We re-did the event 6 hours after the first attempt, with 26 people. Only did 10 rounds as we just wanted to get a brief feel for the event. This time the lag was much less. I have no idea what the issue was the first time - maybe just extreme server load at that time ?

Anyhow - the reward for 20-something minutes of work was 27 Gem vouchers, for 5 gems each - or 135 Gems per person. Sorry, not worth the effort.

HAHA. What are the devs doing? I mean for real? First FBI, then SP and now this new event with crappy loot.

I'm not defending the devs on this but I have to ask you to remember how laggy Tiamat was when it first came out. Burning Guidance, Prism, etc all caused massive lag. Now, Tiamat only lags occasionally for most. Give them until the next patch cycle to two; I'm hoping it will get better very soon. This is a fun event that can help us all if we run it regularly but no one wants to run it if it's LAF.

As for the rewards, I agree that they need to crank up the reward bot. White vouchers after running 20 rounds with a full queue group is a bit disappointing.
    I aim to misbehave

Yea...the lag is not nearly as bad as it was the first time. The rewards...well, unless they change I am going to consider this a "weekly task that gives 600 Influence in 15 minutes by doing 5 waves", which is fair....just not what I was hoping to get.

This is in no way comparable to DF.

Just like mSP - the reward/effort ratio is just too low for this to be fun.

Pretty sure the Devs play on top notch machines that can handle the load....

I think the devs play on an in house server that they are connecting to over a network and not the internet . I have a very good pc with 32GB ram and it is like i am watching a stop motion video. It has nothing to do with my pc and it is not my internet as 30+ other players(from all over the world) experience the same as i do.

It has to be something wrong on there side

    Has to be.....

When software testing is done in-house, it is usually put through multiple routers (sometimes using a remote office as one of the nodes), and with some of the points simulating congestion. Can't tell if that is how QA does it here, but it's pretty standard.

Then, load testing is done with simulated connections hitting the server all at once. *That* test is often done in the local network, because in the load case, they *want* to hit the server as much as possible.

Sorry Cryptic but I have to agree with the title of this thread.
This event is extremely laggy, *BORING*, and the rewards are frankly horrible.
To get through say wave 30 (after which it becomes impossible- which is fine) it would probably take 1.5 hours and the rewards are 600 influence once a day and a bunch of white vouchers? Said vouchers worth literally almost nothing in guild marks?

Abject failure guys, please do something about this ASAP.

Given the rewards I got out of a 40 or so minute run of this ...

There is really no point in doing this event more than once a week for the 600 influence and no point in going past the first 5 waves. The rewards simply are not there. For 15 waves I got 9 gem vouchers worth 5 gems each? 45 gems total?

Once a week for the influence, its not worth doing it any more than that sadly until the rewards are improved.

Blue or purple vouchers would probably make this somewhat more reasonable.

Vouchers are way to harsh.. lately I feel they are out of touch as ever.

    White vouchers.. just whatever.

Why do they even bother coding events, that players will just mostly ignore.

Players are not going to waste time on this..

Yup, run 5 waves with 2 alts, if anybody runs it again will use a different alt. No interest in wasting my time doing more, I need guild marks and this doesn't provide them once you get past the initial 600, I'm also not earning any useful amount of stuff for the guild.

It does sound pretty lame. I can jump in for minimal participation to get the weekly influence, but for other needed items like campaign currencies, why would anyone not go do some quests instead?

Is there any indication that they nerfed the rewards? On preview wave 25 landed way over 100 vouchers, I have yet to see similar numbers, but people seem to mostly do fewer waves.

Also they did the event with ten players on the PTS. Maybe there is a reward pool for all participants that gets equally distributed? That would at least explain why on live those runs with 20-40 people net so little.

Lag aside I think it could be fun, but I have to agree that the rewards completely and utterly miss the mark. This should have been something that encouraged guilds to group up and contribute along the same lines as dragonflight but focussing on stronghold progression. There is absolutely no reason for the vouchers to be such a pathetic return on time. If they do not fix this it will be another waste of dev time and a missed opportunity like stronghold pvp. I'm really disappointed that they are this out of touch with the game and it's players.

Can I say I told you so?

Yeah, you may ... this one time ;)

Seriously though, I had hoped for a similar reward/effort ratio as for DF. Let's say you have 25 people participating - you kill all 4 dragons, everyone is in a good mood, so someone donates a bell and we kill all 4 dragons again. This would take around 30 minutes and everyone would get some green/blue vouchers, and a decent chance of a purple strongbox (hopefully a strongbox of gems or influence, but let's be realistic). In the same time I could do maybe 15 waves of marauders, and if I quit then and look at my rewards, will I get something comparable ?

    No.

As a developer i have access to special server and they are not hosted offsite cause the hardware need to be adjusted along the way during the testing phase and having it offsite wil cause a massive time waste causing resources doing nothing

Not sure what you do as a developer, but Production games like NW do not 'adjust' hardware along the way... even swapping RAM blocks gets tested on a clone machine before being pushed out to Live.

Also, most software Development people have access to test servers for their own use... but when testing for the Live environment, it is very OFTEN offsite, for emergency and disaster recovery situations. In most cases, Test and Live servers live in the same rack at the hosting company.

Although, what I was referring to above is when a software company maintains a relationship with their hosting company, and requests that they route the traffic through the hosting companies satellite office, to simulate additional hops along the way to the server.

Not only are they white vouchers, they are nerfed white vouchers. I.E. white Dark Gifts from Marauders 5 pts, white Dark Gifts from Beast Attack Small Heroic is 25 pts...

    Explain the reasoning behind that!!

I think something more reasonable would be tiered voucher rewards:
    • 5 & 10 White Vouchers
    • 15 & 20 Green Vouchers
    • 25 & 30 Blue Vouchers
    • 35+ Purple

My alliance is currently announcing "bring an alt to the Marauders skirmish" runs. We show up for 5 waves, grab the influence and go. The reward for more waves just isn't worth the extra effort. Is that really what was intended?
This event had the potential to encourage allies to work together, teach them good tactics and get a sense of achievement. But aside from the influence we'd be better off killing dragons. It's a shame.

Cryptic, I think you must have understand by now that you should increase the rewards. If these 2 pages of posts don't convince you, I really don't know what will.

Unfortunately, many players see this as a continuation of a disturbing trend - consider mSP. It is a fairly long, fairly hard dungeon, with rewards that are...well, let's say that the rewards discourage people from running it that often, There was actually a slight imrovement with 11B because of the possibility to drop Fartouched Residuum, which sells for a nice amount on the AH, but still...

The problem is that if there is no incentive to actually run new content they create, players will get bored - too much boredom and players will leave.
