There was a closed thread about a Barovia hunt exploit. No idea what it was and usually if you have more than one maintenance in a week there has been an exploit or major issue that has happened.
As a EU player, usually maintenance is badly timed, but at times like today it means I won't be able to play at all if servers aren't going to be up until 22:00. Kinda feel like they should refund a day of VIP at times like this, its what any good company would do.
Just consider this one more weekly quest titled, "Are the servers back up yet?" Your mission is to check back repeately every few minutes and hammer the offline login server with login requests. It's one of those quests that don't always work as expected. Sometimes, it takes the time listed in the quest text, sometimes less, sometimes more. There are no experience or item rewards for this quest, and it is optional.
Usually, I prefer the alternative weekly quest called "Mow the lawn" when it isn't raining. Rewards vary week to week. This week's reward is beer and pizza.

Why not just use it as a promotional opportunity and give everyone a free day of VIP benefits? That helps pacify everyone and encourages more players to buy VIP.

I feel that shouldn't even be an option, but an obvious consumer rights move instead. There are so many September EU prime time maintenances this month, that failing to recompensate equals a scam.
I hope those Barovia Hunt exploiters gonna be banned then. Cheating is a way to quickly fly above but you also fall of to ground twice as quickly if someone poke your wings.

Thats funny b/c I literally just googled 1pm pacific to EST and saw I still had an hour and a half to go and my 1st thought was "well I should mow the lawn before my wife nags me about it while im trying to play".
Almost makes me wish this game had regional EU server instead of "international" which is basically just NA but with no IP block for other regions. Not only is maintenance times annoying for EU but the lag is often very bad during gameplay too with delays on inputs, rubberbanding and getting hit by AoEs you where nowhere close to on your screen, luckily the game is super casual so it doesn't matter too much but its still very annoying and unfun.

While this might work for some, there are many who have friends and guildmates who would be split off into other regional servers. Instances should, however, should be regionally distributed whenever possible to prevent the latency issues you mentioned above.

I hire people to mow my lawn, because lizards just lay around anyway...

That was about the Consoles, which don't have the exploit patched yet.
The unusual number and length of maintenances has nothing to do with Neverwinter. It's all ARC downtime, and the underlying servers, not Neverwinter itself. All the other games are down, too.
Think of Neverwinter as being your web browser - if all you use your computer for is browsing the web, computer problems can *feel* like browser problems. But the maintenance today is like applying system updates or replacing a power supply - you need to finish the repairs on your computer and get it booted up again before you can start your browser, even if your browser isn't making any changes.

EU players basically CANNOT play this day cause not everyone has that much free life. A wasted day for many.
