Fishing still doesn't work for me

I've been trying to get it to work on Preview for weeks, and it's the same situation on Live. When I try to bait the hook all I get is the HR stance-change overlay animation. I posted screenshots last week showing it on the preview thread, and it's no different. I'm obviously playing an HR, and I also have Tab mapped to Numpad 5 (I use a USB numpad for most game commands). Interestingly, the UI doesn't let me remap it back to Tab to test that.

It seems to be affecting a large number of players who have remapped their keybinds, even if they restore them to defaults.

Not that helpful, but... you're not alone?

I did a ton of testing tonight and this is what I found:

- Having Tab mapped to Numpad 5 isn't what is causing the problem. I switched to my CW and I was able to fish just fine using Numpad 5 instead of Tab.

- It is **really** difficult to remap anything back to Tab. /bind Tab "+specialClassPower" does NOT work, even if you restart the client afterward. Even using the raw code in the command with /bind 0xf "+specialClassPower" doesn't work. I literally went through every key code from 0x00 to 0x10A and nothing resulted in mapping it back to Tab. I even did the special modifiers 0x801 through 0x803. I did manage to build a nice table of which key-code maps to which key, though.

- The only way to remap it back to Tab involves a few steps:
- (1) export your key bindings to keybinds.txt (/bind_save_file keybinds.txt)
- (2) edit keybinds.txt so that the command is properly mapped back (0xf "+specialClassPower" "")
- (3) reload keybinds.txt (/bind_local_load)

That allowed me to map it back to the Tab key. The result: fishing STILL doesn't work for my HR. It only thinks I want to change stances. So, I can't do any of the fishing quests until this gets fixed.

Well, I'm either consistently not doing something right or my account is bugged with fishing. I bait, hook and use the arrows to guide in the fish with no problem, and I hold the arrow so the bar gets filled and the circle above is lit and press 1 with my right hand while holding the last arrow with my left. I tried holding 1, pressing and releasing, and spamming 1. All I get with both of my main characters (the only ones I'm doing it with) is a continuation of the arrows to guide the fish in and then the "fish got away" message. If anyone can point out if/and what I'm doing wrong I would greatly appreciate it. If not, I guess it's a bug?

Well, I don't have tab mapped to anything...I just use the tab key. I sure hope they're working on this because I haven't been able to do any of the fishing tasks at all. If it affects others as well, then hopefully it will be addressed very soon in a patch. Glad to know at least that it might not be a silly mistake on my part.

I wonder if it is a keyboard related issue. Try opening a notepad. Hold the 'q' (or 'e' or 'r') and press '1' to see what you get. I expect you to see 'qqqqqqqqqqqqq11111111111111'.
