How to fix the economy without a wipe

1. Do a db search for all ah postings that used a negative integer. Delete all transactions associated with that posting and ban the account that made the posting. Ban all accounts that bought bogus postings from the account that exploited where the amount was larger than 70k. Ban all accounts that bought postings from the account that bought the bogus postings from the account that exploited. (70k or larger transactions) Keep going until the trail ends.

2. Delete all items that are in the game that was once bought by the banned accounts. Some innocent people will lose their items but fixing the economy is more important and if those innocent people really care about those items, they can submit a ticket to a GM to investigate and be reimbursed for their loss.

This won't completely clean out all items that were a result of the major exploits, but it'll at least minimize the damage to the economy.

Either way, it doesn't matter to the people who are only playing the game for fun with their friends. In the end, the economy doesn't really matter because there's not much content in the game yet. You can easily get all the tiered 2 gears on your own and will eventually get the nightmare mounts without spending any real money. These course of actions would at least remove a lot of the items like the hundreds of cats on the market right now that was obtained from exploits.

    Not going to do anything.

This day and age of gold farmers are smart enough to outsmart the system.

They could at least have a wealth wipe. Limit each played account to 5,000,000 AD and 500 gold, make all the current purples BoP, wipe all AD and gold from mule accounts ... that would go a long way toward limiting the damage.

Just give us a new server after you fix all these major exploits. All of the legit players don't mind starting all over even if it means we don't get our zen back. We just want to have a peace of mind that the people who are playing with and against are legit as well. I think a new server will not only help retain players, but it will attract new players as well.

What good would a new server be?

You do realize that they plan on merging all the servers and only having one big server for everyone right?

Not going to happen. Their servers cannot handle it. The servers are already lagging as is.

A new server would give players that wants a fresh start that opportunity. A new server would attract new players who do not want to join a server that has had tons of exploits and an inflated economy.

Wanna bet? They have already officially stated it more than once that they will be merging all the servers.

Just because you are getting lag on a server doesn't mean everyone is, and it doesn't mean the server is at full capacity either.

Once again I will say this. The economy was fine before "Catastrophe." The economy is not broken enough to warrant a wipe. Some games economies have been so destroyed they require 250-1,000+ irl dollars to even buy a single item. Take a look at D3 for example. Our economy is NOWHERE EVEN REMOTELY CLOSE to this.

The economy is fine . Ad to zen on Mindflayer is already down to 365 . And looks like it will hit the 340 as it was at Saturday night when I went to bed .

I thought it was suppose to be closer to 500 that's why after the lol-back it was 500?

want to know how to fix the economy? its really easy. ready? here it is:

    do nothing.

thats it. thats all you have to do. simple economics: supply and demand. The exploit has been fixed, and the servers were rolled back. If any significant stock of items survived the rollback, it will only cause a brief market shock, and after that resource is exhausted prices will eventually return to normal...economy changes, but naturally has its own way of working itself out.

You've said that multiple times. AD to Zen is only one indicator. Rare item prices and item prices also enter in to the economy. Oh and we don't know about that because the AH is still not up.

Finally. Someone with some sense. People who think it needs to be wiped because they feel it's that broken.. doesn't know what they're talking about. Again, I hold up D3 as an example of broken economy.

No the higher the rate , the more AD is available . It means more people are selling AD then people selling Zen . The lower the rate the faster ' free ' players can earn their zen items by trading in AD .

I have a theory that the main reason AD is so high is because there's no auction house available right now. The only way to purchase epic mounts, companions, and other goods is through the Zen shop. This means, currently, Zen is worth more than AD as you can't get much from AD at this point.

The Ah exploit has been fixed but not the other exploits. The problem is that the exploiters, a lot of them, were able to obtain things like the cat in mass quantity and distribute them to their friends. These companions greatly imbalances the game and was not meant to be obtained so quickly while the economy is still young. If you've joined level 60 pvp recently, you'd notice that even though you have the full pvp set or all t2 epics, you're still getting nearly 1 shotted by any class including GF, GWF, and clerics. This is because they have max ranked enchants and their non-battle companions which stays with them even in the arena pvp.

Since all these people are talking about basic economy. I guess I'll use that argument as well.

    Higher Demand = Higher Prices

One can assume that since it was only a 7 hour rollback, there are still many players with a ton of AD to spend. (They didn't all get banned)

So what do those players with those AD do? Try to buy out all the Zen.
