Are you one of those players who got really excited over the blog about the return of the old dungeons? Well get ready for disappointment. The devs just confirmed that the only epic dungeon that is returning is the new (and very much worse version in my opinion) CN.
"This is correct, Caverns of Karrundax, Frozen Heart, Cloak Tower and the Lair of the Pirate King (Returning as "Vault of the Pirate King") will only be available as 3 man dungeons for now. That being said, those dungeons, along with all other dungeons will be getting an significant EXP bonus that is granted upon completion. Making them excellent ways to level new characters or earn power points. In addition we're overhauling how seals work before endgame, unifying and simplifying them and adding more useful repeatable purchases to make with those seals.
Castle Never and the Maze Engine campaign are the pieces of content that we are targeting at endgame players this module, with the former being a new tier 2 dungeon, on the same difficulty level of the Epic Dungeon version of Cragmire and Temple of the Spider, albeit with new challenges and mechanics to overcome, and some new rewards to obtain.
Creating an Epic Dungeon version of an existing dungeon is certainly a somewhat easier task from an environment art perspective than making an entirely new dungeon, but there is still a lot of design work, as well as effects, animation, character art and testing that go into remaking a dungeon into a new endgame experience. Naturally on any given project, there are only so many resources, so if we spend time going back to re-master an old dungeon, that's time that can't be spent making new things.
While there's certainly a possibility that some of these dungeons might receive an epic dungeon treatment at some point, keep in mind that we'll be continuing to build new things as well."
There you go. All the old dungeons we have been waiting for is returning ONLY as leveling dungeons. You can read the devs comments in this thread:
http://www.arcgames.com/en/forums/neverwinter/#/discussion/1211749/return-of-the-old-dungeons-leveling-but-not-epicNow to the poll. I cant believe that this was what we were requesting. Im pretty sure we all asked for epic dungeons for endgame content. So Im making a poll so that we can see if thats infact is the case.
We didnt get epic dungeons, but look at it from the bright side, the failor of this is atleast EPIC.

So, even though I am a dirty alt-er in NW and not planning to tackle the endgame anytime soon, I'll vote for giving the geared peeps more epic dung-eons. Its a hole that needs more filling now.
I hope balancing and bug-fixing are on the horizon, regardless.

No new epic dungeons? That's rubbish!

I want exploration and adventure and excitement.
As it stands right now, a bulk of my play time is just standing around my SH, chatting with guildies.

If they want any chance of mitigating this disaster, they need to remove the 5 person queue requirement from the Epic dungeons. At least running them with less people will present us with a challenge. We can do it now, but its a pain to get people to queue and drop.
I just dont know what they have been thinking.

Where are those voices now?
So for me personally, I'm going to enjoy my tiny sliver of smug satisfaction for as long as I'm allowed too. I'll think of it as my own form of player created content for mod 9. UGC as its finest.
Ive been a long time player of this game, but have not played in a year. Last November, my wife and I came back to it and really began to enjoy it. We made new characters and started fresh. Climbed through the levels, faced the new content, got to 70, adventured in campaigns, ran dungeons, watched our iLevels grow, and smiled over new gear and new stuff to do. The only thing missing was the old dungeons that were removed.
My point is, that when I started fresh on a new character, it took me about 4 days of casual play to hit 61. And your'e telling me that the idea behind the 4 new dungeons was to expand on the 1-60 grind? It goes by so fast (which is good) that its barely worth adding anything else. New dungeons while I'm leveling is neat, but only if there's stuff that keeps me playing at the end.
As it stands now, it seems to me that once youv'e hit ilevel 2500 to unlock eDemo, then theres nothing left past that. You earn all your new gear, you buy better and better enchantments, and you finally earn that twisted Artifact Weapon and refine it to legendary. And after that, they thought it was a good idea to go ahead and add a single new epic dungeon (ilevel 2000 req) and leave us with nothing else to do?
This is an extremely dissappointing decision on thier behalf. And it IS a BIG mistake. New leveling dungeons, and a solo friendly campaign starting at 60 are great additions. But the bigger problem is that you have an end game gear treadmill that allows you to grow much stronger than you have content to support. I know some people will spend hours and hours getting r12 enchants, and building up the SH for the best armor and weapons. And Id be one too, but honestly, whats the point? So I can run Castle Never epic dungeon and solo it? Boring.....
Either throw us end game players a bone and let us know that something is coming to give us a reason to use the gear we got, or more will continue to leave. Including me. Mod 9 is officially not exciting at all now. Time to find a new multiplayer game. Which makes me a really sad panda. I was really enjoying this game. What a buzz kill to find out its not going anywhere.

They simply do not have the manpower to do anything else.. its clear at this point. they simply do not have the manpower to make anything.
