While true, this is a bit like my starting talking to someone about the game "Warcraft" and expecting them to immediately distinguish whether I'm talking about Warcraft I, II, III, or WoW. I'm sticking with NWO.
We've been calling it NWO for a long long time. However, now Cryptic chose to officially call it NW. Works for me, but privately, haha I admit I'm an offender, it will always be NWO for me.
This is NeverWinter Online. Developer can say whatever he wants but everyone knows that "Neverwinter" means neverwinter nights. OP and the Developer he quote are both morons if they can't figure this out.
Too bad. The original was Neverwinter, this is Neverwinter online.
The better game (not to mention the first) gets the priority. If they wanted people to call this the name they wanted they should have picked one that wasn't taken.
I've never heard anyone call this just 'neverwinter', I doubt I ever will except in type.
How do you know the so called original was a better game? Are you from some alternate universe where a different version of Neverwinter was released?
If you are speaking about the Co-op game...it was only a Co-op game because Atari more or less refused to anything but the bare minimal funding into the project.
From my understanding: Atari who once held the rights to certain D&D digital properties approaced cryptic and said make a game you have six months and here is ten bucks to do it, Cryptic said we want to make a D&D MMO, but there is no way they could possibly make a MMO with little to no money, Atari came back and said okay make "something."
The Co-op game was the best they could do, shortly after that Atari who was going broke was shopping Cryptic on the street, because despite initial lackluster reception, that studio was the only one they could sell off for more than a few thousand to keep the wolves at bay...well that and a Chapter 13.
Atari also got caught selling rights they didn't have to D&D digital products to Namco...so Hasborg sweeps in and sues them and wins (well they settle but Hasborg gets the rights back which is what they wanted.) Atari caught a break when PWE bought Cryptic, Cryptic told PWE that they really wanted Neverwinter to be a MMO, PWE gave them the funds to do it and pushed the game back Remember this game was forst suppose to relase in 2011) so they could.
/whew
TLDR. Cryptic wanted a MMO all along they couldn't make one with ten bucks, so PWE gave them the funds to make a MMO and here we are.
Also the Cryptic Devs at PAX East and Prime were calling it Neverwinter, they pretty much always have. from Co-op to MMO.
And this game isn't Neverwinter. They can call it that as much as they want but it's going to be known as Neverwinter online no matter what they do. Neverwinter is neverwinter nights.

Really? I thought Neverwinter Nights was....Neverwinter Nights
Do a search for neverwinter and you will get all the information you need for neverwinter Nights and neverwinter MoTB. Simply adding in the Online part separates out the first two games about neverwinter.
Secondly the city is called neverwinter. just using neverwinter will get you books, board games, online games...any and all threads posted about neverwinter with maybe page 10 having a post about the online game form.
So don't be an ignorant the "online" part is needed to separate it out from past and future references to neverwinter the city

This so much.
"Neverwinter" is ambiguous. It can mean NWN, NWN2, P&P NW, MMORPG NW, the old classic NW....
The NWO acronym in context of MMORPGs is not ambiguous. Therefor a lot of people use it.

It's only ambiguous when used outside of this game's setting. On these forums, or in-game, or on any fan-site, there is no ambiguity.
True, but still, whenever i hear "Neverwinter", I think of NWN
For a long time, so did Google, Youtube, and most other sites with search functions.
It was really only after the game hit open beta that searches for "Neverwinter" finally began showing information about this MMO as the top results. Before that, the only reliable way to search for wikis and articles about this game was to search "Neverwinter MMO" or "Neverwinter Online". If you didn't add the extra tag, you'd get information about the old Neverwinter Nights game. In fact, we still see people posting about "incorrect wiki information" when they are looking at a NWN wiki instead of a Neverwinter MMO wiki. It's only natural for many people to start calling this game by the same name they had to search it under.
In short, it was a terrible idea for the developers to name their game with a shorter version of an existing game. This is why games like Vanguard and Warhammer have titles like "Saga of Heroes", and "Age of Reckoning".
-Travail.

Are so many people really that interested in/familiar with, paranoid anti-UN conspiracy theories?
:rolleyes::p
(seriously, though - when someone talks about New World Order, that's the only thing that comes to mind. Is there some other meaning?)
Uh, no.
#fail
Wikipedia is a very handy resource.
New World Order
I admit to knowing a few of the items on the list, but mostly I'm familiar with the acronym as used by professional wrestling, stupid advertising.
lol exactly
One million facepalms…
… and that's still not enough to express how I feel right now.
He's completely right. Anyone who's been playing RPG's for the last 10 years knows about Neverwinter Nights.
And?
