I'm curious what my fellow CWs are using as their companion as they level. I have the wolf I got as a founder and now that I'm level 16, I'm ready to get my second one. I realize this choice isn't earth shattering, but I'd appreciate any insights from others about which companion they find most useful with your CW.

At 53 i still use my man-at-arms and will upgrade him to the max when its available. Still does a good job at lvl 15, but dies fast to bosses in solo mission dungeons now. CC and revive, he stands up and grabs agro like a boss......rince repeat
In dungeons, I use the Cat. For solo stuff (mostly foundry quests), either the dire wolf, the phoera or the cleric. For the end game group content, I think the cat is by far the best. It's also very adorable.

Thanks for the responses!
I'm curious about this kitten/cat a couple of you have mentioned. It's not one of my choices in the level 16 quest to get a companion. Does it come later? Or am I just overlooking where you get it?

What do you currently have in the runestone and item slots for your cat? Thanks.

I use a direwolf and a cleric. Both are doing a great job of helping. I just picked up a phoera at the AH before logging off last night. So I'll be adding that to the mix. The Direwolf does a nice job of additional control/damage and the cleric keeps me topped off so that I don't need to use pots to heal.

Cleric companion is great. It allows me to focus more on pure damage since I am getting healed. I initially chose the wizard thinking we would blow stuff up together but he is meh. His aoe attack usually goes off just after I kill the mobs and since I way outdamage him, they are usually dead before he even gets a chance to really do any damage.
What do you currently have in the runestone and item slots for your cat? Thanks.
I have a 7% Pet-stats-to-owner rune stone in the defensive slot and two +power ones in the offensive slots (I contemplate to swap this for crit, but I'm not sure how to best balance everything since my own gear still fluctuates -- started T2 dungeons just a couple days back). I give the Cat the rings, amulets and belts that I replace. Ideally, I would like it to have the same ones as me (which do happen to be crit/power/recovery itemized pieces, if available), but that takes some time.

Right now I been using the Honey Badger (He just doesn't care) I just hit 60 and found out that the Cat and the Ioun Stone of Allure are the best companions for dungeons. I am at my point where I can choose one or the other. I can't decide which to use. While cat increases crit and recovery and the stone increases magical attacks. The reason I can't decide is cause I always use crit and then power first while the stone increases my attacks I can slot him with crit items and recovery, and the opposite with cat. So I am not sure where to go from here.
imivo, by the way I just respecced and started using your Renegade build, I like it a lot really increased my damage output.
I seem to be the only one using Wayward Wizard It was great low lvl, extra aoe damage and aoe slow let me kill groups of mobs so easily. Started to lvl Cleric one now, not sure which one would be best now

Awesome! I'm glad you found it useful and it is working for you, too.
As for Cat vs. Stone, I think it's pretty much like you say, at the end of the day it's a choice between crit and power, and you can compensate whichever the chosen companion does not have with gear. I value critical hit higher than power, with the renegade build, but I think either approach will work. I'd just make it dependent on which look you prefer.

I could be wrong but it seems if you rush training on your cat the bonus stats are lower. For 3 levels I rushed training and I only got +2 increase in the bonus stats each time. I allowed it to train for the full time and I received +28. Maybe that's how it normally levels but it seems weird...

Ive been using the cleric since i got him. Also got the 60$ cat now. Cleric was fine i suppose.. not sure i really noticed much :P the heal isnt that awesome when the real pain comes in.
I do want to try some others, but they do cost 2 gold a pop. Having the dog might help me a little on single targets as im pretty much entirely focused on aoe dmg atm. Might also look into the wizard pet, see how he does.
I used the wolf til around 25 then the cleric til 58 when I realized the cat existed, and used that for the final two levels (where I used more potions than the rest of the levels combined).
So in terms of levelling ease - cleric all the way. Cat for instances.

I chose the Cleric (can't afford the cat yet). I noticed she is really slow to heal. And sometimes she doesn't heal me at all. Does that get better as she levels? Or is that slow/non reaction something I'll have to get used to?
Someday I hope to be able to get that cat. It looks so sexy good!

It's a 30s cooldown on the heal, but at least the heal is % of your life so always scales accordingly.

I'm almost level 16 ... I don't mind using Pots so which is better, generally... Cleric or the Man-at-Arms? Does the man at arms take enough aggro to keep me from getting hit? Or should I just take the hits (when they happen) and let the Cleric keep me healed?

Go with the cleric. After you hit 30, the tank becomes useless because he can't keep up, but the cleric always heals for % of your HP.
I would get the cat asap though. It helps a ton.
