1. Lets assume PvE and PvP are done extremely well, from your perspective. How do you see yourself spending the bulk of your time in Neverwinter?
• 100% PvE
• 100% PvP
• 50%-50% PvE - PvP
• PvE mostly, dabble in PvP
• PvP mostly, dabble in PvE

2. Compared to the hype surrounding the Foundry's user generated content over this past summer and fall, detailed information pertaining to character creation has been obscure.

Which build options would you prefer Neverwinter ship with upon launch:
• only pre-generated toons that follow a pre-determined route
• only pre-generated toons that you can customize as you level.
• Ability to pick your own stats, skills, feats etc and customize as you level.
• Having the choice to follow a pre-determined route or customize your own character, including determining your starting stats, skills, feats, etc.

3. Did you purchase Torchlight II solely for a closed beta key for Neverwinter?
• Yes I did, and I cant wait to start playing NWO!
• I actually wanted to play Torchlight II, so the beta key is a nice bonus! Win-Win!
• I purchased from Steam, and I'm pretty steamed about it (no closed beta key).
• I have no interest Torchlight II, or buying it.
• Yes I did, and I am sorry I did.

4. The game launches in five minutes. What is the first thing you are going to do... roll a character or enter the Foundry to start making a quest? How much time do you plan to spend in the Foundry as opposed to playing the game?

5. Name top four "mini-games" that could be incorporated into Neverwinter.

6. Guild recruitment section is starting to get busy, with many guilds currently recruiting.

8. Without a doubt the hottest topic on our forum has been closed beta access. The latest information available suggests there are a few milestones left for the dev team to accomplish before CB launches. How are you feeling right about now?
• I'm comfortably waiting. Release CB when its as bug free as possible and ready for prime time.
• I WANT MY BETA KEY! Release CB when its as bug free as possible and ready for prime time, but... I WANT MY....

1. Lets assume PvE and PvP are done extremely well, from your perspective. How do you see yourself spending the bulk of your time in Neverwinter?
• PvE mostly, dabble in PvP, interested in multi-player or team PvP over one on one PvP.

2. Compared to the hype surrounding the Foundry's user generated content over this past summer and fall, detailed information pertaining to character creation has been obscure.

Which build options would you prefer Neverwinter ship with upon launch:
• Having the choice to follow a per-determined route or customize your own character, including determining your starting stats, skills, feats, etc.
(The most choices are always the best choices.)

3. Did you purchase Torchlight II solely for a closed beta key for Neverwinter?
• I have no interest Torchlight II, or buying it. (Actually just wasn't interested in that game genre at the time.)

4. The game launches in five minutes. What is the first thing you are going to do... roll a character or enter the Foundry to start making a quest? How much time to you plan to spend in the Foundry as opposed to playing the game?

the truthseeker, wizard at you service a new adventurer...but I may have a story or two (three or four Foundry modules.)

5. Name top four "mini-games" that could be incorporated into Neverwinter.
Dragon dice or any dice game for that matter. Lockpicking. Hiring of henchmen for multiple assignments like the Doff system in STO. That is sooo addicting...and a sort of "diplomacy" mini gae once we get hig enough to run our "own keeps" for a lack of a better phrase.

6. Guild recruitment section is starting to get busy, with many guilds currently recruiting.
• What do you look for in a guild? Acceptance, community, support and a feeling of togetherness.
• What's the thing that has put you off about guilds you have joined in the past? Saying one thing but doing the opposite. See drama especially.
• What do you see as the biggest asset of joining a guild in Neverwinter, and what feature(s) can Neverwinter offer that would entice you or detract you from joining a guild? It's not as much the game as it is the players that support the guild. If there is some unique mechanic to guild support in NW that is not in other software then we'll talk later.

7. We've had our own volunteer moderators for a bit now. Using common sense (as in don't get yourself banned!) What has been the biggest plus and the biggest minus thus far, if any?

I recuse myself from that question due to internal proprietary knowledge. Well, just one, "truth is awesome!" There, I'm done now.
:p

8. Without a doubt the hottest topic on our forum has been closed beta access. The latest information available suggests there are a few milestones left for the dev team to accomplish before CB launches. How are you feeling right about now?

Thank you. Thank you very much!

10. NWO is f2p. Fluff and consumables are the only . So, what items would you happily pay for in the cash shop? Any items you absolutely will not pay for?

My pretty pretty pink pon...wait, we're serious here? Okay...
I'd pay for options to have unique custom power effects like a screaming magic missile, a unique arc of color when I swing my greatsword, a vibrating boom when I hit with my dwarven warhamer...

I'd pay for redoing my appearance to some unique options in facial/body as well as tailored options.
I'd pay for unique outfits or custom designed by me outfits.
I'd pay for unique but non compat mounts/pets. As long as Craig also has to pay for them and doesn't just ride around all day lauding us over it tongue.png

I'd pay for some sort of D&D vehicle like a coach or chariot or that Apparatus of Kwalish.

I'd pay to custom color and stencil my items.
I'm on the fence if I would or would not pay for custom emotes. And if these things were somehow tradeable that would be nice
.edit: Fogot, I refuse to buy lock-boxes!

That's all folks!

• I will first be making my wizard and leveling him up. I probably won't get around to really delving into the Foundry until I am at least half-way to level cap. As time goes on, I can see myself spending a lot of time in the Foundry. I am an alt-aholic though...

5. Name top four "mini-games" that could be incorporated into Neverwinter.
1. Dice Games
2. Lolth's Game (I forget the name off-hand)
3. Lockpicking/Pick-Pocketing
4. Card Games

6. Guild recruitment section is starting to get busy, with many guilds currently recruiting.
• What do you look for in a guild?
• Loose role-playing, kind and helpful members.
• What's the thing that has put you off about guilds you have joined in the past?
• Elitism, egos, and control freaks.
• What do you see as the biggest asset of joining a guild in Neverwinter, and what feature(s) can Neverwinter offer that would entice you or detract you from joining a guild?
• I'd like to see NPC guilds, like Mage's Guild, Rogues Guild, etc and then have players be able to form guilds that are sub-guilds to one of the major NPC Guilds.

• I would be apt to buy: Cosmetic Gear, Gear Dyes, Mounts, Rare Playable Races, Rare Cosmetic Features (Special Tattoos, Hair Colors, Eye Colors), Foundry Maps, Foundry Addons (Furniture, Monsters, and other Objects/Designs).
• I would not be apt to buy: Locked Boxes, Pay to Win Gear.

4.
Roll a character. 5% Foundry, 95% game.

5.
Disable Device.
Pick Lock.
Some type of strategy or card game. (Skins for your chess set / go set / deck of cards / etc in the CStore = money for Cryptic.)
The ability to "roll" random-number-generator "dice" through chat commands, including multiples (/roll 2d4, etc).

6.
• What do you look for in a guild?
Team PvP focus, if there is such a thing.
• What's the thing that has put you off about guilds you have joined in the past?
Inactivity or lack of interest in teaming up.
• What do you see as the biggest asset of joining a guild in Neverwinter, and what feature(s) can Neverwinter offer that would entice you or detract you from joining a guild?
It's an MMO. You join a guild.

7.
No idea, just joined these forums.

8.
None of the above. Release closed beta when it's ready for player testing. The notion of selling beta keys (which is effectively what happens when you tie beta access to a purchase of another title) is abhorrent because it implies the opposite, but the point of a beta is to find bugs, not for players to enjoy.

Assuming I expect to play the game for a long time, I will buy: respec tokens, definitely, and in large abundance if there is a strong pvp component in the game. Hair packs, costume packs, if I like them, even if there are plenty of options that I like in the main game - I like having lots of looks for my character. Cosmetic packs for player housing, if any such exist. I might, but do not expect to buy: character slots, costume slots, inventory/bank slots. I will not buy: consumables of any kind, "boosts." I will tend to quit the game if I feel forced to buy: power items, access to content, basic non-optional cosmetic or gameplay elements that seem to have been deliberately omitted from the core game.

EDIT: Oh, and I would buy the HELL out of a Fire Genasi race, if it had awesome fire-hair like the one in NWN2 and wouldn't make me less effective in combat.

That's a cool idea. It would be interesting to have some sort of combat and non-combat competition between the various super-guilds... score points by winning PvP matches, having the best rated Foundry missions, spending the most time helping under-leveled characters with quests... just because we're all on the side of the angels doesn't mean we can't compete, and if Cryptic was clever they might be able to do some positive social engineering by setting the goals of competition to such as would benefit the community.

Really can't choose, all except for 1 : P.

3. Did you purchase Torchlight II solely for a closed beta key for Neverwinter?

I have no interest Torchlight II, or buying it.

4. The game launches in five minutes. What is the first thing you are going to do... roll a character or enter the Foundry to start making a quest? How much time to you plan to spend in the Foundry as opposed to playing the game?
Roll a character, I still don't know how the foundry will be like, so it's not much of a choice ; ).

5. Name top four "mini-games" that could be incorporated into Neverwinter.
I think they should make it class-depended, for example an archer should have a shooting range, an assassin should have a silent assassinating practice, etc.

6. Guild recruitment section is starting to get busy, with many guilds currently recruiting.

I look for an active guild with an active chat, maybe a roleplaying guild, depends on the roleplaying status at the server, if not then it should definitely have a lot of active members that would talk and co-operate a lot with eachother.
What's the thing that has put you off about guilds you have joined in the past?
Non-active guilds.
What do you see as the biggest asset of joining a guild in Neverwinter, and what feature(s) can Neverwinter offer that would entice you or detract you from joining a guild?
Perhaps guild wars, bonus to EXP and drop rate while teaming up with a guildie that also bonuses the guild points you acquire, maybe a guild house that will give nice bonuses to guild mates.

7. We've had our own volunteer moderators for a bit now. Using common sense (as in don't get yourself banned!) What has been the biggest plus and the biggest minus thus far, if any?
I can't find any minus, on the other hand the pluses aren't big either, the forums aren't that much of an active so yeah, it's fine.

8. Without a doubt the hottest topic on our forum has been closed beta access. The latest information available suggests there are a few milestones left for the dev team to accomplish before CB launches. How are you feeling right about now?

I'm anxiously awaiting the game. I'm getting bored, wish it was out already, but I'll be here when it finally comes.

Cosmetics, no more than cosmetics and maybe a skill reset scroll and such - which also I support less, think it should be given away at an early level.

• 100% PvE
• 100% PvP
• 50%-50% PvE - PvP
• PvE mostly, dabble in PvP
• PvP mostly, dabble in PvE

This really depends on how the PvP system works. If I can get XP and loot from PvPing, like in Rift, it will probably be 50/50 the whole game through... maybe even 60/40 or more PvP/PvE. If not, I'll probably rush my first char to "end-game" pve content, then split my time between raids/pvp 50/50 (ish :P)

It really depends on exactly how "robust" PvP is. Some games - like Rift and Guild Wars 1 - I ran almost exclusively PvP.

2. Compared to the hype surrounding the Foundry's user generated content over this past summer and fall, detailed information pertaining to character creation has been obscure.

• Having the choice to follow a pre-determined route or customize your own character, including determining your starting stats, skills, feats, etc.

I doubt I will play this game very long (if at all) if it only ships with pre-generated toons with pre-determined routes. Customization is king. It's the core of DnD.

3. Did you purchase Torchlight II solely for a closed beta key for Neverwinter?
• Yes I did, and I cant wait to start playing NWO!
• I actually wanted to play Torchlight II, so the beta key is a nice bonus! Win-Win!

• I have no interest Torchlight II, or buying it.
• Yes I did, and I am sorry I did.

I really wanted to play Torchlight 2 but simply didn't have the funds for it at the time.
Can you still get a key for buying it?

4. The game launches in five minutes. What is the first thing you are going to do... roll a character or enter the Foundry to start making a quest? How much time to you plan to spend in the Foundry as opposed to playing the game?

I'll roll a character first, but the Foundry will come shortly after. I am very, very interested in making my own missions. I'm wondering if we'll be able to make our own PvP missions...

5. Name top four "mini-games" that could be incorporated into Neverwinter.

Basically anything that has to do with theft. Lockpicking, disable device, pickpocketing

6. Guild recruitment section is starting to get busy, with many guilds currently recruiting.
• What do you look for in a guild?
• What's the thing that has put you off about guilds you have joined in the past?
• What do you see as the biggest asset of joining a guild in Neverwinter, and what feature(s) can Neverwinter offer that would entice you or detract you from joining a guild?

Mostly I'll be looking for a guild that regularly runs organized PvP and end-game content. I don't really care for any bonuses that NWO offers for being in a guild, it's mostly about having a group of like minded players.

7. We've had our own volunteer moderators for a bit now. Using common sense (as in don't get yourself banned!) What has been the biggest plus and the biggest minus thus far, if any?

The biggest plus is that the moderators are people who are interested and invested in playing this game. It's people familiar with the lore and other games in the genre/niche. It COULD have been outside contractors with absolutely no interest in the game simply hired to police the forums. It's been much more pleasant this way - our moderators are our comrades.

The biggest minus is that Cryptic seems to have taken it to mean "they don't need us here."

8. Without a doubt the hottest topic on our forum has been closed beta access. The latest information available suggests there are a few milestones left for the dev team to accomplish before CB launches. How are you feeling right about now?

• I'm anxiously awaiting the game. I'm getting bored, wish it was out already, but I'll be here when it finally comes.

The last one. I'm going to be playing the game, so they can delay it as often as they like to get it as nice and polished as possible - honestly, that's what I'd prefer - but a little more info would be nice. Just some screenshots or something.

I don't get it? If I had to guess I'd say January or February. Although my birthday is in March, so if I magically got accepted to closed beta and it launched then, that would be a nice surprise.

10. NWO is f2p. Fluff and consumables, supposedly. So, what items would you happily pay for in the cash shop? Any items you absolutely will not pay for?

I would happily pay for mounts (although I'd like to see some mounts earnable in game), and I'd DEFINITELY pay for alternate animations (both combat and emoticon). I don't buy lock-boxes or other gambling devices.

Pay-to-win is a fine line and different people have different threshholds, but as soon as they sell any item that makes a character more powerful - an equipment upgrade, power or power upgrade - I'm out. Also, selling key's to boss chests is a big no-no. I'm very skeptical about loot upgrades - if the most powerful equipment in the game can only be obtained via money, I'm out.

Basically, I won't pay for and won't play any game where money can give you a combat edge over other players.

Reading thru but not going to quote or multi quote because it would be painful:

@Truth: vehicles like coaches and chariots sure would be classy. I forgot in my post to specify that I would only buy non-combat mounts. I'll buy nothing combat related except, as you also mentioned, alternate animations.
Also I totally spaced a diplomacy minigame. Now that I'm thinking about it, almost every DnD skill check could have a nice minigame.

@Zeb: A card game could be a lot of fun. Also, sub-guilds is a pretty amazing idea. Also, I liked the "alliance" system in GW1, where guilds could form alliances with chat channels. I don't like the idea of selling Foundry items. That just seems like restricting artistic creativity. Speaking for myself, if I want to go and make a mission for everyone to play, and I (alone) have to pay to make it look good, that just seems unfair. Plus, will people who haven't paid for those Foundry addons be able to even play in a Foundry map I've made by buying those (not that I would buy them, I probably wouldn't)? That's crossing the "pay for content" line that, I believe, Cryptic said they wouldn't do. I've actually been trying to think of a way to incorporate the Foundry into the microtransaction system without throttling creativity and haven't come up with anything brilliant yet.

@Guri: I also despise "boosts" in all forms. XP boosts, loot boosts, all of them. Make a fair system and put it out there. Bypassing or altering game mechanics with money=no thanks. It just divides the playerbase.

@Heaven: Guild houses? That sounds sweet. I'd honestly rather have that than player housing. I don't have much interest in player housing, but a small housing district in Neverwinter where competing guilds could set up shop would be pretty darned neat. I also think that at least 1 (and maybe ONLY 1) respec token should be given out for free. Players make mistakes, and a lot of frustrated players, when they learn of their critical mistake, will leave rather than re-roll a character. Also, there WILL be confusion related to the wording of skills that we pick. It's inevitable. Players will expect an ability to work one way and it will perform in another, and so will see it to be up to Cryptic to make amends. One free respec token goes a long ways in customer service.

Make my character to try and reserve my name, then play to around level 10 or so to get a feeling for some of the mechanics of the game. After that, jump in the Foundry and begin building!

5. Name top four "mini-games" that could be incorporated into Neverwinter.

I don't like or want mini-games. They are usually trivial additions added on last minute as a time waster.

6. Guild recruitment section is starting to get busy, with many guilds currently recruiting.

What do you look for in a guild? Friendly atmosphere.
What's the thing that has put you off about guilds you have joined in the past? Not a friendly atmosphere.

1. Lets assume PvE and PvP are done extremely well, from your perspective. How do you see yourself spending the bulk of your time in Neverwinter?

100% PvE

2. Compared to the hype surrounding the Foundry's user generated content over this past summer and fall, detailed information pertaining to character creation has been obscure.

Which build options would you prefer Neverwinter ship with upon launch:

Having the choice to follow a pre-determined route or customize your own character, including determining your starting stats, skills, feats, etc.

3. Did you purchase Torchlight II solely for a closed beta key for Neverwinter?

I have no interest Torchlight II, or buying it.

4. The game launches in five minutes. What is the first thing you are going to do... roll a character or enter the Foundry to start making a quest? How much time do you plan to spend in the Foundry as opposed to playing the game?

I will be rolling a character and playing to learn about the game dynamics to ensure that any foundry missions I make are optimized for the game dynamics. If I come up with a storyline that I think would be enjoyable to make and to play then I will attempt to build them. I will try to develop as many storylines as I can but the limit will be my creativity in developing them and my ability to see them to fruition in the foundry.

5. Name top four "mini-games" that could be incorporated into Neverwinter.

I tend to dislike minigames but the skill based minigames seem an interesting approach as long as the minigames do not negate the need to invest in the skills.

6. Guild recruitment section is starting to get busy, with many guilds currently recruiting.
• What do you look for in a guild?
A supportive environment that encourages cooperation and information sharing.
• What's the thing that has put you off about guilds you have joined in the past?
In a word, elitism. Where new or less capable members are derided rather than provided constructive information.
• What do you see as the biggest asset of joining a guild in Neverwinter, and what feature(s) can Neverwinter offer that would entice you or detract you from joining a guild?
Access to information and players to group with that want a similar gaming experience. The interaction of guild members tends to determine the value of a guild so I do not perceive many enticements that NW could offer beyond robust guild interaction capabilities

7. We've had our own volunteer moderators for a bit now. Using common sense (as in don't get yourself banned!) What has been the biggest plus and the biggest minus thus far, if any?

The benefits that the moderators provide is their robust knowledge of FR, D&D and NWO. Their willingness to contribute that knowledge has been extremely beneficial to me, for instance Truth's FAQ and Zebular's FR timeline, along with many other contributions. Their even handed and gentle guidance within the forums is to be appreciated as well. The biggest detriment has been that much of their time is consumed with answering similar questions repeatedly.

10. NWO is f2p. Fluff and consumables, supposedly. So, what items would you happily pay for in the cash shop? Any items you absolutely will not pay for?

I would happily pay for non-combat mounts and custom dyes or skins for my characters. I would also contribute to guild housing and upgrades. I will not pay for anything to do with lockboxes.

@Guri: I also despise "boosts" in all forms. XP boosts, loot boosts, all of them. Make a fair system and put it out there. Bypassing or altering game mechanics with money=no thanks. It just divides the playerbase.
I'm actually fine with boosts as a general idea. It's just not for me. It's just a method of internalizing the gold-selling, power-leveling markets, which I'm equally uninterested in. There will always be a demand for leveling faster and having more gold, and the only question is whether Cryptic or some game-grinding sweatshop provides the supply. Cryptic should also sell non-bound items like "costume boxes" and "boost boxes", rather than bind-on-purchase items, so that people who want to buy Gold can buy them and sell them immediately on the player exchange, create items for players, money for Cryptic, and gold for themself, instead of giving their credit card numbers to shady third-party websites.

I actually can't agree more that store-bought items should be unbound, and yes, it does result in players effectively buying gold, which means that it cuts the gold spammers out of the loop entirely. Pretty much the only praise I can give to DDO at this point is that they managed to ENTIRELY get rid of gold spammers.

@Marenor: I agree that being good at minigames should not be an alternative to investing in the skill itself.
As it is tho it looks like they are not implementing skill checks at all right now, which I would have to take to mean that there are no traps or locks.

I actually wanted to play Torchlight II, so the beta key is a nice bonus! Win-Win!

Roll and experience the game first to gauge how to go about making content. I will probably spend an equal amount of time in foundry and normal game.

5. Name top four "mini-games" that could be incorporated into Neverwinter.
I'm going to be very vague here.
Gambling(dice/cards), crafting, dungeon puzzles

What do you look for in a guild? Polite and mature members.
What's the thing that has put you off about guilds you have joined in the past? Too big to function correctly.
What do you see as the biggest asset of joining a guild in Neverwinter, and what feature(s) can Neverwinter offer that would entice you or detract you from joining a guild? Aside from enjoying being in a tight community of friends, organized guild only events and having property that belongs to and can be expanded by the guild.

Probably roll any character - see pre-requisites and everything I can for my class, quick check combat and graphics in first quest and if game take my interest further - then delete this one toon and take time - around 30-50 mins in creating perfect looking character and planning build. Then playing the game.

5. Name top four "mini-games" that could be incorporated into Neverwinter.
Not a mini game lovers. But if they are in game.... Id like something like in DDO - abbot. Mini games about trusting other player. And dependand on communication between players and agility. But Id much more prefer them as in-quest challenge than "standing in town and playing mini games alone cause im bored".

6. Guild recruitment section is starting to get busy, with many guilds currently recruiting.
[*]What do you look for in a guild?
For players who are interested with the same conctent as I am - mostly pve. For players who will help me get to know better the game and the history/plot behind it. And for players who play the same time as I, speak language I understand and like challenge ;)
[*]What's the thing that has put you off about guilds you have joined in the past?
1. Stupidity... Do I have to say more?
2. Rudeness.
3. Lack of any hm... normal interactions, coordination between guild members. Like "hi. whats up?" or any of this friendly small talk. For me guild member have to have something to talk about besides the game sometimes.
4. Powergaming. Yup, I like to have good group of people with no idiots running around swinging a wand at poor plants but... BUT - things like "there is only 1 best build for this class, its the one I have, if you have different one you are an idiot etc" or when someone joins party and tells hes/shes new and receives auto kick ...its just... meh :P. If player is skilled he/she can make funny combinations working in game ;) And intelligent new player can be great addition to a party. New doesnt mean stupid.

[*]What do you see as the biggest asset of joining a guild in Neverwinter, and what feature(s) can Neverwinter offer that would entice you or detract you from joining a guild?

7. We've had our own volunteer moderators for a bit now. Using common sense (as in don't get yourself banned!) What has been the biggest plus and the biggest minus thus far, if any?

10. NWO is f2p. Fluff and consumables, supposedly. So, what items would you happily pay for in the cash shop? Any items you absolutely will not pay for?
I will happily pay for armor kits, hair styles and thing like "reincarnation" in ddo - when u get to change almost everything besides name in your character without loosing any of character progress/gear.
Those 2 because well... maybe thats cause Im girl but... i like my character to look perfect, like in my imagination. And I really hate when I have to pick between "nice looking armor" and "uglier but with great stats/effects". It just hurts me... :P I hate to play ugly characters if I didnt imagine them this way.
And "reincarnate" because anyone can make mistake. And having to create new character cause of mistake is just... well - frustrating.
Third thing Id love to see are "opening difficulty items" - I really do not like running the same quest 3 times to get it to elite.... I would love to choose whatever difficulty I like without any problems. But if not... Thing like in ddo "bell of elite/hard unlocking/opening" <- I would love to see that,

+ thing I would pay and would like to see but LATER in game - not just past launch - XP boost, possibility to create e.g. lvl 10 character etc. Because after having 2-3 character leveling on low lvl may become boring and people may want to make it quickier. But on beggining Id like to travel slowly.

I would also pay with others for guild ship/place to look better. And for mounts ofc/companions ofc ;)/

Thing I would NEVER pay for and will be probably angry if they are in store?
- + to stats power etc.
- rare gear, named items
- exchange store points/crystals etc for in game money ....
- guild buffs
Those 3 would probably made me leave game :P.
In other word: anything that can make other player better cause he/she have money will make me

PvE mostly, dabble in PvP. I might try PvP if it looks interesting but I mostly stick to playing against myself in MMO's. I don't like embarassing myself by showing how lame I am to other players. ;)

Ability to pick your own stats, skills, feats etc and customize as you level. This is the essence of role playing for me. 75% of the fun is creating a character.

3. Did you purchase Torchlight II solely for a closed beta key for Neverwinter?

I have no interest Torchlight II, or buying it. I was tempted, but resisted. Torchlight II doesn't look appealing and I would have only bought it for the beta key which would have set a bad precedent.

4. The game launches in five minutes. What is the first thing you are going to do... roll a character or enter the Foundry to start making a quest? How much time do you plan to spend in the Foundry as opposed to playing the game?

Roll a character for sure. I might play with the Foundy a little but I'm mostly one for playing content, not creating it.

5. Name top four "mini-games" that could be incorporated into Neverwinter.

Not sure I understand what a mini-game is. If it enhances story or characterization, then I'm all in.

What's the thing that has put you off about guilds you have joined in the past? Immaturity. Racist, homophobic or sexist behavior. Forced interaction.
What do you see as the biggest asset of joining a guild in Neverwinter, and what feature(s) can Neverwinter offer that would entice you or detract you from joining a guild? I'm mostly a loner in game, but I like being able to chat with like minded folks on occasion and like watching others chat even if I don't participate. Perks for being in a guild would intice me. It would turn me off if Neverwinter exerted too much of itself into guild functioning.

10. NWO is f2p. Fluff and consumables, supposedly. So, what items would you happily pay for in the cash shop? Any items you absolutely will not pay for?

I would be turned off by manipulative items (getting a lockbox in game and being forced to buy a key, for example). Vanity items seem acceptable to me to see in the cash shop. I prefer subscription or enhanced premium games to f2p if it means that I have to piecemeal the game together or have to buy items to be competitive. If I feel manipulated or if I feel like I have to spend more than I would in a subscription game to play, I'm out.

11. Things that I'm hoping for in game that I'm adding even though you didn't ask: ;)

A. Alignment that adjusts to your in game actions.
B. Story, story, story!
C. The ability to complete content solo, if a player chooses to.
D. A game that is new/different when you roll a new class/character.
E. True to the D&D rules and history.
F. An expansive world with new content regularly.
G. A game that is successful, grows and lasts for years, maybe decades.

Yes, this means the main and side-quest storylines can all be completed solo if you wish. Or not.

Having the choice to follow a pre-determined route or customize your own character, including determining your starting stats, skills, feats, etc.
There was really only one choice there haha.

3. Did you purchase Torchlight II solely for a closed beta key for Neverwinter?

I did but I enjoyed playing Torchlight II a lot as well. It was, in a sense, a great way to spread word about the game because if it wasn't for Neverwinter I never would have enjoyed Torchlight.

4. The game launches in five minutes. What is the first thing you are going to do... roll a character or enter the Foundry to start making a quest? How much time do you plan to spend in the Foundry as opposed to playing the game?

I'd play a character first. I don't feel like I could develop good content without first playing the game but I plan to spend a decent amount of time in The Foundry too.

5. Name top four "mini-games" that could be incorporated into Neverwinter.

I really couldn't decide if I wanted to but in the lore of D&D there is no shortage of minigames. The question is, how to implement them in a meeningful way...

6. Guild recruitment section is starting to get busy, with many guilds currently recruiting.

1. I don't plan on joining a guild so I can't honestly say I look for much in them.
2. I have a job which pays money. I don't need another one in a game I play for fun.
3. In all honesty I hope there is limited reason for me or others to join guilds other than it is our desired method to play. No offense guildies.

7. We've had our own volunteer moderators for a bit now. Using common sense (as in don't get yourself banned!) What has been the biggest plus and the biggest minus thus far, if any?

I think they're all power-hungry and overpaid meanies. People work very hard to design spam bots and their way of living is seriously impeded by these new moderators. Oh wait, that's right I shouldn't be answering this question...

I WANT MY BETA KEY! Release CB when its as bug free as possible and ready for prime time, but... I WANT MY....
I'd love if it came out tomorrow but it's ready when it's ready.

I'd pay for various things which made my character stand out. Anything to look like the most bad HAMSTER person on the block.
However I wouldn't pay and would likely stop playing if they started selling items of power for real world cash.

1. Lets assume PvE and PvP are done extremely well, from your perspective. How do you see yourself spending the bulk of your time in Neverwinter?
• PvE mostly, dabble in PvP

2. Compared to the hype surrounding the Foundry's user generated content over this past summer and fall, detailed information pertaining to character creation has been obscure.

Which build options would you prefer Neverwinter ship with upon launch:

• I have no interest Torchlight II, or buying it.

4. The game launches in five minutes. What is the first thing you are going to do... roll a character or enter the Foundry to start making a quest? How much time do you plan to spend in the Foundry as opposed to playing the game?
Roll a character, play it for a while, then dabble in the foundry. After that who knows.

5. Name top four "mini-games" that could be incorporated into Neverwinter.
Card Games
Dungeon Puzzles
Character Skill based games (roll playing training to improve, but would not actually count)
Crafting of armour, magical equipment, potions, etc.

6. Guild recruitment section is starting to get busy, with many guilds currently recruiting.
• What do you look for in a guild? Camaraderie, mutual assistance with character/class advice
• What's the thing that has put you off about guilds you have joined in the past? Immaturity, Elitism, necessity to join to survive/get better gear
• What do you see as the biggest asset of joining a guild in Neverwinter, and what feature(s) can Neverwinter offer that would entice you or detract you from joining a guild? You can enjoy the game with like minded individuals, but forced participation or group(party) play will detract from that. Sometimes I like to go with a group, other times I prefer to go it alone.

7. We've had our own volunteer moderators for a bit now. Using common sense (as in don't get yourself banned!) What has been the biggest plus and the biggest minus thus far, if any? A plus is that they enjoy the game, and they generally will do a better job to keep things enjoyable for everyone. A minus that it does take a great deal of time, and they lose game time. This could be made up by getting in "credits" for the fluff that be purchased.

• Closed beta launches --
• March 2013 (with a Gold launch Sept.-Oct. time frame)

10. NWO is f2p. Fluff and consumables, supposedly. So, what items would you happily pay for in the cash shop? Any items you absolutely will not pay for? I'd pay for cosmetics, such as the ability to create your own heraldic insignia, design unique looking armour/artifacts, things that make my character different from others. I'd even pay for upgraded character housing, move up from a hovel/hut to a house/castle/mage's tower. That would allow for even more customizations that could be charged for. However the fee is too high it will backfire, after all we would be paying for pixels. I will not pay for lockboxes/buffs/power gear. I will not pay for the ability to have a +2 backscratcher. I will not pay to be able to defeat bosses. That will make me quit in a New York minute.

There are my answers to your poll.

1. 100% PvE

2. Having the choice to follow a pre-determined route or customize your own character, including determining your starting stats, skills, feats, etc.

However, I don't necessarily want them to use 4E's ability score, skill, and feat mechanics. Talent trees are fine. Just give me a good opportunity to mix and match talent trees, and mix classes, and I'll be happy.

3. I have no interest Torchlight II, or buying it.

4. Roll a character.

5. Can't say I'm all that fond of "minigames" in RPGs. Especially not repetitive minigames for resolving skill checks. The "lockpicking" and "dispelling wards" minigames got old real quick in Kingdoms of Amalur, for example.

6. Not all that into guilds. Just want a group of people I know I can trust when I want to group up to run things. I really hope Neverwinter doesn't end up with a "dragon-kill-points"-style end-game. DDO's dominant end-game culture is pretty much perfect: loot is distributed randomly to party members by the game, and you take your loot, or you put it up for roll for anyone in the party who wants it. Even "guildies-first" policies are rare, and frowned-upon. "Need before greed" is encouraged, but is very fluid, as any class has builds that can use pretty much any item. My Bard wears raid-loot "intended" for Fighters, Monks, and Barbarians, for example, and that's very standard. There are Sorcerers with Greatswords, and they are not bad builds.

7. Pretty new to the forums here, so can't really comment.

8. I'm comfortably waiting. Release CB when its most advantageous to the development process to do so. It's OK for the CB to have bugs; that's the point of it.

9. February 2013

10. I would pay for:
• Outfits, if they are reasonably priced (no more than a few dollars), and can be freely combined with other armor, and removed and sent to another one of my character's if I want.
• Content (even though they said the content will be free, I think selling content is fine too)
• XP potions, possibly. I bought them on DDO, but mostly only with the free monthly allotment of points I got as a subscriber. Not sure if I'd have bought points just to buy XP pots.

I will not pay for consumables with gameplay-altering effects easily obtainable in-game. No healing potions, or status-effect-removing potions, for example.

I will stop playing the game if they sell powerful items, not available in-game, or hard to get in-game. My loss of interest in DDO was pretty much precipitated by them starting to sell +3 tomes. Technically, they are consumables, but up until then, had been among the most sought after, and rare, Raid-loot items, only exceeded by +4 tomes.
