I really need to play more CO to see the similarities, good thing these games are free or I would be pretty poor pretty quickly.

    Same. ^_^

And the conclusion is: Cryptic should make other clothes than 'headitems' to give away for free. That we can all agree, right?
How about those striped pants? I think having 6? masks is enough.

It doesn't even look the same. Similar, yes. So what? I don't see a problem with sharing assets between games. Especially if it gets us content faster. A lot of the systems in Neverwinter were worked upon in Star Trek Online and Champions Online before.

    Lliira's symbol is also stars.

Seem like the original poster is trying to find things to criticize. There's more than enough already to nitpick unimportant stuff like this.

Agreed. I think that may be because of the Zen store fashion items though.

I think the consensus is that the star face mask is pretty dumb. Something like the dwarven mask for caturday was ok, but not that amazing.

Agreed. I even think they should ditch the peasant garb at the beginning, or at least give an early quest to get class-specific fashion clothes...

Its not about who has movies. Its about a Superhero who is "fantasy" themed who isnt as overshadowed as most people think. He is a well known superhero because of the movies and the comics.

Yeah considering he has been around since '62 I would say he is a major title in the comics. And its not just his get up but his home and background that makes him a "fantasy" superhero.

I think that the fact that many non fantasy themed superhero comic books and movies, have outperformed Thor does kind of mean that he is overshadowed.

Combine that with the fact that the producers felt that the movies involving him needed to have the mythical/mystical aspects diluted by including an, "Any sufficiently advanced technology is indistinguishable from magic," theme pretty much reinforces the point.

Personally Thor is one of my favorite comic book characters. I enjoyed the movie presentation as well. The reality of the matter, though, is that tech overshadows mysticism in the current iteration of movies and comics (for Marvel at least).

Now make that same statement without being as condescending.

How can text have a condescending tone? Whatever context YOU GET FROM text comes from....wait for it......

YOU. Remember, pointing a finger at someone else, there's always three pointing right back at you.

You do realize he admitted it was meant to be condescending right? The argument is done and over with and like adults we both moved on.

could we have trousers, shirts , waistcoats, jackets for females. the rogues and wizards ahave good clothes as armour.
clothing- trousers with 4 flap skirt, trousers with shorter 4 flap skirt, optimists skirt-2 strips of cloth, dunny roll holder skirt.

come on, if you can have the design as armour, how hard is it to make a clothing version?

Even if they did, I don't begrudge NWO using CO assets, especially if tweaked for the engine.

However... air guitar, formal bow, facepalm. and head butt emotes for CO, please.

All they did was take the initial geometry of the mesh and modify it to make it look a little different. This is not hard and would take a game modeler about 10-15 minutes. The texture map is a simple diffuse with laughably little detail, it is literally just a single colour (goldish) with maybe a slightly different edge trim colour. While normal maps are often used in games these days I can't see any evidence of one being used in either version of the mask.

So here's what would most likely have happened:

    1) tweak mask geometry - 10-15 mins
    2) adjust texture colour from silver to gold on existing diffuse map - 2 mins
    3) maybe tweak existing spec map to suit new gold colour - 2-5 mins
    4) export new asset into game engine - 5 mins

So all up you're looking at about a max 30 min job to change the asset from CO to Neverwinter. This, by the way, is not lazy, it's efficient workflow for something you get for free for an event no one will remember in 6 months time. Cryptic do run a business and not a charity after all.

If they did the same for items you pay cash for in the zen store however....

Did that Lliira chick just borrow something from Champions Online?

The Superhero dude from the left...His mask....

    Cstore_Display_Goldenage_01.png

    :p

Yeah, it's a lazy mask for a lazy event, but it's clearly not the exact same one as the CO one.

But I'd like to discuss what's really important here though, how in the world is that girl's costume considered golden age? Golden age costume for a southern trailer park maybe.
