In actuality, I've only ever started campaigns in either Waterdeep, Neverwinter, or Baldur's Gate in either video games, and while playing tabletop games, we've never gotten very far in our adventures due to some of our crazy party members finding various ways of getting in trouble.
But if I were to choose a favorite place to start from, I'd want to try somewhere in the Underdark. Like Ched Nasad, the City of Shimmering Webs. I've only ever really read about that place in books, and I really want to see how the city would shimmer.
Hard to say, toss up between Baldur's Gate and Neverwinter. Mostly b/c of all the time I spent in them gaming. So I guess if I have to pick one it would be NW (of course)

The game is called Neverwinter for a reason!
