    I'm a full time roleplayer and will certainly have a wizard; it would be fun to RP in a Mages Guild.

    I'm a fan of names that make it clear what the group is. A Gauntlet sounds like some kind of test or trial. Unless we all WEAR Azure Gauntlets. Perhaps a name that makes it clear we are an Order or Circle, both words that suggest an organization of some kind. We might be an Academy or School or College.

    Suggestions are -very- welcome. I am horrible with names, personally. :P

    There's nothing wrong with Azure if you like it. Every old school Realms payer is immediately going to think of Curse of the Azure Bonds, one of the most famous D&D computer games ever. Also, the Spellplague is blue. So pick Azure if you want people to think of the Spellplague when they meet us.

    Names are good when they sound cool, make sense, and say something.

    So, let's step back a bit. What do you want this group of Wizards to be about? What's our schtick? When we know what we are and what we're doing in this town, names will sound much cooler.

    Well, I can say for certain it won't be a school, or an academy. Thing more in line of the Cowled Wizards of Amn, just a tad less totalian and in charge (should be reserved for the NPCs, not players)

    I think our main goals will be in the line of:

    * Secure magical artifacts
    * Secure position magical forefront
    * Sharing of knowledge and such, amongst ourselves.

    Good, good. OK, do you imagine us doing this legally and legitimately, as a formal "Wizard's Guild" or mercenary outfit, or do you want to do it illegally or secretly, as perhaps a conspiracy of like-minded Wizards, or something along the lines of an Assassin's Guild?

    I am ENTIRELY against the idea of players assuming the authority role - that is best left to the NPCS and the Developers' lore. Think more in the line of an independent covenant of like-minded wizards - the kind of guys you go to, because you know they have the answers. I wouldn't call it illegal, just detached from government, like the Harpers.

    Awesome. The idea seems to be coming together. The Harpers are a great model; everyone knows them and they are pretty much a classic "adventurer's guild", at least on the surface. Not that they charge dues and stuff like a guild would, but in the traditional D&D sense of "a bunch of characters who hang out together when they're not off exploring dungeons, and who basically work for good ends."

    You can decide if the group even has a formal "Charter" and is an organization like that, or if its just an informal group of Wizards who all know one another and like to hang out and trade spellbooks.

    If you really want to remind people of the Harpers, then we want to name the guild as if it was a band. It's a "The..." These are not serious names, I am just illustrating the point: The Fireballs, the Magic Missiles, the Traveling Spellberries, whatever.

    If you want it to sound a little more official, then I suggest some kind of <blank> Circle or <blank> Order, or <blank> Company. You can also put the organization name in front: The Circle of <Blank>, the Order of <Blank>. If you want to stick with Argent -- because you want us to wear blue, for example -- then put "Argent" in for <Blank> and you have a name.

    'Ey guys, sorry for being away for a while - a few more IRL projects lining up, heh. So, I'm still committed to the idea, and I've been thinking of a name. How does "the Silver Circle" sound to you lot? We could always justify the name by having our members wear silver rings engraved with the initials of the order, or somesuch.

    I think a connection to the Many-Starred Cloaks is in order. If we're focusing on RP, then that already gives players a hook into Neverwinter's backstory.

    Mmh... personally I think it's better if we're more of an independent organisation entirely. This allows us more freedom, and I'm not one to take -too- much authority in the name of NPCs and so on. Although, it's not impossible that we might have connections to them.

    Oh, we got a name, just need to figure out how to edit the topic-headline, since it was created before the whole account-merge thingie, ah well.

    The name would be "The Silver Circle", for reasons I mentioned earlier.

    Also, for our requirements, I think we'll head for the good old "quanity over quality" concept, meaning that the follow standards will probably be set in stone:

    * A firm grasp of the English language.
    * Knowledge of the Forgotten Realms setting.
    * Roleplaying competence.

    Pre forum merge threads with PWE can't be edited by users and it's not clear if moderators/company employees can or can just delete threads.

    It may become necessary to make a new thread one day.

    I've really been reluctant to join any guilds in the past few MMO's that I've played in, and the truth be told, that has hampered my playing a bit, but not overly so. Having played a lot of games over the years and joined quite a few guilds, I've enjoyed the friendships that I built during that time, but in recent years, guilds seem to have become somewhat onerous.

    I do look forward to joining a guild in this game and starting off with them at kickoff, rather than taking a "wait and see" attitude that I've been using. I wish you luck as you continue to lay the ground work for this guild and I will continue to follow your progress.

    My Best,

    Ezra Steel
