No companions in Gauntlgrym?

In the video, I don't see any companions.

Personally, I think the companions being allowed in dungeons is a bit too much, and shouldn't be allowed. They aren't allowed in Domination PvP, but only phase 2 is actually PvP. I'm curious to know how it's going to work for phase 1/3.

So does anyone know how this is going to work in GG?

Probably no official word yet, but maybe Abministerr or Aandre can chime in?

Companions better be allowed as this is the 20man PvE Raid for End Game. Companion are our PvE stat boosts and huge amounts of DPS boosts.

I don't understand why you think they "better be allowed". Are you afraid of challenging content? I don't get it ...

He is saying that because people using a cat or ioun stone have geared their toon around having that specific companion. Their for if they are not allowed people are going to have to probably change their armor/enchantments to get the proper stats they want.

Ouch, must suck to be so ultra-dependant on a piece of broken AI. Too bad the cat is dead for 80% of most boss fights...

No one is being dependent on it. Who doesn't want free stats? I'm getting over 800 crit and 800 recovery from my stone...and it never dies. It's in the game, it's not broken...So why are you trying to flame?

WOWOWOWOW you are dumb and don't deserve a response, but I'll type it anyways, and then ignore you from this point on.

    1. If you geared your entire character to revolve around a specific companion, that is the exact definition of a dependency.

    2. I never said anything about the stone, obviously it doesn't die, take the time to read my post, I said the cat. The broken AI I'm referring to is companions that die, broken as in the companion stands right in the middle of the huge red circles, the AI isn't smart enough to move/dodge/whatever to avoid danger.

Be more specific next time then. We are gearing our toons this way because this companion is in the game and it's what it is designed for. Obviously if it wasn't in the game we would be putting the stats needed else where.

An interesting thought. In domination companions don't work. But this is a blend of both PvE/PvP. If I had to guess Companions will be disabled for this. I think the PvE aspect won't be nearly as hard as we all think. If it was then they would allows the Cats, Stones, Clerics(with tomes <crosses fingers>).

    You are showing your ignorance.

The cat is a non-combat pet and does not take damage nor die. It's the same as the STONE but gives crt/recovery vs. power/crt/recovery. The non-combat pets are stats companions and boost players stats and why they are cost a ton.

enderlin50 - I agree with you and think the PvP phase will have companions removed. But suspect the PvE phases will have companions as it appears each phase is it's own instance.

which is why I don't have either one and don't really care how they work. I thought cat = panther... :P Regardless, it doesn't take away from the concerns I have over allowing companions into GG

True. I guess in my head Im imaging the whole thing is seamless. Derp that would make sense when the phase ends it loads and cycles to the next phase.

enderlin50 - It also looks like each phase is 20 or 30 minutes long. :( So just imagine that each time you queue it will be a 1.5 hour event!

I wonder if we will have time for pee breaks or time to grab a beer from the fridge.

Despite how much I'd like to use my stone I'd be surprised if I could.

Got to look at the bottom line. Cats and stones = $$ for them. Therefore making the raids not only allow them but hard enough to encourage having one is in their best interest. Therefore I predict the pets are allowed and the content harder to adjust for that....

the dependency thing is a strange way to look at it. Its a piece of gear. Its like saying we are dependent on our weapons. Well duh, yea, if we go in there naked, it will probably not go too well. We are dependent on all our gear, and the pet is a part of that, really. Thinking of it as external to your gear is odd. Not having one is like refusing to wear a helmet or something (go ahead, and good luck with that..!).

There are 2 cats. One is a combat pet. One is not. Some ppl are confused about this.

Yeah I didn't know that either. But then again, I hate all companions and think the idea is beyond stupid.

Soooooo, it's going to be some big 40 vs 40 ___fest? Can't see the euro playerbase liking this, they can hardly play as it is becuse of 'latency' issues

I think the video guys omitted companions to keep the noise down or they are on their mounts riding around showing the environment. Gauntlgrym has normal companion rules - OK in PvE, disabled in PvP.

Thank you for your reply, but that sucks :P

That means 40 sprites running around the end-boss, minus the stones, I suppose... But if anyone is having FPS issues now, can't wait to see the uproar it will spawn when GG comes around :P

kimmurieloblodra - If you are having FPS issues drop your video settings down. The game has a really good video system and there is no reason for FPS issues unless your system is very low end.

naw im over 60 on laptop and well over that on my desktop. It's the tremendous amount of useless clutter in a game that has reticle targeting that I'm more worried about. That, and I think the companion system is a crutch to help scrubs through content they couldn't finish on their own.

Regardless, I was looking for an answer, I got it, I'm not satisfied with it, but that's fine. I'll play GG either way, and more then likely enjoy myself while doing so.

I did wow on dialup with 40. The core was fine, but the first fight of bwl was bad of course. There is no excuse, nearly 20 years and light years of speed improvements later, for this to even begin to be an issue.
