Hot Topics post GenCon 2012

This eight poll continues to focus on the hottest topics that have arisen on the forums over the past few weeks.

There is no date range for the polls, so if you havent had a chance to do earlier polls, please feel free to go back and register your vote!

1. The biggest news of course out of GenCon is the delay of the Neverwinter launch until sometime in 2013. This begs the question, should Cryptic get beta rolled out as soon as possible? What are some pros and cons of a long vs a short beta?

2. Cryptic finally put on exhibition the Foundry, to rave reviews. Excitement here on the forum seems to be at a fever's pitch. What are you most excited about? And what questions do you still seek answers to?

3. The character creation thread exploded this week. With so much hype surrounding user generated content at GenCon last week, it seems information pertaining to character creation just wasn't there.

Which build options would you prefer Neverwinter ship with upon launch:

a. only pre-generated toons that follow a pre-determined route
b. only pre-generated toons that you can customize as you level.
c. Ability to pick your own stats, skills, feats etc and customize as you level.
d. Having the option to follow a pre-determined route or customize your own character, including determining your stats, skills, feats, etc.

How important is having control over the building and leveling of your character? What are the pros and cons of a robust character creation and leveling system with excellent descriptions and options as opposed to a streamlined character creation system which pre configures the creation and path(s) your character can take?

4. Free Swim! If you could ask the devs any question about the game that's not covered in this poll, and that hasn't been answered by the devs yet, what would it (they) be? Please ask a maximum of 4 questions.

5. The Neverwinter Volunteer Moderators forum is alive and well. However, the web design team has seemingly went AWOL. If you had a chance to be hired as a Cryptic web designer, what would you want to add or change on this website, if anything?

6. Did you purchase Torchlight II solely for a closed beta key for Neverwinter?
a. Yes I did, and I cant wait to start playing NWO!
b. I actually wanted to play Torchlight II, so the beta key is a nice bonus! Win-Win!
c. I purchased from Steam, and I'm pretty steamed about it (no closed beta key).
d. I have no interest Torchlight II, or buying it.

7. Please list the top 12 4E playable classes you'd like to see introduced, in the order you'd like to see them introduced. Just list 12 classes here, thanks!

10. In one sentence please name the #1 feature/concern that you dislike to the point of possibly not playing the game/walking away from it? Name one feature that you'd love to see added to the game, that you don't believe will make it in at launch, but would love to see happen at launch or soon after.

    1. The biggest news of course out of GenCon is the delay of the Neverwinter launch until sometime in 2013. This begs the question, should Cryptic get beta rolled out as soon as possible? What are some pros and cons of a long vs a short beta?

A- Internal beta is better even though I hate it, because once the footages start leaking out (or at least the opinions) they have to be positive to get as many people initially as possible. Soon more games will come and people will like to go for them and may not find it better to leave them. So having a "fake beta" of almost finished product may be better.

    2. Cryptic finally put on exhibition the Foundry, to rave reviews. Excitement here on the forum seems to be at a fever's pitch. What are you most excited about? And what questions do you still seek answers to?

I did put some new questions in stromshade's thread, but foundry does look nice. Though I hope cinematics can be created in missions. With cinematics, story telling is easier.

    3. The character creation thread exploded this week. With so much hype surrounding user generated content at GenCon last week, it seems information pertaining to character creation just wasn't there.

Which build options would you prefer Neverwinter ship with upon launch:

    b. only pre-generated toons that you can customize as you level.
Though I like complete customisation, but I think this one will be in at launch.

    4. Free Swim! If you could ask the devs any question about the game that's not covered in this poll, and that hasn't been answered by the devs yet, what would it (they) be? Please ask a maximum of 4 questions.
    can i haz beta? :D

    5. The Neverwinter Volunteer Moderators forum is alive and well. However, the web design team has seemingly went AWOL. If you had a chance to be hired as a Cryptic web designer, what would you want to add or change on this website, if anything?
The cryptic designers are quite good as we have seen in their art, but the forums are really ugly barring a few odd pages. It will not be considered as boasting if many of us claim they can make a better forum website than this.

    6. Did you purchase Torchlight II solely for a closed beta key for Neverwinter?
    d. I have no interest Torchlight II, or buying it.

    7. Please list the top 12 4E playable classes you'd like to see introduced, in the order you'd like to see them introduced. Just list 12 classes here, thanks!

Swordmage - Is a core class for FR. (Like artificer is for Eberron)

    Bard
    Monk
    Sorcerer
    Warlock
    Avenger
    Ardent

    8. Please list the top 12 4E playable races you'd like to see introduced, in the order you'd like to see them introduced. Just list 12 races here, thanks!

No Warforged please. Its not FR.

    Human
    Eladrin
    Genasi
and well drow are FR, so meh...

    9. The game launches in five minutes. What is the first thing you are going to do... roll a character or enter the Foundry to start making a quest? How much time to you plan to spend in the Foundry as opposed to playing the game?

Foundry. Character creation takes too much time, so I will leave it for next weekend :)

    10. In one sentence please name the #1 feature/concern that you dislike to the point of possibly not playing the game/walking away from it? Name one feature that you'd love to see added to the game, that you don't believe will make it in at launch, but would love to see happen at launch or soon after.[/QUOTE]

Multiclassing and hybrid system implementation from 4e along with complete character customization.

As soon as possible and invite me:)

    2. Cryptic finally put on exhibition the Foundry, to rave reviews. Excitement here on the forum seems to be at a fever's pitch. What are you most excited about? And what questions do you still seek answers to?

looks good, though I willl likely play the content rather than create, though you never know.

    3. The character creation thread exploded this week. With so much hype surrounding user generated content at GenCon last week, it seems information pertaining to character creation just wasn't there.

    d. Having the option to follow a pre-determined route or customize your own character, including determining your stats, skills, feats, etc.

those be nice, but do not mind pre gen with cust as level. Aslong as there is enough to be able not to look like clones running around and pick skill to specialise in and feat ect, which there seems to be I will be happy. and game play fun of course

    4. Free Swim! If you could ask the devs any question about the game that's not covered in this poll, and that hasn't been answered by the devs yet, what would it (they) be? Please ask a maximum of 4 questions.

    more about the pet system
    more about merceneries
multi classing? though some class might be kinda multiclass.

    5. The Neverwinter Volunteer Moderators forum is alive and well. However, the web design team has seemingly went AWOL. If you had a chance to be hired as a Cryptic web designer, what would you want to add or change on this website, if anything?

    not sure

    Start rolling a char!

Hopefully be a market for game items, in game currency and real money currency, but as CO and STO haver that I assume it will. Guild/player houseing? Ways to transfer stuff between chars, I do like "heirloom" items, ie ones get later in agme but for alts. Pet classes? Mercenery that are permanent and can modify/spec.

    1. The biggest news of course out of GenCon is the delay of the Neverwinter launch until sometime in 2013. This begs the question, should Cryptic get beta rolled out as soon as possible? What are some pros and cons of a long vs a short beta?

No, unless they also plan a public alpha, they should make sure their beta functions properly before releasing so it's actually useful. Longer better than shorter, of course, since it's more time to polish the game. Though maybe a closed beta first, with NDA attached so game gets good publicity by the time it's in OBT.

    2. Cryptic finally put on exhibition the Foundry, to rave reviews. Excitement here on the forum seems to be at a fever's pitch. What are you most excited about? And what questions do you still seek answers to?

I'm hoping to see an external map editor as well, not just preset areas. And customizable foundry-made guildhouses. I am excited at the thought of favorite D&D adventures being remade in NWO, so hopefully the tool is flexible enough for the job, and my favorite modders are up to it :D

    3. The character creation thread exploded this week. With so much hype surrounding user generated content at GenCon last week, it seems information pertaining to character creation just wasn't there.

Which build options would you prefer Neverwinter ship with upon launch:

    d. Having the option to follow a pre-determined route or customize your own character, including determining your stats, skills, feats, etc.

Options are good, and I'm fine with someone wanting to play a pregen character. That's not what I'd like to do, though.

    4. Free Swim! If you could ask the devs any question about the game that's not covered in this poll, and that hasn't been answered by the devs yet, what would it (they) be? Please ask a maximum of 4 questions.

How will crafting work? How (specifically) will the f2p system/store work?

    5. The Neverwinter Volunteer Moderators forum is alive and well. However, the web design team has seemingly went AWOL. If you had a chance to be hired as a Cryptic web designer, what would you want to add or change on this website, if anything?

Hard to say, the forum is awkward to use, but I can't put my finger on it. I do want the ability to quick-reply without tagging a post first, though. And, more regular news/content updates on the front page

    6. Did you purchase Torchlight II solely for a closed beta key for Neverwinter?

    e. I'm thinking about it. Since the NWO Beta got delayed along with the game, I'm thinking I could find a better place to spend money than TLII. It's a cool game and all, but I doubt I'd spend much time on it.

    7. Please list the top 12 4E playable classes you'd like to see introduced, in the order you'd like to see them introduced. Just list 12 classes here, thanks!

    Avenger
    Druid
    Fighter
    Paladin
    Ranger
    Rogue
    Shaman
    Seeker
    Sorcerer
    Warlock

    Assassin
    Swordmage

    8. Please list the top 12 4E playable races you'd like to see introduced, in the order you'd like to see them introduced. Just list 12 races here, thanks!

    Dwarf
    Eladrin
    Elf
    Githzerai
    Gnome
    Half-Orc
    Halfling
    Human
    Tiefling

    Drow
    Genasi

    9. The game launches in five minutes. What is the first thing you are going to do... roll a character or enter the Foundry to start making a quest? How much time to you plan to spend in the Foundry as opposed to playing the game?

Play first, dabble in quest-making later. a) can't make content w/o getting a feel for the game mechanics first and b) I'll likely dabble but doubt I have the time and patience to make anything worthwhile.

    10. In one sentence please name the #1 feature/concern that you dislike to the point of possibly not playing the game/walking away from it? Name one feature that you'd love to see added to the game, that you don't believe will make it in at launch, but would love to see happen at launch or soon after.

A good f2p system. PWE has very bad reputation on this, and it will determine how much time I spend with this game. So I'd like to hold Cryptic to their word, "cosmetics and convenience ONLY".

As for what I'd like to see added that likely won't be in at launch, see #3. As much as I want it, looks like customization isn't going to happen.

    1. What are some pros and cons of a long vs a short beta?

Long: We have a better chance at a good and well-tested game, but we have to wait longer for the release.
Short: We have a better chance of actually playing the game sometime soon but it might still be buggy.

    2. What are you most excited about? And what questions do you still seek answers to?

I'm pretty "meh" about the Foundry myself. I'm a player, not a builder.

    3. Which build options would you prefer Neverwinter ship with upon launch:

    c. Ability to pick your own stats, skills, feats etc and customize as you level. I really prefer the "free roam" customisation. I dislike pre-gens. They're never quite exactly what I want to play.

How important is having control over the building and leveling of your character? What are the pros and cons of a robust character creation and leveling system with excellent descriptions and options as opposed to a streamlined character creation system which pre configures the creation and path(s) your character can take?

Exceedingly important. Pros: we can make the character we want to make. The streamlined method might get people playing faster, at the expense of people playing a character they feel some ownership of.

    4. Free Swim! If you could ask the devs any question about the game that's not covered in this poll, and that hasn't been answered by the devs yet, what would it (they) be? Please ask a maximum of 4 questions.

    no questions

    5. If you had a chance to be hired as a Cryptic web designer, what would you want to add or change on this website, if anything?

Ditch the bears and re-design the forum so the first thing someone does is NOT to have to scroll down to get to the meat.

    Fighter
    Cleric
    Rogue
    Wizard
    Bard
    Druid
    Paladin
    Ranger
    Barbarian
    Sorcerer
    Warlock
    Warlord

    8. Please list the top 12 4E playable races you'd like to see introduced, in the order you'd like to see them introduced. Just list 12 races here, thanks!

    Dwarf
    Eladrin
    Elf
    Gnome
    Half-Elf
    Half-Orc
    Halfling
    Human
    Dragonborn
    Tiefling
    Warforged

    9. The game launches in five minutes. What is the first thing you are going to do... roll a character or enter the Foundry to start making a quest? How much time to you plan to spend in the Foundry as opposed to playing the game?

Create a character. I doubt I'll spend much, if any, time in the Foundry.

    1. It's ready when it's ready. I don't care if that means beta doesn't start till 2013.

2&3. Character creation, building and progression. I don't like min/maxing, but I do like having options.

    4. Nothing at the moment.

    5. Site is fine for now.

    6. D. TL2 is not on my list of games to play. TL1 was pretty weak, the Runic hype is over.

    7. In my opinion you can't have DnD without:

    Cleric
    Fighter
    Paladin
    Ranger
    Rogue
    Wizard

Other than those, it would be nice to have:

    Bard
    Druid
    Sorcerer
    Warlord

    8. Humans. I only play as a Human.

    9. Play, then foundry... time permitting.

    1. A longer Beta means that more issues can be resolved before they get "harcoded" into the game. This also allows people to play and get bored with the game before it ever hits the market as many people don't play games for long periods at a time.

    2. I'm excited that it seems very in depth, easy to use and will hopefully result in a wide array of UGC. however I'd really like to know how advanced they plan to allow tools to remain (scripting, encounters, waypoints) What they showed thus far was somewhat similar to the basic NWN1 toolset.

    3. C. I don't believe it's D&D without character customization. While this can create gaps in charcter strengths it is also a core to D&D gameplay. Pregenerated paths should be made but players should always have the ability to opt off any path.

    4. Will there be a cap on Foundry missions at all DM Levels or after a certain point will we be given free reign?

    5. The smilies and perhaps some of the search features such as looking for posts by specific players.

    6. A. I'm not exactly proud of it but $20 was fairly cheap compared to having to go to a game convention for guaranteed access. If I had the option I wouldn't have bought into it out of spite but it was money I had to spare anyway and I'm trying to believe it will go to the betterment of the game ultimately.

    7. Fighter, Rogue, Wizard, Ranger, Cleric, Paladin, Barbarian, Assassin, Monk, Druid, Sorcerer, Avenger

    8. Elf, Dwarf, Human, Halfing, Gnome, Drow, Tiefling, Half-Elf, Half-Orc, Eladrin, Shifter, Dragonborn

    9. Roll a character. Making Foundry content won't do much good without some basic understanding of the game's in game mechanics first.

    10. The Foundry. It's what will separate this from every other MMO on the market. I'd like to see a as much support towards old-style NWN persistent worlds as possible after launch though. (hightmap editor, multi-content developer features, limited scripting, unique item creation to be used in their world only..etc.)

I think a medium length beta. First make sure the game is far enough along to get the best input from the bigger beta, then make sure it is long enough to actually use that input. IMO the STO closed beta was WAY too short. The SWTOR closed beta was extremely long (and we were mostly ignored). So a medium length one would be best IMO.
    2. Cryptic finally put on exhibition the Foundry, to rave reviews. Excitement here on the forum seems to be at a fever's pitch. What are you most excited about? And what questions do you still seek answers to?

It looks VERY accessible! I think they have done a great job at making it usable everyone. It reminds me of NWN1 toolset in that aspect and that is a good thing.

My biggest question is Will we be able to make monsters Wander, Activate Traps, warn others, etc.

I think D is the best path. D allows those who want to have full control to have it, while giving a easy entry for new players who may not know how to create a good character or not want to bother with the details. D is the way that DDO has gone, and I think it is a good idea to be honest.

For me I want full control over my character. I think it is VERY important to give the player as much control as possible over their character.

    4. Free Swim! If you could ask the devs any question about the game that's not covered in this poll, and that hasn't been answered by the devs yet, what would it (they) be? Please ask a maximum of 4 questions.

    1. Will we be able to remove the beard horns from male tieflings? There is official art showing them without those and I would very much like this option. I noticed that in the foundry preview all Male Tieflings had them though.

    2. Will we be able to fully customize areas? Not just picking a prefab area, but a more barebones one that we populate? I would like to select where the tables, rocks, etc. go

    3. Jack made a comment during GenCon that made it seem as though you are still working toward allowing Persistant Worlds (yay!) is this true?

    5. The Neverwinter Volunteer Moderators forum is alive and well. However, the web design team has seemingly went AWOL. If you had a chance to be hired as a Cryptic web designer, what would you want to add or change on this website, if anything?

I am not fond of the Bear Icons. Replace them with plain ones or more thematically correct ones please.

    A. Yes, Yes I did.
    7. Please list the top 12 4E playable classes you'd like to see introduced, in the order you'd like to see them introduced. Just list 12 classes here, thanks!

    1. Rogue
    2. SwordMage
    3. Ranger
    4. Monk
    5. Bladesinger
    6. Fighter
    7. Wizard
    8. Warlock
    9. Sorcerer
    10. Warden
    11. Psion
    12. Artificer

    8. Please list the top 12 4E playable races you'd like to see introduced, in the order you'd like to see them introduced. Just list 12 races here, thanks!

    1. Deva
    2. Mul
    3. Tiefling
    4. Genasi
    5. Shifter
    6. Half Elf
    7. Halfling
    8. Elf
    9. Eladrin
    10. Dwarf
    11. Githzerai
    12. Gnome

    9. The game launches in five minutes. What is the first thing you are going to do... roll a character or enter the Foundry to start making a quest? How much time to you plan to spend in the Foundry as opposed to playing the game?

Make a Character!!! I plan on using the Foundry a lot, but I love love love to play!
    10. In one sentence please name the #1 feature/concern that you dislike to the point of possibly not playing the game/walking away from it? Name one feature that you'd love to see added to the game, that you don't believe will make it in at launch, but would love to see happen at launch or soon after.

If the game lost its DnD feel and feels too much an MMO then I will be gone. I want to feel like I am in Forgotten Realms and not Azeroth. The look and feel must be DnDish, I can live with some grinding but not endless grinding for grinding sake.

I hope for full item/gear customization. I want to be able to look the way I envision and not be limited to what I pick up. Let me customize my armor, weapons, etc. to get the look I want.

My biggest question is Will we be able to make monsters Wander, Activate Traps, warn others, etc.

In the last foundry presentation vid I saw (HD closeup w/ human female fighter), Craig mentioned some of this. Nothing about traps, but he did say you could set waypoints, and have event-activated monster reactions (I think the example was something like enter room, monsters run in from behind the pillars).

    1. The biggest news of course out of GenCon is the delay of the Neverwinter launch until sometime in 2013. This begs the question, should Cryptic get beta rolled out as soon as possible?
Not as soon as possible. Closed and Open Betas should start when Cryptic (not PWE) is ready to start CBT and OBT respectively. I would rather have to wait than have the game's production be rushed, for any reason.
What are some pros and cons of a long vs a short beta?
Longer Beta Phases will generally mean more bug fixes into release. This alone should be a major factor in deciding how long Betas should last. However, too long of betas will generally create a mixed atmosphere among the more critically opinionated players. This is why Betas should have events and other things that keep players off the thought of how long the beta phase has been and will be.
    2. Cryptic finally put on exhibition the Foundry, to rave reviews. Excitement here on the forum seems to be at a fever's pitch. What are you most excited about?
I am really looking forward to bringing many of my own adventures alive in the Forgotten Realms through the Foundry. As well, I am really just looking forward to playing in the Forgotten Realms in an MMO atmosphere. I have been very vocal about my disdain for DDO choosing Eberron since it was first officially announced through media-first press releases. So, even more so than the Foundry, I am just really excited to finally being able to play in the Forgotten Realms, instead of DMing it for a decade.
And what questions do you still seek answers to?
Is there a chance or any plans to get other renowned authors, like Ed Greenwood, to provide official adventure story-lines?

Who are the people actually creating the official story-lines and adventure plots? Are they Cryptic or PWE employees, if so, what are their D&D backgrounds? Or, are they WotC employees? Or both?

    D. D&D is all about Choice. If a new player in my campaign wanted me to roll him up a quick random character, I would. Just like I would allow them to roll one up for themselves. I expect no less from Neverwinter Online.
How important is having control over the building and leveling of your character?
    Extremely important.
What are the pros and cons of a robust character creation and leveling system with excellent descriptions and options as opposed to a streamlined character creation system which pre configures the creation and path(s) your character can take?
A robust system will appeal to the already existent D&D player-base, lead to community involvement through the creation of Character Creation Guides and Builds and allow players to create the character they wish. A pre-configured set path will annoy and alienate the advanced dungeons and dragons players, leaving them feeling as though the game will always be holding their hands. Something I do not want and something I know my players in my Campaign would totally be annoyed at me for being a DM that doesn't allow much customization and freedom of path and choice. Pro, you'll have more young players who care only about the quick gratification which can also be a con.
    4. Free Swim! If you could ask the devs any question about the game that's not covered in this poll, and that hasn't been answered by the devs yet, what would it (they) be? Please ask a maximum of 4 questions.
I'd like to know about Quest Voice Overs, Dungeon Voice Overs and the like. I have really fallen in love with the Voice Overs used in the early then later material for STO. As well as in SWtoR, DCUO, and even the DM voice-overs in DDO. I hope to see similar in NWO.
    5. The Neverwinter Volunteer Moderators forum is alive and well. However, the web design team has seemingly went AWOL. If you had a chance to be hired as a Cryptic web designer, what would you want to add or change on this website, if anything?
I would make the layout of the website and forums uniformly stretch and fit any resolution they are displayed on. Having 1/2 of the screen being empty black space, is quite peculiar.
    D. I have no interest Torchlight II, or buying it.
    7. Please list the top 12 4E playable classes you'd like to see introduced, in the order you'd like to see them introduced. Just list 12 classes here, thanks!
    In order of most preferred:
    1. Wizard
    2. Druid
    3. Wildmage
    4. Rogue
    5. Sorcerer
    6. Ranger
    7. Cleric
    8. Paladin
    9. Fighter
    10. Psionic
    11. Bard
    12. Swordpriest

    8. Please list the top 12 4E playable races you'd like to see introduced, in the order you'd like to see them introduced. Just list 12 races here, thanks!
    In order of most preferred:
    1. Elf, Drow
    2. Elf, Faerunian
    3. Elf, Feydark (Eladrin)
    4. Half-Dragon
    5. Human
    6. Tiefling
    7. Dwarf
    8. Gnome
    9. Half-Elf
    10. Genasi
    11. Gnome
    12. Halfling
Warforged should not exist in the FR except as NPCs who some-how managed to get here from Eberron. Yeah, I really dislike that race. In fact, I loathe Eberron as a whole.
    9. The game launches in five minutes. What is the first thing you are going to do... roll a character or enter the Foundry to start making a quest?

Roll a character! It will probably be at least a week or two after I have fun playing the game that I will really start to indulge in the Foundry.
How much time to you plan to spend in the Foundry as opposed to playing the game?

A great deal. I have been DMing Forgotten Realms since around 1995, so I have a lot of adventures - many that never seen the light of play, that I would love to re-create in the Foundry.
    10. In one sentence please name the #1 feature/concern that you dislike to the point of possibly not playing the game/walking away from it?

The Cash Shop. I hope to never see the cash shop become a pay-to-win store. I hope, as it has been stated it will, it remains purely cosmetic and convience items. The moment we're able to start buying power (equipment that affects balance), I will be very disappointed.

Repetative grinding is also one of my most loathed "features" and you all at Cryptic know my plight against that in STO very well. Please steer clear of introducing anything similar to the Repetitively Boring and Annoying Dilithium Grind-fest we have in STO. Seriously.

Name one feature that you'd love to see added to the game, that you don't believe will make it in at launch, but would love to see happen at launch or soon after.

The ability to choose a specific Deity as your patron deity even if not a divine class. I hope such a list will also include "dead" gods that are still worshiped, such as Mystra and Eilistrasee.

I'd also like to see a way to create a Foundry Adventure that can have an active DM within it to create random events and even provide narrative voice-overs in real time (for those who use headsets) or even through text chat.

    1. Longer beta, iron out all the bugs, for DM UGC testors and player content testers.

    2. playtester, so not a UGC'er till game launch

3.d. Having the option to follow a pre-determined route or customize your own character, including determining your stats, skills, feats, etc.

Makes you toon stand out abit, be it from yourself or other's knowing what you have put into it, gives you some sort of sense of accomplishment.

    4. Cashshop?, still not convinced this is the only question doing my head in atm

    5. the Website is hard to read, and even though fellow posters, sigs ect divide posts to some degree, i feel the old web design broke this up more. Maybe its the rezz im running at. the tools to search are abit of a jumbled mess

    6. yep bought it, needed something to play while waitng for the callup, fellow guildies are excited about TLII as well.

7.Only really hate the monk class, dont feel it belongs in my opinion.

    8. dragonborn,Goliath, deva, minotaur, wilden,Changeling
    Drow,Genasi,Kalashtar,Githzerai,Gnome,Half-Orc

    hate warforged.

    9. Roll a toon, play 1st, ugc laterz

    10.cashshop
    is my only concern

    1.

Wait until it is highly presentable, 99% working. It'd be crappy if people got turned off and the movement to play/hype lost impetous because of a really long, buggy beta phase.

    2.

I understand that they hope to include persistant instances. Does this mean that I can create a guild hall/player housing?

Can I create a quest that would act as a guild initiation/right of passage in order to gain access to the persistant guild hall?

In a quest, can objectives be and/or? (solve in different ways, arrive at same conclusion).

    3.

Undecided. Allowing total freedom is not good for balance, leads to confusion of roles, there isn't pride in class (being the best at a certain class), pvp becomes less tactical/strategic as you don't know what you're up against with every single different person you fight (like chess with no rules).

However, it makes for more interesting characters and encourages pride in your own creation.

From what I have seen, I think they are going the right way about it already. The classes are limited to their role and function, but highly customisable in and of themselves.

    4.

    Can rogues disable traps/pick locks?
Are there physical skill challanges as well as verbal?

    5.
Make sure people stay on topic, or at least in the same area.
Get rid of the spam bots advertising movies and the like.
Youtube and image links visible on screen instead of hyperlinked.

    6.
    d. I have no interest Torchlight II, or buying it.
I have fallen out of love with hack and slash. Maybe I would buy it if it were on console and couch co-op, but not on pc.

    7.

    Character classes 4e PHB III:

    Fighter
    Rogue
    Barbarian
    Bard
    Warlock
    Wizard
    Sorcerer
    Cleric
    Druid
    Paladin
    Ranger
    Shaman

    Non-core and entirely optional classes:

    Assassin
    Swordmage

    8.

    Half-Orc
    Dwarf
    Dragonborn
    Shifter
    Goliath
    Mul
    Tiefling
    Human
    Half-Elf
    Eladrin
    Elf
    Halfling

    9.

I plan to spend a lot of time in the foundry, but if it were to launch in five minutes I'd dive right into making my character b:cool

    10.
    Hate: Pay to win

Love: Mini games in the tavern to play with friends (noughts and crosses, chess, three dragon ante, drinking games, arm wrestling etc); with titles, novelty wear, tournaments with prizes.

    1. Beta should wait until closer to launch. If a game has a bad beta, it could turn people off. People expect bugs, but there are many many more people who don't fully understand what it means to be in beta.

    2. Foundry- voice options: can we choose voices for the npc's? IE: set a generic voiced greeting when people interact with a contact.

    3. "Having the option to follow a pre-determined route or customize your own character, including determining your stats, skills, feats, etc." This would be the ideal. The Secret World does this, and it's really neat. BUT that could kinda get away from how 4e works. As long as I have enough wiggle room skill wise to fit various RP stories, I'll be happy.

4.I like to ask odd questions of people- I'd want to know what flavor of ice cream they would be if they suddenly were turned into ice cream.

    5. Newer version of VBulletin. Report feature.

    6. As much as I actually liked TL2 (played in the beta), I'm busy with a few other games atm. I don't know if I'd buy a game solely for a key, but I don't blame people who have. Maybe PW will give who bought through steam a chance at beta access too.

7.I don't have particulars on when they're introduced, I'd just like to see the following:
    Warlock
    Bard
    Monk
    Warlock
    Warden
    Warlock
    Battlemind
    Warlock
    Warlock
    Warlock
    Warlock
    Did I mention Warlock?

    8. Same as with 7:
    Wilden
    Half-Orc
    Changeling

    9. Roll a character. I want to play the game a bit before I make missions- see if I can build off of what already exists

    10. That's a tricky one. I've walked away from games for various reasons. WoW- it was pandas (and they ruined my naxx ;_;). SWTOR- some of the quests just weren't engaging, too hard to get groups. Actually, that's a big thing. If the only way I can group is by being a super social butterfly, I'll get annoyed. I NEED a group finder.

I liked the character design system in DDO. Can Cryptic make the one in Neverwinter able to create more complex characters than that?

Also I considered purchasing That Torchlight game for a beta key, but I will probably just wait.

    1. Imo, yes they should roll out beta as soon as possible.

Pros of a Long Beta: Cryptic can acquire dedicated players. There will be more time for the NWO community to voice concerns with the game. Many questions that have been asked will have answers revealed. People can focus more on what is instead of what could be.

Cons of a Long Beta: By revealing some of the mystery and answering many of our questions, perhaps people will lose interest. Cryptic could be taking a risk by opening themselves up to player input and review before they are ready.

Pros of a Short Beta: It will be more anticipated due to built up excitement. Perhaps because Cryptic will have a shorter time frame to work with, they will be more serious about player concerns. The game will look more polished.

Cons of a Short Beta: Players phased in near the end might feel like they missed out on the Beta if they don't have a chance to contribute or be a major part of the Beta. Potential testers could lose patience and play one of the many new MMOs.

    2. I'm excited to be able to play complex and detailed adventures made by the community. I'm also excited that they will be easily accessible in the open world.

    3. c. I think this option is a very versatile option that allows for role players to role play and competitive gamers to play competitively. I think having control over the building and level of my character is extremely important. Option c. allows for cookie cutter builds, but it also lets people have fun and role play with their character if they choose.

Pros of a robust character creation and leveling system:
Allows for customization. This is extremely important as it allows for role playing, theory crafting, variation of builds, and makes classes more versatile.

Cons of a robust character creation and leveling system:
It makes breaking a game easier. For example, if building a character a certain way makes them immensely powerful, so much so that other classes are just impractical, then the game will be less fun and more punishing to people who decide to not play that class.

    4. Will there be breakable objects in the world? These objects include vases, jars, crates, pillars perhaps.

On the same subject, will I be able to interact with my environment? Such as climbing ropes, carrying torches, busting down doors, or hiding in shadows.

I apologize if these questions have been asked before, I couldn't find them on the forums specifically when searching.

    5. The first thing I would do is make that "Edit your Avatar" button clickable.

    6. a. Yes I did! However, I did play Torchlight I so really Torchlight II was a bonus.

    7. Wizard, Rogue, Cleric, Fighter, Ranger, Druid, Barbarian, Monk, Shaman, Assassin, Runepriest, Warlock.

    8. Elf, Dwarf, Human, Gnome, Halfling, Drow, Dragonborn, Shardmind, Kalashtar, Eladrin, Tiefling, Minotaur.

    9. Roll a character! I plan on spending perhaps 5-10% of my time in the Foundry.

    10. My number one concern is the crafting system, but I'm not so concerned I wouldn't play the game. I would like for there to be decently size endgame heroic adventures (raids if you will) added in after release that play a major part in the storyline.
