Wait wait I'm sorry but you call that cartoon <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font>?! You do realize that is the art/character style of ragnarok online(a game thats been around since before WOW) Just how ignorant are you?!
Maybe you need to goto disneyporn.com and then go back to mmorpg.com and ask yourself if they look similar.

You did not even bother to read the article that was actually very well written and makes some solid arguments. Way to judge a book by its cover because you have a cartoon character phobia.

I read the article because Beaghan1 ported it over here. It's written by some jealous blogger that has a clear desire to work in the gaming industry but probably has no technical skills/post-secondary education, so he resorts to blogging and badmouthing the companies that wouldn't hire him if their companies depended on it.

I think the difference is the fact that no items in Path of Exile or Dota 2 give you an advantage making you better than other players.

And to this: the only thing that gives you an advantage over other players is mounts in PvP, and I'll bet you dollars to donuts mounts wont be in PvP within a month.

Nah, it's a <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> article. Terrible research, completely wrong information, she obviously hasn't even scratched the surface of Neverwinter. She claims that respec should be available without real world money, something that's obviously already in the game. You can argue it's too expensive, but you can whereas the 'reviewer' apparently was unaware of that fact.

Oh cool they took out the T7 enchant failure rate of 99%? Awesome.

Wait, they're still in the game? I can still bypass it for $10?

Oh...you were being vague and general for a reason huh? =(

The hentai <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> on the left. That **** makes me sick. And you're talking to someone who goes to piratebay and other torrent sites daily and sees the "Meet women from China" and "Better than Craigslist!" ads.

Don't get me wrong, I'm a disgusting human being in real life. I do **** to my wife that's probably illegal in some states. But that hentai BS just screams "amateur website here" and just makes them lose all credibility. To me, at least. But hey, to each their own. If you guys like cartoon <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font>, so be it.

I, along with most adults, don't take any of the sites that host those kinds of things seriously.

Hentai? It's not even Manga and there is a HUGE difference between the two. it's just a stylised drawing. The exact same images that Neverwinter are using
    1360803092294.jpg

And I, as a one-time graphic artist, abhor the use of cartoon artwork for sexual gratification purposes, but this? it's not even close.

And whilst i'm at it and you are such a forgotten realms fan, I'll remind you of the 1990 cover for the TSR FR calendar

I see a cartoon chick thats half naked and intended to give a hard-on to kids who probably can't get them in the first place.

Therefore, I close the browser and move on with my life.

Okay, please tell me you're 60+ years old. Because I see NOTHING which tells me there is <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font>. It's a video game with female characters made to be attractive to the younger generation and that's it, no intentions of a "Hard-on", there are video game that have far more revealing female clothing(Mostly Korean). All I can see is you trying to discredit an article.

From what I see the only claim on this game not being an open beta release is that you can spend real money on it and that is all.

But people even if we take it as a live release and not an open beta, this game was only released 2 weeks ago, expecting it to have all the fixes and what not is, well, strange to say the least...

Huge difference between the neverwinter blonde and the one on that mmorpg site. But regardless, that's terribly off-topic and I'm pissed that it derailed this thread so much. I would edit the posts, but that would just stir the pot since im quoted everywhere

Considering that just about everyone you're disagreeing with is an adult (and some are probably old enough to have kids your age), saying "most adults" seems rather self-serving. You're clearly not an example of "most adults" if you think a drawing of a girl in a miniskirt is "cartoon <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font>".

It's an ad for the MMO Ragnarok-2, a sequel to the original game that's been out for a long, long time. It's a very "anime style" game, so yes it's going to have girls running around in skirts. Much like MOST korean games. Ever played Lineage-2? Female characters had skirts that would flip up to show off their underwear when they'd cast spells. Lots of people found it silly, and some found it offensive. Few labeled it "cartoon <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font>" though.

Sorry if a drawing of a girl in a skirt somehow makes your jimmies shrink into your abdomen.

No, there are a lot of people being trolled back and forth over an article with no redeeming value.

I swear the writer just read a couple of QQ forum topics as her 'research' for this article. She's not 100% wrong, and it's an ongoing series so of course she doesn't know everything, but it's really obvious to me that she simply hasn't played enough to even start putting pen to paper, metaphorically speaking.

selective reasoning to suit your argument. All i can say is that for someone so into the fantasy realms as you claim you don't comprehend that fantasy art has been aimed at titillation for spotty adolescents since the genre began. Look at many fantasy book covers, hell, just google Boris Valejo.

What article are you talking of? The article quoted in this thread was written by Bill Murphy. A respected journalist in this field.

Is Path of Exile in open beta?

Is Dota II in open beta?

Do both games take your money?

    I rest my case.

POE accepts donations and you can purchase cosmetic effects only from there store. nothing to give even the slightest advantage at all in any way.

Dota 2 is currently closed beta and yes they have a store also for mostly cosmetic. you can buy a tourny ticket that if you win you can win real money from...again nothing in there store to help you gain any amount of leverage at all.

i rest my case...this is release

    People just won't ever learn.

A company can write up any terms of use it deems necessary.. THAT DOESNT MAKE IT LEGAL AND BINDING.

A company can call a release whatever it wants, it doesn't matter. If they are doing something illegal and against consumer protection laws, them calling it "beta" isn't going to matter ONE BIT. NADA. ZERO.

Blows my mind how easily duped and fooled kids get now days.. This is why releases like this have become the norm and full-featured, properly tested games are becoming very rare.

Remember the days when we didn't have broadband? Why were companies capable of releasing solid content way back then? I remember stuff going all the way back to my Mac SE, Circa 1987... or my trusty Apple ][e Circa 1983.... Had no problems finding rock solid games that never needed a SINGLE PATCH.

Actually the article in question was the one by Bill Murphy that talks about why "open beta" isn't really "beta" any more, and why it's a marketing ploy. The other article was written by someone else, and wasn't the original "counter" to the OP's "facts".

idgaf about the article. To say a site like that is a "credible source" shows just how smart the average gamer is, nowadays. I couldn't care less about that article.

I simply wanted to point out that other devs use this exact same model, and they get praised for it. PWE does it, and it's all of a sudden some huge deal. If anything, that article helps prove my point of view.

I see no jealousy or lack of education.

I'm sorry sir but you have failed so many times in this thread alone already that I cannot help but think that those personal insults you throw at this blogger is more suited to be used on yourself.

And to the other guy going on about how the reviewer of the game thats briefly mentioned in the article (but has no bearing on its contents AT ALL) is completely missing the entire game by sayign respecs should not be a real money only item:
Really bro? Don't you think she meant that it should be directly do-able with ingame gold vs having to buy zen with gold at whatever the current exchange rate? Common sense much? You also link a review about NW with a review about the industry as a whole and then somehow think you can use some weak splitting hairs point to discredit the entire argument?

So much fail here it reminds me why I hate working with the public in general.

Exactly.. So many spoiled, bratty warcraft generation kids that burn thru games faster than <font color="orange">HAMSTER</font> thru a goose. They can't wait for a solid release. They gotta have it now. Then they burn thru it in one week because they have no social life outside of gaming. Then they are whining about content.... or PVP balance... whine whine whine.

So company's recognize they have a small window to get maximum profits... then enter Neverwinter... It's obvious at this point this game was designed for a quick fast buck.

The gaming landscape today makes me sick to my stomach. Honestly about to just quit gaming all together except for sports games on my console.
