47 booster packs and I got *drumroll* ....1

Good thing I'm a crafter and sitting on some AD. But that's 14100 Zen down the drain for one companion....

Are you missing a zero there?

14K makes me want to get it, 141K is a bit less...inspiring.

14100 is right if he bought 47 booster packs. They cost 300 zen each.

Nevermind! Losing my mind. I thought he said 14K AD, not 14K Zen.

    Yeah...eck.

Opened 60 total now. And got a 2nd one in pack Nr60.

At this drop rate this is a huge gamble and only viable if you're a crafter and want the tools anyway. If you go specifically after the companion then it's probably cheaper to just buy it on the AH. On Dragon they currently go for 2-2.5 mill.

The Tarmalune bars also have a huge RNG on them. Lowest I got was 5 and highest was 79.

So to sum it up: 2 of these companions cost me 60 packs, which is 18000 Zen, which is 6.012.000 AD (at 334-335 from the Exchange).

The fancy thing always has a low drop rate. Those wanting that, and only that, are always better off buying it at the AH directly. The pack method is for those less specific in their desires.

Ha, I was wondering if you just had that much cash to burn. I blew all my founder AD and plenty more besides on lockboxes (a rather foolish thing to do in retrospect) and never got the mount. I have nearly enough trade bars though to cash in for one though.

47 booster packs is a very small data set. I'm sure one could be like me and go much longer without getting her. If she could be acquired for trade bars, it wouldn't feel so much like I'm just setting my cash/AD on fire.

Bars or put her in the Zen store would certainly be better.

Anyway, gonna take a few weeks of crafting to make good on this..."investment". But this is the way of all shiny things.

I agree put her on the zen shop for 3000 zen is better than all these random box non-sense.

I spend 9600 Zen on Professions Asset Pack and 900 on Booster Pack and got nothing.
First and last time I fall for this in NW. lol (Stupid me)

There are more money in it for Cryptic, putting it in packs. Now I spend almost 10.000 Zen instead of 3500 and I'm not the only one.

Wow you're rich... you should have just bought about 32 x 300 zen booster packs. Yes it's a gamble. It has a 3% drop rate maybe.

Traded in some AD, got 15 booster packs. No healer.

    477 trade bars (31.8 avg; 25 was most common. Low was 6 & 15, high was 77 & 89)

8 Blue assets, 6 of them people
10 Green assets, 8 of them people
    .../sigh

    2 Dragon Eggs
    13 Blue resources
    56 Green resources
    152 white resources

The RNG was being a bit odd - the totals in each pack didn't = what the description said. Even ignoring that Residuum & coal/thread/etc likely give you several for "one" resource, I still had packs giving me 7-11 white, or a total of 5-7 purple/blue/green items (instead of 4).

edit: time to head back to STO, where the summer event Bird Eggs aren't dropping for me either... ;)

I can only shake my head as people don't see the link between fools and empty pockets....

Granted you can convert AD back to zen but most don't. PWI is laughing all the way to the bank.

Since it is a form of gambling...they have the bread winner...the rest of the game is fluff and not a big priority.

And people wonder why they have released more companions than any other content in the game so far. Don't waste your money and then have buyer's remorse 15 minutes later. I feel bad for the people that are gambling and losing to be honest. Video games should not be allowed to be a casino. We have more than enough people getting their pockets picked against the odds in the world. But to each their own I suppose.

See, that sucks. They get more business from the random element of this game than any other source I guarantee it. I am not against Cryptic making money, I am against a business model that pays off from gambling.

I was going to post this. I'll add, maybe they will hire some new workers to fix these stupid bugs and exploits, form a real customer service department, and make faster content.
TL : DR? Then don't waste my time responding.

The thing is, f2p MMos, particularly asian ones, long ago realized that if you make everything into a pseudo-gashapon, people will buy in droves. ZT Online is the ultimate case in point of just how far they go with it if allowed.

    why?

why bother doing any of that when people will buy 80 ******* lockboxes?

The last/one Aeria game I checked out was another. **** near everything anyone would really want (costumes, mounts, permanent storage expansions, etc) was in it's own random box. Some up to $5 each try.
