    1 - You don't want to know how bad the class really is compared to others... but you can always ask devs to bring "Intimidation" build and mod3 Destroyer build back. n_n

    2 - It's already demostrated that GFs, with far less power than GWFs, hit harder than GWFs'.

    3 - Most whales are CWs and GFs players, sorry.

    4 - Then is either you having a bad build char (most probably) or not running with players like thefabricant [CW] or zekethesinner [GF] .

    5 - I only saw Lazalia's. But the first vid i watched soloing Orcus was from a CW [thefabricant]... So, something is wrong in your statement.

    6 - Compared to TRs which can one-shot easy SW and GWF classes due the lack of dodges. GF which can one rotate other classes. SWs which can do insane dot damage while dodging you, HRs which can control you until you pop unstop, then, pop Forest and avoid that GWF until his unstop ends and, then, start over again the rotation. OPs and DCs which GWFs cant kill due some overperforming feats... then, yes, the class is on a bad spot. And this, its counting vs normal players, not vs players using drains or other SH stuff.

    7 - Last time i saw a GWF killing someone, was Saberkick stomping pugs on Domination. Last time i fought a GWF on PvP, the other player only could have me killed because he out gears my GF and out boons (SH) .... yet i dropped his HP bar to almost the half.

    8 - Like TR, OP, DC, GF, HR and CW classes right now? Neither you or i would like it at all, sorry.
    1. I'm not sure I understand, you claim that GWF are in a bad spot now in terms of PvE ?

    2. Since when power is a build measurement ? Or we have not leaned from a famous build poster that compared all his builds by power ? Especially for a class that with an encounter translates defense into multiplicative damage buff.

    3. Sorry, but on what the hell this is based on ? And what exactly the ration of GF / CW in that claim ? 99.9% CW and 0.1% GF ? Lets not invent statistics no one can confirm, deny or check (except cryptic ofc) just to suit an agenda.
    Also what is the definition of a whale ? I'm starting to feel heavy and I want to know if I'm there yet.

    4. Seriously ? Perhaps you need to respec "Antaron" because if you can't beat zekethesinner GF (buff GF) on a GWF then something is wrong there. And please do tell me, when fabricant beat snoo in dps ?
    Maybe it is you who run with the wrong GWFs ? For example PvP specced people....

    SW class dodge mechanic changes as we go? Since when GWF can't catch a SW and prone it?
    You meant immunity frames, but still.......lets also not play games like GWF is so bad it's left in the corner crying. Every class should have it's strengths and weaknesses, no one should have every single strength every other class has.

    3) There are very few decent dps Conq GFs, which makes it hard to illustrate point 2. The fact that there are few of them, doesn't justify their existence though, as that is like saying, "there are only a few rapists in the world, so they are not an issue and should not be addressed."They are so rare in fact, that in an entire instance of 25 gfs, there was only one:

    It was never a popular class even when the game launched. Once the Nerf-Crusaders have their way I suspect GF will be as scarce or even moreso than the nearly-dead SW class.

    It was very popular in open beta and even into launch but fell aside as 1) they lost the ability to hold agro do to power creep 2) DPS classes gained the ability to control and tank on their own do to power creep.


    1) DCs dps build is nowhere near as effective s GFs dps build, it functions as it should, so to speak and I think @putzboy78 can testify to this.

    DC Righteous Tree is not a DPS tree its a debuff tree while some pure DPS DCs exist its far from the rule. Almost everything a Righteous DC does is a debuff which improves party play. The reason the shadow demon is so effective with the DC is because the DC has debuffed the target. This is also why a Righteous DC is not winning paingiver (unless they run with a low dps team). The GF "Conqueror" tree is designed as a DPS with intentionally lowering their benefit to team play in order to capitalize on individual damage. There is a HUGE difference in the role of a Righteous DC and a Conqueror GF. Also note that a Righteous DC in PVP is severely handicapped making that path choice a further handicap (lacking adequate cc avoidance or burst damage).

    So maybe instead of nerfing ITF directly, make it a similar mechanic as DC righteousness where it is 70% more effective on the party than it is on the individual. So team functionality stays the same but individual benefit declines. That would make it less potent in PVP and not harm PVE significantly. Would that be fair?

    This is the crux of the problem. When have Cryptic ever been able to do this without causing an uproar and yet more people permanently leaving the game? SW class is nearly dead due to Cryptic changes. DC has been nerfed so many times I'm beginning to lose track. CW forum has plenty of posts of post-nerf disgruntled CWs.

    I think the problems are some that I outlined earlier. 3 Game Design Goals - Challenging Gameplay, Class Parity and Roleplay Diversity. Pick any 2. To expand Challenge and Roleplay Diversity the solutions Cryptic uses lead to distortions of Class Parity. If Cryptic works on Roleplaying Diversity and Class Parity then Challenging Gameplay gets lessened.

    That's why no one sees me running my GWF Sentinel anymore. I wish the game needed tanking more than it does. If dps is high enough tanking is relegated to the 'nice but not necessary' category. Ditto for HR or CW CC. But if I PUG and everyone discovers I'm Sentinel rather than Destroyer I get kicked. It doesn't take long because Sentinel doesn't deal out the dps everyone expects.

    I take Cryptic up on their "create and play your toon your way" NW design philosophy and build a pure DC Striker - because the Righteous tree allows for it. You can be solely striker or solely leader(aka buffer) or a hybrid of the two - my DC is striker only.

    Then the forum gets threads like this>

    This is the kind of forum poster who would also get upset at Sentinel GWFs filling up a PUG dps spot. So who's at fault here if any? The player for wanting to play Sentinel or Cryptic for not creating content where people are ok with an alt-tank taking a "dps slot" and turning a Striker class into a Defender instead?

    I have the perfect solution that will make everyone happy. Every class can choose Devotion or Protection. DPS classes will be able to tank or heal. Paladin must get a massive DPS increase. DCs and GFs say that class roles are dead. So, Why not let us all choose how we want to play? I want to heal all those glass cannon GFs with my Spinning Strike.

    I think Paladins should get a massive DPS increase!
    Roles are for dungeons and dungeons are gone. Replaced with DPS burn content. Especially heroics. There is alot more solo play stuff now. That trinity of tank/heal/etc stuff seems in sleep mode in this game to me.
    It might be relevant again if NWO make more team-work friendly content. And I don't mean yellow circles.
    Right now it's everyone out for themselves. They can do DPS nerf them! diiieeeeee
    If you want to waste a half hour for 4k ad and some salvage meat for a dungeon you've run through a thousand times. Cool.
    I'm a glass cannon GF. You're heals would be most welcome :)

    I think a few of them have figured out how to 'play their class' by now. It's 7 skills and two passive, it's not like NWO has the Path of Exile skill-tree.

    Oh, I know it's true. I don't think you're lying. What bothers me is it's out now and other players have mutated exploitable buff layers and now it's FoTM and on the hate-list. I figured this day was coming. My concern is the fallout. I'm arguing that it's rare, not impossible and the impact on PvE where there is no advantage to who wins paingiver, is minimal and being over-played for selfish reasons.
    I'm all for fixing, not breaking. It's a fine line and one often unseen when NWO comes around with the nerf hammer.

    I don't expect you to be a GF expert, my primary concern is no one left a NWO is either. And they have a bad habit of 'saving the village by destroying the village,' if you catch my meaning. They never seem to handle delicate situations delicately.

    Agreed on point 1, this class does not have PoEs skill tree, or any of its mechanics for that matter, its my secondary game besides NWO and yet there are still so many people who are bad at playing NWO, because it lacks any content to actually challenge players and force them to learn their class. If every enchantment above rank 8 were to magically disappear today without the ability to craft higher, along with all the old sets and all the boons, people would complain the game is too hard and they cannot complete dungeons. Not because it is too hard, but because they would refuse to adapt to the circumstances and learn, because they so used to their gear carrying them, that they have never actually had to put effort into learning their class. Its the equivalent of mirrored gear, 21/20 gems and headhunters being readily available to everyone in PoE.

    On point 2, as you said, you all for fixing and not breaking,well, that is how I feel as well. Instead of arguing with me, why not propose fixes, that you feel are fair, to resolve the issue. This is what I did with paladin, back when I played paladin in mod 7 (before I got bored of it). You certainly know gf better than I do, so you would also have a better idea of what would fix the class, without destroying its viability.

    At the end of the day, we need PvE and PvP separated from each other and IT IS POSSIBLE! just watch CWs Thaumaturge Capstone as example! "Half effective on players" - can be done on lots of other stuff like "half as effective when flagged for PvP" .

    I've been asking for PvE/PvP separation since I started playing. If they did it for prones, why not buffs?

    I realize you are being facetious but that just highlights what an impossible barrier Cryptic has. Pro-nerf crowd will go for whatever FotM class they have their sight on. Look for calls all over the forums for nerfing CWs again after Cryptic introduce their new rebalancing work for that class. PvPers will likely rally the anti-CW charge.

    GWF used to be a decent tank. If Cryptic ever introduces content where tanking is the superior strategy to teams stacking dps I'm dusting off my Sentinel and playing her regularly again. Agree that Paladins need a dps increase. There was a thread recently by a post-nerf Pali of how wearyingly slow it was to finish even the simplest mobs in solo play compared to every other class he played.

    IMO the class most in need of help is SW. After that I'd say HR. I play this game daily and can count on one hand the number of SW I see showing up in PUGs, Heroic Dragon Herald runs, eDemo or Tiamat.

    To clarify...not saying that I don't see SWs playing. Just that they are the least-played class I see in the game. Certainly the least played class in my guild.

    Since this thread is DPS oriented...
    I did suggest a while back that into the frey's dmg should be capped and replaced with more hitpoints to the party.
    The temp hit points given are ridiculously tiny (like 800 or something dumb).
    Shield warrior's wraith gives dmg increase stacks too high. It makes the wait and pounce too effective (rotation).
    I'd be fine with knight's challenge being decreased to 50/50 but keep damage to the party the same. The cooldown is too high so I bet only conqs use it now. It was useful till it bugged for 2 mods.

    GWF used to be a decent tank.

    And they nerfed temp HP out of the blue. Why? Meanwhile unstoppable is still busted. Nerf the skill but leave the bug, awesome.

    I don't recall seeing nerf-cry threads for this. I can only assume it was those, hey I soloed Orcus videos and NWO put the hammer down.

    @deathbleez freya uses KC, so it definitely has its uses for dps. With that being said, I haven't ever seen the other 2 paths for gf using it.

    It makes sense. It fell out of favor because it would bug on 2nd/3rd activation. Maybe starting in mod 2.ish.. can't even remember now.
    Because it has a long cool down, and is single target only, vanilla boss fights had adds, and GF dps wasn't noticed, it really lost it's use in tanking.
    Funny that old bugged skill got pulled out of antiquity to be used a DPS blaster. Smart really.

    I suspect Cryptic sees it this way: by leaving temp hp ridiculously low it increases playing challenge. I'm willing to bet not reducing gameplay challenge is behind a lot of otherwise seemingly ridiculous decisions for many classes powers.

    Trying to look at this from all sides it has occured to me that the main issue really is. Both the GF and the DC in fact have a DPS build. And while this is very nice it does call for some very real problems when it comes to the game its self. Both Tanks and Heraler have a spot set aside for them in team play which is nice but the game doesnt tell the difference between the differnet builds.Example for a tank class Conqueror should be placed in the same pool as all the rest of the DPS builds while the Protector and Tactician should be the only ones of the GF class looked at as tank .Same thing for the cleric side. Why because the DPS builds for both dont fit into the role people expect them to play in PVE . Trying to nerf away the DPS tank for PVP will only serve to kill and real tanks for the PVE side of the game and in the end the que times will take forever because we no longer have anyone to fill those spots . All I can really tell you for sure is this as a Iron Vanguard, Protector that takes two times longer to get my dailys done than any other class toon that I play. I am only about one more nerf away from finding something better to do with my time. Good luck to you on this kill the tank witch hunt many seem to be on. I well just join you on my DPS in Que and hope we can find us a tank.

    Yet ITF needs to get a cap to 80% for pve imo (else said not profiting from other ressistance buffs) :) there is no other encounter j the game buffing the right party's output by 130% for mere 3 powerpoints.

    I'm sick of being expected to slot it like a DC is expected to slot gift of haste and spam astral shield.
    Support classes? More like service classes. It gets so so old.
    Better not ever break out of your role and do some DPS for yourself, or you might face the nerf-brigade.

    i am just comparing gf's to prot.paladins from a pure egoistic point of view as a tank paladin.

    What i can bring to the party offensive-wise

    Aura of courage - 10-30% dps to low geared players lower else (uses 1 aura slot).

    Aura of wisdom - increased recovery (let's say 5% dmg ) (uses my other aura slot)

    Bane 30% increase on a single target - needs refreshing (one encounter slot)

    25% of my power (endgame tank gear - under 10k power to allies in range) - needs 15 feat points in healing.

    So i can try to get to the ITF 80% on a single target by unsloting 2 auras and a encounter.

    p.s. yes paladin making comments on gf's sounds not good intended but i always also agreed that the paladin's bubble was smply broken and overpowered...



    Generally my opinion on hybrid classes:
    I think a dps geared and speced gf should do the damage of any other pure dps class - but therby forfeiting all his tanking abilities.
    For example - increase damage in combat by 5% ,every 5sec no block was used - stacks up to 50% in the dps feat tree...
