What about us people who hate PvE? I bet we are the ones wtih money, buying Zen. You make stuff BoP, and I bet you lose a ton of income. (my estimate is over 67%)

All I do is PvP a hour or 3 a day. It was nice to buy gear, and do what I wanted. I would start looking for the pieces I wanted at level 10 and bid up to 20K on items, and have a decent set with a few PvP items mixed in there as well. got 3 toons done, but looks like I won't be able to do the 4th. I will not purchase anymore Zen for me, or my 3 kids until you retract your BoP statement.

Kind regards,

A Man with a wallet

Then you don't get the stuff. Works like this in any other mmo, everyone was surprised its different here.

Its really simple-you don't play content, you don't get rewards for this content.

Really? Every other MMO? I'm pretty sure a VERY VERY VERY popular MMO called GW2 has ALL BOE drops, and even separate drops for each player......... hmmmmmm

Can you name another one? Because I could write a book about the ones that doesn't.

Knight Online.. An older one, but very fun and every single drop was, get this-no such thing as binding in that MMO!, and the economy was ran by individual player shops.

Before you ask again, here's another one - Tera.

I think he meant "real mmo", not a mmo that no one knows about.

    SWG had BoE

Aion had BoE. I think you only had to run a quest for a weapon that was BoP, but that was fun, you had to go into enemy territory to complete the quest and you got to PvP :)

Side note, SWTOR Had PvP gear that was, you guessed it, best for PvP. That was earned by PvP'ing.

Still only a couple. Sandbox mmos shouldn't count as they handle everything differently, but vast majority of themeparks go the BoP route. Oh and Tera went F2P quite rapidly, so apparently their model wasn't that great at the end.

Anyway, worst thing that can happen is game will loose instant gratification crowd that have no place in MMOs anyway.

    @xrel1x
It took time for SWTOR. Months after release best pvp gear was PvE gear or to be accurate PvE weapons and set with pvp "jewelery" and offhands.

Vindictus, GW2, WildStar, Aion, Tera, GW, LC, PWI, RC2, etc.
All of those games, practically nothing binds on pick up from dungeons.
So what the **** is happening here, lol.
Oh wait, devs too lazy to fix the glitches within dungeons, so they take an easier rout out.

Just because you don't know about doesn't mean nobody does.. It was quite a while ago, but it had a large player base - and in fact I've seen it mentioned on this board before. I also mentioned Tera which I'm pretty sure everyone and their mom knows about.

And yeah ^^ Tera ended up flopping.. You know why? They turned the game into a massive gear grind with impossible endless upgrading needed.

Wait.. what, Aion BoE?? Dudes, what lvl are you in Aion?
FYI, Aion has both BoE and BoP, and BoP gears are usually the best gears in game.
The only problem is that they can exploit the 20 minutes loot rights to trade these items.

And don't forget practically every FREE TO PLAY mmo is bind on pick equip. Too many people comparing the economy and the prices of cash shop of an f2p to a p2p. It's unreasonable, they aren't meant to be the same.

Why you even playing an mmo, go back to your FPS.

This wouldn't be a problem if there was actual useable gear that made dungeons playable that's not in a set, but there isn't. You'll be fine up to the boss, but if you don't have purples then you're almost certainly done for. If they made a lot more viable gear for level 60 then this would be okay, but right now it would make end game undoeable.

Of course you can just grind away to get pvp gear, but now that you don't get much glory for losing it will take forever. Not to mention that clerics are screwed right now for getting points meaning that clerics get even less glory and will have a really hard time getting the pvp gear. So now you'll have a bunch of ungeared clerics running around the dungeons which really just sucks for everyone.

Every game I mentioned is F2P, except of course GW/GW2. Aion has BoE and BoP, but majority of the gear is still being sold off for profit by means of the timer, we used to grind dungeons just to then leave the loot on the ground and sell it for high profit then split that money between everyone in the party, giving people a reason to still run dungeons who are all ready geared.

That's a HAMSTER poor attitude and probably not what the producers of the game want.

    9/10 post would read again.
Would be 10 but you don't have the Hero of the North title, so clearly your wallet isn't big enough.

Why not? This is a PVE game first and foremost. That is why the PVP is very...lackluster and obviously tacked on.

I see your Knight Online and Tera and raise you a WoW, you know, a very successful MMO in its own right. Get this, its heavy BoP (last I played it anyway) and is doing just fine.

Tired of the whine posts claiming the game is dead if it goes BoP heavy on loot.

That's great.. He asked me to name a MMO that ran on a BOE system since he claimed ALL MMO's were BOP.

I also never said the game would die, I said I would leave it in a heartbeat..

If you're going to quote me to talk ****, at least properly respond to what I actually said.

Just because you don't know about other MMORPGs does not make it any less of an MMORPG. Tera is very well known mostly for HAMSTER.

Yep, if this game goes BoP, it'd kill it for me.

I hate hate HATE forced grouping. MMOs do NOT need some kind of cast-in-stone law that demands the only way to get the best gear is through group-only quests. That only needs to be one of the ways.

So, if my only option for obtaining the gear is forced grouping (since the loot is BoP), then so long. I'd be fine with BoP gear if they offered multiple avenues to get it.

EQ2 used to not be BoP was very fun and useful to resell your used gear to others. BoP when introduced to that game ruined the game a little, why can't you do Hand Me Downs to your friends? When trying to keep emersion and realism in a fantasy game BoP ruins that.

But it won't kill the game, it'll just ruin some people's fun and enjoyment. (Also mixing in BoE also into this sorry for not being that clear but whatever)

The same was the case in Guild Wars, as well. All drops were boe, and a lot didn't even bind after using them. Aside from armor, that is. You could use a weapon indefinitely, sell it, buy another. It only bound if you wanted to do a slight amount of additional damage with it.
