Where have the mount training books gone. They are no longer with the mount dealer in PE.

They took them out. I'm assuming some sort of price change, maybe even rank or stat training, but no official word yet.

The Mount Training Tombs have been removed from the game.

Let me try to at least closley paraphrase what @terramak said in the recent live stream: The mount training tombs have been removed. We can't say why yet but we believe it is better for players if we remove them now rather than later.

You can take that as you will. :)

I guess they waited until after everybody upgraded their sleds first, for some reason. :-)

And if they did it before the simril event I am sure you could find something else to say it about.

There will always be those who do something before decisions are made. That's an unavoidable fact of existence.

Hence why I told people there was no point in being warned that major changes were going to come. No notice is equivalent to a years notice because there will always be somebody who did something just before notice was given. You did a wonderful job in proving those statements from months back in an offhand way.

Notice is nice because it gives you something to look forward to (or dread) but it does not change the impact such decisions will have on the value of items so long as those items are not being forcibly removed from your person. One such situation was when the devs truncated seals to a max of 500. However any time the value of something is going to increase or decrease without a direct removal of wealth there will always be somebody who did it the day before notice was given.

I'm just going to drop this here from last AMA

We're reviewing the whole mount system. I don't have an ETA yet for more details than that.

I'm sure you're correct. I'm sorry if it sounded strident, it wasn't meant to be. I am busy pulling my foot out of my mouth.

Why not make it with experience also, like the companions, so they could level up too.
    imho

Hopefully the removal of mount training tombs indicates that mounts no longer die during training. Well done everyone!

It would be funny if they would receive stats like the axe beak and the snail.

I'd love to get rid of the axebeak and have the bonus on a Stag, instead. I have 3 mounts I ride, but am on the axebeak most of the time. Throw in some legendary speed and I'm ready to roll!

Yea, I don't like the Snail either, I'd love to have the bonus on another mount. But I'd be happier with with 4000 power or 4000 crit on as well. They should totally rework already existing mounts to give bonuses, that would be cool. I'm a poor dude tho, how about mounts with lesser bonuses for cheap? Like 2000 power or 2000 crit or even 2000 armor pen. They could sell them in the Zen market, that way the RNG from the lockboxes could be reduced a bit and we could directly aim to get mounts with the stats we desire.

I'm interested in the direction mounts are going to go.
Hopefully it's not just a sales change and the books will go to the bar store and something crazy like being able to trick out your pet with colors, maybe even jewelry or something.
Mounts, pets, gear are so vanilla. I think more customization could be a sales opportunity and fun for players.

I have found it impossible to get a Armored Ax beak But I would much rather upgrade my Drake.

I hope this means something good

I'd still like to see mounts implemented as a cosmetic thing. You have a stable of unlocked visuals so you don't need a stable of mounts and you can transmute their appearance (sure put a moderate charge to this for customization). Adding dye options would be really awesome, even if it was limited to the tack (ex saddles, reins, etc).

Then use a system like the Cube of Augmentation system already present on artifact gear. Where you can unlock certain skills already present for mounts and more (ex. ap gain, increased speed, armor pen, etc)

This would lead to a problem of what will be left to put in the lockboxes. Transmutes, lvl unlock coins, and chance for max power unlock, i.e. don't want to buy 20+ cubes of augmentation to max out your skill use these nifty unlocks to get what you want at max auto-magically

O yeah lets unlock some level of use for dungeons. Who's tired of the long walk of shame just because you fail to make the fire jumps in elol?

PWE is supposed to have an awesome art team, lets put those people to work

What I'd like to see is mount training available for the same number of Invocation Coins as a faster mount. The Medium horse (80% speed increase) goes for 270 Ardent Coins. Let people upgrade their level 1 mounts for the same price.
  • putzboy78putzboy78 Member, NW M9 Playtest Posts: 1,950 Arc User
but no one cares about < than epic mounts and the coins can only be redeemed for a rare mount. I do agree that the coin system needs a rework, the angel is now worthless

What I am hoping to get is something like this:

    1) We get a "stable", where we can keep unused mounts instead of having to keep them in inventory or the bank.

    2) You can level up any mount white->green->blue->purple->orange, which will affect speed and dismount chances, just as it currently does.

    3) If a mount is at "legendary" level, we can improve it even further to get an equip bonus (like the legendary axe beak and flail snail currently have). The obvious way would be to sell something expensive (10.000 Zen or something like that) to add an equip bonus to any mount, but actually I would like to suggest something different - killing two birds with one stone, by allowing masterwork crafting to make something like mount saddles with equip bonuses.

This would give Masterwork crafting a real purpose to exist (because at the moment it is quite frankly an embarrassing flop).

Most importantly, this would give people the option of having any special ability on any mount. You can pick your mount based on what looks best to you, or from a role-playing perspective.

For example, my DC rides around on a Heavy Mystic Nightmare - I like the way it looks, and it suits her. My dwarven GF rides around on an armored boar from the summer festival. Yes, it looks silly, but it suits him. My human CW will be getting a floating disk one of these days - a most appropriate mount for him.

Quite frankly I wouldn't mind paying for something like this - Cryptic, I am offering you my $$$ - please give me something I want.
    Hoping for improvements...

Check out my post, "The lesson of the pet rock" in player feedback for clues from Kreatyve on mount training where I proposed upgrades priced at 250k, 500k and 750k (original upgrades were 250k to Rank 2 and 375k to Rank 3).

Actually, after posting the above, I got some "leaked" information about how things will change in module 9, and while those changes cannot be discussed here (NDA violations), I think I will be pretty happy.

    Enough said.

As of a few weeks ago I don't think it had an internal name either. That could have changed but I can tell you that I do not know what the name is if there is one.

The content is often decided upon before names are decided unless the content is part of a Wizards of the Coast promotional partnership. For instance Tyranny of Dragons.

1 I hope so, this has been discussed several times since Beta, not including the "no you can't put your mounts in the 'Stronghold stable' option which could change later.

    2. Correction White and Green are both +50% mounts, so no upgrade needed.

    3. Maybe.

    4. I too have a Dwarven GF and he rides a Purple Mystic Nightmare which he plans to upgrade to Rank 4, He also has a Duergar sled, he calls it his 'Redneck Rocket Sled' after a song by Willie Robertson from 'Duck Dynasty'.

You're right Zen could hit 500 again.
