He could be a toxic player if you did not align with his views of "manhood", identity, etc. And a first-class troll on occasion. Let him fade away.

I honestly have no idea who this person was but that's a bit harsh to say about anybody.....

I never met them and have been playing for quite a long time, maybe different timezones idk but my heart goes out to thier family, losing someone in a motor vehicle accident is very hard.

    Dear Ladies and Gentlemen,

we cannot understand the latest reports.

We got to know WickID positively and knew Him positively throughout the years.

As mentioned, he belonged to our family.

    Respectful.

    LoGC Ronny Ebing

As to the latest reports you cannot understand, he had been on my ignore list for a while. Primarily, as @archmage#5149 pointed out, he was a bully. He admitted on these forums that he could be a bit much to handle. But he had no intention of changing. He only came off my ignore list at the behest of a mutual friend. And there were times he sorely pressed to be back on that list.
I'm not looking for forgiveness, and I'm way past asking permission. Earth just lost her best defender, so we're here to fight. And if you want to stand in our way, we'll fight you too.

The principle "we should speak about dead only good or at all",,ceases to apply when monuments are erected to such a person.
It was a highly controversial idea from the beginning, but the publicity did its job. It is sad, but it must be said clearly: this person does not deserve such recognition.
In my opinion, cryptic has completely compromised itself by glorifying someone so toxic
It looks like promoting pathogenic behavior.

    Yes, it's true.
He impressed me the most when he gave ways to kill "stupid dps" by tank, in chat.
Such teachings for the inexperienced. Great, really.

As of writing this, I am fairly new to NW, about 8 months in. I can't say I knew Wickid, or interacted with him much other than seeing his name briefly from time to time around the game. Nonetheless, this is indeed sad to hear and from what I can gather and from what I've read, or heard about this good man, the community will feel a loss in the game without him. It would be nice to see a statue in his honor somewhere in PE, perhaps under or near the tree. In any case, though I didn't know you well Wickid, still as a fellow warrior of NW I salute you kind sir.

When you have dozens of people remark on the positive impact a person had on them, and three people complain how much they hated the guy... you have to seriously wonder what's wrong with those three people. As Centurion said, "To the haters...may someone touch your heart like WiCKiD touched ours."

Don't be that much pathetic. There're no haters here. He was toxic person and that's true. So cryptic made "tribute" to an toxic player. So, i don't expect bans anymore for toxic players. And it's not only "three people". There're many more, but people don't want to get involved into this, it's waste of time. D&D game isn't place for some RL sh*t. Well, you got what you wanted so i can't see point to "name" other people. Cryptic shouldn't put any RL HAMSTER into this game, but they did... Just lock this topic and well, go on...

Be it gaming, blogging or real life, someone who is well-liked is going to also get haters. That's a fact of life. That doesn't give the haters license to troll once that person has passed on.

I'm sorry you never bothered to get to know him, truthfully. But, generally, if you disliked him so much that you have to call one of his good friends "pathetic", then this thread is perhaps not for you. It's very disrespectful to speak ill of the dead; there are plenty of people who were in my life that I just never talk about for that reason. You and the others (yes, literally just three people on this thread besides you) would do well to remember that his family can probably read what is being posted here, and walk away out of respect for their personal loss. Shame on you.

It was hard to not recognize him. Already during his lifetime I wrote about the toxicity of the "talk tank" channel he founded, where they arrogantly bragged about ways to kill dps, who did not want to acknowledge the domination of the lousy tank.
It was by all means disgusting and pathetic.

The truth, on the other hand, is that only three or four members of your mutual admiration circle occupied all zone chats non-stop, for several days, to force as many players as possible to write their FIRST and mostly only ONE post in this particular topic.
Most wrote "admittedly I didn't know him but he sure was a great guy".
I don't know who at cryptic is responsible for gathering public opinion, but they should fire him. He does not respond to the real problems of the players, but yielded to pressure from a few players to elevate their toxic colleague to the heavens. How could you not see that this popularity, was artificially outlined by just a few people?
    This is the true shame.

Clearly there are people playing this GAME who have little or no connection to the real world, never having lost someone important to them that others may have found toxic or unpleasant and feel compelled to insult those who don't agree with their opinion. If so many supposedly agree with the negative comments, perhaps they too should post their one and only opinion to achieve this alleged balance which seems to be overwhelmingly positive and not just from one and done first time posters.

Some of the comments seem to reflect a level of bitterness and resentment that cannot possibly be healthy and suggest issues far beyond simply disliking someone in a game. Personally I find it sad to see so many people on the forums who seem to delight in representing the stereotypical gamer as an antisocial, friendless individual who appears to think success in a MMO is a healthy way to bolster self esteem. I wonder what they'll do if the internet goes down or Neverwinter closes shop completely.

If the people you encounter online offend you that much, expand your ignore list. Or if the people posting comments about someone you disliked, then stop posting and re-posting, you already made your point to disagree with what so many others thought of him. You won't change their opinion and will only feed your own bitterness and resentment however misdirected.

The deed is done, for good or ill the NPC exists in WoD, let it go already. It's unhealthy for that bitterness to continue.

    ~Marion (Nero, Sir Lancelot, Panacea)
    Neverwinter Revolution (guild)
    Infernal Paragons (alliance)

Very wise word's, I mean some people show disrespect to others just cause their opinion is different. I'm all for questioning someone if their opinion is different, provided you first try to ask logical and thought provoking questions, wise people will always re-evaluate and challenge their own positions. Those who are unwise often don't or won't...

Still I thought it was kind of sad seeing a 'limited' few talking in a negative way to a departed person, even if he managed to give a limited 'few' an unfavorable opinion.

I never knew him, or spoke to him, so can't fairly validate or disprove either position, yet knew a few who did know him, and they at least spoke positively about him.

People can only speak of their own experiences. If a person leaves a bad impression, is that my fault for observing it, or theirs for making it?

When a person passes IRL - WTF cares if he was always good or not? He wasn't a demonstrably evil POS (serial killer, etc) so why nitpick his failings???

To anyone listing this deceased person's shortcomings in life - they don't care, it is literally shouting at the wind. You're not right fighting or truth telling - you're just being a petty HAMSTER.
