As someone said, with the exp booster I could certainly get a toon 1-70 in two days max, probably with only rank 7's. And depending on the class maybe half a day shorter. But I was raised on diablo's. Cow level herd em up and blow em up tactics
Levelling from 60-70. It would feel less grindy if the content was better.
Agreed.
How do you make the content better (other than the Foundry) you ask?
Stop making stupid collection quests or kill a number of monsters for no real reason quests.
Here is a good example;
In the quest "Red Rituals" the doomguide says, "The Red Wizards are using some of the newly exhumed skeletons to excavate bones and relics from Pauper's Field. The undead are then transporting these items through a southern gate to a very old portion of Neverdeath. We need to find out where these "bone porters" are going and why!" You are then told to kill 12 skeletons which makes this plot senseless. How am I suppose to know where they are going and why, if I am killing them?! Then you look at a map and return. This mission is so very typical of this game. Go kill #n of enemy_x so we can mcguffin_device.
I play another MMO where the quest it this;
A duke (who is one of the main driven plot characters) asks, "I have been thinking about this story you told me of my daughter's ghost. I fear she cannot rest until her ashes are recovered and properly interred. Please go to the Flame Temple Corridor and gather Althea's ashes. Bring them back to me so I can lay her to rest. You'll have my gratitude."
The following journey is a long trek through enemy territory, the bad guys attack you regardless of your level, so you end up killing a lot of foes without the need to be told. There is a point to this, you are doing an old friend a huge favor by returning his daughter's remains.
I am not saying any single MMO is perfect, but the only quest I recall finding enjoyable because of its creativity was "A Lich's Lament".
Took me 3 days from lvl 1 to 70. This game isn't a grind in terms of leveling.
I only play on the weekends, but I agree that leveling at least to level 60 is not an issue. Players just seem be getting more and more cynical about the game as we approach the 3rd anniversary. This cynicism seems to stem from the complete lack of interest to fix old bugs, replace missing elements, and correct minor issues. Meanwhile I heard Idris had become quite the racquetball player over the past year.
I'm not sure why it took you 6 months to get to a level that's just enough get in to Tiamat, It's possible that you just don't have the time to grind. Or you probably made some bad decisions in the game investments-wise. Either way, at 6 months most of the free players I know are already at 3k and are well qualified to join a Tiamat channel.
Between work & school, I only have 90 mins per day to play, & I have 3 alts which actually play. Since the new business model seems to be to release 1 or 2 new mods every year, I would be hard pressed to keep even 1 toon up to date & current. From my perspective, if I cannot even complete the necessary tasks from one campaign before the next one starts, that seems the definition of P2W.
I grinded my GF in about 5 weeks to lev 70, only few boons missing.That´s no grind at all. The grind is when you want to get BIS, legendary equip, transcendent enchant, or want to be competeteive in PVP. I heared about other mmo´s like Final Fantasy where it takes years to level up and get professions maxed? Not sure if that´s correct. In terms of getting BIS, years are also needed in NWO to get all that RP/AD.
The REAL grind is when you earn the BiS gear after months of effort, and then PWE ups and NERFS it so you have to start over. See Black Ice Gear in IWD (BiS before EE campaign) as prime example #1. And I suspect prime example #2 is just around the corner with current IL 145 gear and Mod 10.
I hope we are going to get access to some sweet orange armor set that is grindable and sellable. That would be just perfect. BiS gear should evolve over time. Just not too fast, like when they added all those artifacts and who remembers what in such a short time.
With dreams to be a king, first one should be a man.
