Country, Folk, Celtic, Bluegrass, Gospel(not modern worship songs like Hymns ex. The Old Rugged Cross, Blessed Assurance, etc ), 70-90's Rock and Metal, umm.. Weird Al Yankovic, some modern christian folky bluegrassy stuff.... umm... I know I like more but not all of it is easily described.
I listen to everything: indie, rap, jazz, blues, rock and classical, you name it.
I go see about 10 shows or so a year. I don't do outdoor shows, but going to see a favorite band in a club/bar is always a favorite. I wanted to see Russian Circles last night, but I have a tax appointment today and needed to prepare for it.
According to last.fm the top ten bands I listened to last year were:
1. Tame Impala
2. Grandaddy
3. Elliott Smith
4. Neon Indian
5. Kinski
6. The Raveonettes
7. Yo La Tengo
8. Black Moth Super Rainbow
9. A Place to Bury Strangers
10. My Bloody Valentine
All-time, my favorite band is The Clash.
I also ran my own record company in the late-90's, we got to work with guys from Guns 'n Roses, President of the United States, Soundgarden, KISS, L.A. Guns and Pantera (among others). But I lost a lot of money on the damn thing, so I stopped.
When it comes to hip-hop, I am very old school, Public Enemy and NWA top my list, but I did like the Frank Ocean album last year.
For jazz, I love all the legends, Charlie Parker however rules them all for me.
For blues, I like old school too, Robert Johnson and Howlin' Wolf probably my two favorites, but a shout out to Tom Waits too, who I adore.
For old school "classic" rock, I'll give a nod to the Beatles as the most influential band of all-time, but I'll also confess to having a deep love of Pink Floyd, and particularly their very early stuff with Syd Barret.
My favorite live performances of all-time is an eclectic list and would include Eddie Cleanhead Vinson, The Clash, Public Enemy, Motorhead, Iggy Pop, Patti Smith, Neon Indian, James Brown and A Place to Bury Strangers.
I still buy music on CD. One reason is, it's often cheaper than iTunes or Amazon, simply because my local record store is desperate for business. The other is I can control the digitization of the music when I render it to my computer and phone. So I get better quality, overall. Finally and most importantly, I have a local independent record store, which I adore and feel compelled to support as much as I can.
If you want to talk classical, I'll point to The Marriage of Figaro and Dvorak's "New World" and Holst's "The Planets".
I am not a huge country fan, but I love Emmylou Harris and Willie Nelson.

Deftones, Chevelle, APC, Of monsters and men, Walk off the Earth, Halestorm, Silversun pickups, In this moment. Yeah could go on, but ill keep the list short. lol
So I have a song I heard recently at a concert I like, If you are easily offended do not listen to it. I am a Southerner and I find it funny, also this was one of the only versions of it I found on youtube.
