzerai, Minotaur, Sharmind, and Wilden.
FRPG: Drow, Genasi, Dragonborn, Dwarf, Eladrin, Elf, Half-Elf, Halfling, Human, and Tiefling.
NWCS: (Racial Variants) Dwarf, Eladrin, and Elf.
All this information comes from my own 4e Rulebooks and not from Wikis. These are Core Rulebooks and not Supplements.
Key:
PHB1 = 4e Player's Handbook: Arcane, Divine, and Martial Heroes
PHB2 = 4e Player's Handbook 2: Primal, Arcane, and Divine Heroes
PHB3 = 4e Player's Handbook 3: Psionic, Divine, and Primal Heroes
FRPG = 4e Forgotten Realms Player's Guide
NWCS = 4e Neverwinter Campaign Setting
. . . . . Just keep in mind, this is 4th edition, so each class has it's own set of Roles, which there are four (Leader, Striker, Defender, and Controller) in effect making each class have up to 4 roles port into Neverwinter Online as game classes. The Control Wizard, for example, is just one role for the Wizard Class, and the only one available in-game, currently.

Many many people who currently play are waiting for archers lol , when /if the class finally does arrive its pretty much a given that 80% or more of every server will consist of nothing but archers lol....

I believe a Archer class was mentioned was back in Beta and this did create alot of interest, imo, this would bring alot of players back to the game for sure. But as most know alot of things were loosly mentioned pre launch and nothing as ever materialised from them, the game to me as traveled and is continuing to travel down a completely different path than what was exspected by alot of people.
As for Archer class and the way the game is currently, i seriously would expect to see a Archer style companion for sale in the Zen shop way way before you see the actual class in the game
The only two hard facts we have at the moment are this. One, at least one new class is in the works. Possibly as many as two. And second, the new class will be "Ranged"
This is the only concrete info Cryptic has confirmed. Anything else is speculation or intentional misinformation.
No release date has been set. However, it has been hinted at some time before year end. I expect we will see more firm info and promos on it mid September.

I'm not 100% having never played 4E D&D but I think I've heard that that's how it works in the PnP game, you choose a class; fighter, rouge, wizard, etc. then a path or build or whatever they're properly called; guardian fighter, great weapon fighter, trickster rouge, brawny rouge, control wizard, blaster wizard, etc.
but like I said I'm not 100% in that so I could be wrong
and when ESO land this game will be nothing but a shadow anyway...
Just like Guild Wars 2, Star Wars: The Old Republic, Age of Conan, Aion, Tera, APB: All Points Bulletin, Final Fantasy XIV, Asheron's Call 2 and Tabula Rasa, to name but a few. All hyped to "instant classics", yet all failed horribly. So what makes you so sure ESO will succeed where all these others failed?

If you want to be a successful troll, you might want to at least pretend to be a bit more realistic. The forums does not represent the entire player-base. It's more like 10%, if that. Of course a lot of people want to try the new class when it arrives, but 80%? That's so ridiculous it's not even fun. I'd say 20%, if that.

Ranger - never .
Someday.
