The setting seems to be within a modified AD&D Core 4th Edition rule set. The world setting is Abeir-Toril (Toril "half"), on the supercontinent of Faerun. Set within The Forgotten Realms core settings, after the Neverwinter Campaign Setting.
In other words there is no officially licensed campaign setting for this product. Instead the setting is based upon much of D&D lore since Jeff Grubb's conception of Abeir-Toril and the release of the first Forgotten Realms Boxed Set in 1987 (the Old Grey Box), in which Jeff Grubb and Ed Greenwood, co-conceived Faerun.

Ed Greenwood's Forgotten Realms Neverwinter campain setting in Faerun. For me though, R.A Salvatore really helped me visualize the world of Faerun.
I love Faerun!!!.....and I really need a founders pack.

I don't understand how Cryptic can use someone with a history of anti-HAMSTER hate speech to promote STO.
Disheartened member of the Romulan Refugee "faction"
Ashamed that Cryptic wouldn't follow up on thousands of posts of negative feedback.
...but I'm trying not to hold that against it.
