Go to Sharandar or Dragonbone Vale. See how many instances are up and how many players in each. It has been difficult to get enough people to do BHEs in Sharandar - even in alliance runs. I expect hunts will be the same rather quickly. IMO it's not even a campaign - just a store that requires doing a certain task to earn special currency.
" and is meant to be the BiS gear for the forseeable future "
Said every player after mod 3 (Black Ice), and mod 5 (Tyrranical), and mod 7 (Twisted), and mod...well, you get the idea.
"Foreseeable future" is only accurate if you can only see 6 months ahead. By this time next year, BiS gear will be whatever the next zone / map offers.
We shall see how it develops currently I can't see the relevance of this gear going down hill anytime soon especially with no RNG to factor in
Mudflation is necessary in mmorpgs to keep people interested in new content.
Most likely new mods will bring new and better gear for a few slots. But there are many slots on a character, so most likely dragon gear will stay BiS for at least some slots for another 3-4 mods.

Devs openly declared what are supposed be the peak of bonuses - and those are already in the game. And it is already almost irrelevant if you obtain 1k more IL. (well, in anything other than the latest content it is completely irrelevant) Being (almost) irrelevant and harder to obtain will not make any future gear exactly a hit.
Yes, mmo are often designed to motivate players by pushing new and better gear, but the current Neverwinter combat system (especially thanks to the existence of raw stats) is not sustainable for such strategy and (especially thanks to the enchantment rework) has already run out of optimal margins.

IMHO this is the worst """campaign""" ever, even worse than Elemental Evil. It's just ridiculous that you kill a dragon and find in it's hoard a simples fkin gem and some ad. It makes no sense. It would be nice to re-roll the chest rewards, or at least have more rewards, just like the chests on epic dungeons/trials. it would be nice if we could advance in the """campaign""" by doing daily quests, not only kill the ancient dragons to get the required currencies.

So you want generic quests filled campaign which you will complet within day or two, claim boons and thats it. ?

No, it seems like you didn't get the point at all.
The problem with dragonslayer campaign is: you hunt a dragon, and in the middle of it's hoard all you can find is just a opal or ruby? I mean, it's a HAMSTER DRAGON WITH AN ENORMOUS HOARD!!! And to make things worse, the only way to advance in the so called """campaign""" it's killing ANCIENT HAMSTER DRAGONS!!! If you can't see the gap this mod will make in the playerbase, sorry but I can't do nothing. Even with friends and guildmates, the campaign take so long to be completed that a new mod will arrive, with better gear and almost 60-80% of playerbase will have their efforts wasted because they couldn't keep it up with others.

One suggestion is this:
Once one player has completed the Campaign, they recieve a :Legendary Dragonslayer's Ring - Account which is like the Epic Dragonslayers Ring from the Stronghold, but with 1500 point on the 4 skills and +20% damage from At-Will attacks on Dragons only.
Also, for their Alts, each would receive 1 Dragon Ridge for every Young Dragon Kill, 3 Dragon Ridges for every Adult Dragon Kill and a maximum of 7 Dragon Ridges for every Ancient Dragon Kill, up to 560 Ridges in addition to other quest rewards.
Once all of the players Alts have completed the Campaign, then the Main Character insta-upgrades his legendary ring to Mythic with 3000 on the 4 skills and +25% damage from at-will attacks on Dragons only.

I really don't know why the devs used something like that for campaign progression instead of what went live..........

After very first dragon kill in this Dragon_slayer campaign, I was surprise that developers added chest at all. Compared to hunts like Chult, Avernus, Barovia. There where no chests. You got gear, or currencies from hunts and thats it.
So I don't see any problems here. The main reward is currencies which you use to get gear parts.
If developers would had to add chest, the some gear parts would had to be removed from vendor and put in chest as reward. That's mean it would be chance to get x gear part, you wnat put current dragon slayer gear parts behind RNG? That's how it where with Avernus, Chult/omu, and Barovia hunts.
Also if you want open some chest, there are plenty of content in game which offer to open chest after you complete dungeon.

So, you're a jaded player thinking you deserve more? Intro hunts explains that most of the hoard is probably cursed. Know any way in the game to get rid of cursed items?
I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.
Longevity of the Dragonslayer campaign is based in part by the availability of players to run the content with (there are still a lot of players available) as well as how many characters you want the gear for/sets of gear you want and whether or not you are interested in helping others.
There’s incentive for continued engagement in the campaign if a player has multiple characters, wants multiple sets of gear and or wants to help others.
Reaper itself is a plausible reason for continued engagement. The equip effect of boots that give power when the character has below 80% action points is negated if the Reaper challenge conditions includes “no daily powers” so a player may want another set of boots from the Dragonslayer campaign to prevent a bonus from being negated.
The first wave of players seemed to be a lot of the “elitist” type (ilvl/equipment requirements, etc.). Personally seeing a lot less group requirements for ancient dragons now.
Running a couple dragons a week for extra currency “shouldn’t" hurt.
