Wait, what? Event over?

Gah!

Looks like I got burned again by the way NW calculates days. I'm sure it is 24-hr periods, I don't doubt that. But depending on where you are in the (rl) world, it is far too easy to log in every day "your time" and miss a day in "NW" time.

Like with this event it seems. It takes 5 days (coins) to get the mask and I know I logged in and did the event on both characters every day. However it turns out the event is over and I'm at 4.

Which brings me to my next point ... PWI ... why would you set an event to be the exact length of the reward? (5 days ==> 5 coins). Couldn't you have set it to be 7 or something to allow for 1-2 missed days?

Please consider that in the future.

Thanks!

Unfortunate that it didn't work out for you, but the news item announcement regarding the event did state what time it would end and included the time zone converter.

I would have liked to see an option to buy a few more fireworks for fewer tokens for anyone who knew in advance they couldn't make every day to save up for the mask, akin to how the Invasion merchant allowed purchase of items to use up every last stray bone one might have collected.

You can buy extra coins and fireworks from the tarmalune trade bars vendor.

But yes, it would have been nice if the event lasted longer than 5 days so people didn't have to log in every day to complete it.

I'd imagine this will be a yearly event and the tokens are in a separate inventory bag anyway.

I checked that out and he only sells them for the trade bar currency though, right? Which requires opening lockboxes, which not everyone wants to do.

I understand that it's more difficult to code a different currency into a vendor than the one it would normally use, but maybe he wasn't the best choice as far as accessibility goes.

And yet I managed to get 6 tokens on 4 characters each.....so the whole not enough time argument is invalid.

I guess that depends on how much of a life you have outside of a video game :)

And if you care about an event so much how much time you are willing to invest to achieve said event.

    A day has 24h. The event timer was 19h. 24 - 19 = 5. the event did last for 5 days 5 * 5 = 25. 25 - 19 = 6.

6 token is correct. With 6 hours to spare at the end. I think 6 attempts to obtain 5 token was ok.

Sad to hear that you didn't get the star mask... but i can assure you it is pretty ugly looking anyway. Btw, If you buy the mask now with AD (auction) it will be way cheaper than it is going to be in a few days.

Bad event, bad reward. They may as well not have bothered, so it's no big loss not getting the 'prize'. If they rework it to be worthwhile next year, hopefully they will give a bit more leeway in earning the end reward.

It's weird, because STO events are generally a lot more forgiving about missed days.

I didn't do the Event because Savage enchants never worked from first event. Why do events if rewards don't work.

What gets me is that I still didn't miss any Coins over that same period.

I did not know about the bar vendor, however.

Because you could look at all the things this event gave out, and see that there were none with any gameplay mechanics that could fail?

I somehow ended up with 6 coins on each of my characters, without doing any "set an alarm for every 20 hours" thing. Perhaps it's because I did my quests in the morning each day, starting with the morning the event started? Maybe it was 5.5 days, and my timing was just right? No clue, I just know I have lots of coins..... which I didn't bother spending, since that mask is ugly. Ah, well.

(Now to figure out what to do with 3.5 stacks of those dye packs..... hmm.)

Don't you know by now that this game is for americans... from everyone else they will take money, but couldn't care less past that point. It's been like that for all cryptic games. This whole event was just disguised 4th july celebration.

I hope no one buys those masks from the ah ripoff artists. It's laughable. 300k - 2 mil for that ugly as butt mask is a joke. I got them on all toons just to get rid of the coins. The only thing I didn't get was the title. I didn't know you had to use three different mortars to launch fireworks. I was going to do that today, but missed out. No big deal. Ugly mask, title that I wouldn't use anyway (I just like collecting titles), means I didn't miss much.

What I WOULD like is the ability to trade those ugly dyes in for better looking ones.
TL : DR? Then don't waste my time responding.

What irritated me about the event was that I missed the fact that you get an achivement point and a title for launching the fireworks from three different mortars, but I always went to the same one...so no new title for me.

Ah, well...this event will probably happen again in a year....
    Hoping for improvements...

Its also an event for people who can read! All of the Event details were clearly spelled out for everyone, but not everyone can read sadly :(

The masks are hideous, however, I farmed the quests for the dyes in case I had any use of those for later. I was able to complete the quest 6 times per character, plenty of room to have missed a day for me. I can see where someone only playing evenings after work had to be a bit more precise to get all 5 of their tokens.

You must be on Mindflayer too. I saw those put up the very first day by people who must have bought extra coins with trade bars.

People were selling them for 6k last night, which IMO was still too much for what you get, but as of right now the cheapest up for sale is 7500. Eh, I guess that's not awful for anyone who really wants one.

That said, I am going to sit on mine to see if they become valuable collector's items(TM).

There was exactly 5 days worth of time.

Started July 3rd at 10am PDT
Ended July 8th at 10am PDT.

Thats 5 days. Not less then 5, not more then 5. 5.

But since a "day" in terms of being able to redo the daily quest was 20 hours, it was possible to get 6 coins if your schedule allowed.

I'd be willing to donate a mask to a bummed out person as well. Mindflayer server.

Thats 5 days. Not less then 5, not more then 5. 5.

Which makes it even more odd that some of us managed to get 6 coins, even without trying to do the "every 20 hour" daily thing.
(also have six quests x 8 char worth of dye bottles. Minus the couple I used. Takes up a good bit of space, since bottles only stack to 20.)
