Zergs build is hands down one of the best, if not the best, that I've seen on the internet. The thought and reasoning reflected in his statements and approach reflect a higher degree of wisdom and experience than others. While not directly compatible with MoF, there is enough in common to make the tweaks just that.

With MoF, critchance is going to be the priority. Getting it over 50% is where effort should be put first. I recommend phantasmal destruction over nightmare wizardry. You can get combat advantage fairly easy and 15% additional critsev is great. Eye of storm should be substituted with critical conflagration. 20% additional critsev is a good thing. I would recommend reapers touch over critical power for dealing with melee classes. Personally, I prefer scorching burst to chilling cloud. It's a quick way to get smolder going for DoT and it's easy to refresh smolder with a cold attack. There's a choice to be made when going with scorching burst or chilling cloud. Arcane burst or energy recovery. Keep in mind a few extra hitpoints or stacks of arcane mastery can have a considerable effect on how effective your particular tactics and strategies are.

Zerg's build is the best one currently up-to-date online. There are a couple of other builds that can keep up with zergs build, and even out damage it in specific circumstances, but no guides have been written yet for these specs, mostly because it takes forever to write a guide XD

Trying to decide if I should complete the elven assault set or not. the robes are the missing component. I have the elemental alliance raid robes for power and crit. right now I have

    hp 86120
    power 10137 25%
    crit 7630 19.1%
    arpen 6128 54.6%

If I switch to the elven robes I'll lose 828 power and exchange for nearly even arpen. I know arpen is important but I seem a little weak on power. it's a bit of a balancing act no? or should I be just stacking on that arpen no matter what? I've been trying to balance out those three stats because they all seem important for a cw build. the extra hp would be nice. I suppose I could get some power enchantments and trade out some of the darks.

I have been using ironzerg's renegade dps build for a while. My CW was my dps character, but I have made a GWF to be my top dps. I didn't want to let my CW go to waste, so I thought about making him more control oriented instead of crit dps. I have looked for a good control-first cw build, but can't seem to find any updated ones. Any help with creating a control build would be helpful.

why in the world is the intellect devourer a good companion it only gives u 22-50 points ......

It's because of the +% to combat advantage damage. If you can maintain constant combat advantage, like a Renegade CW can, it's one of the highest damage boost active companions in the game, especially at epic.

Is this still true? I have read issues with CA, or this companion specifically, being broken and not WAI. Mine is currently uncommon and I am hesitant to spend the 500k upgrading it to epic.

I really wish we had the capability to test this stuff on Xbox like you guys do. :(

@ironzerg79 @romotheone do you guys still recommend a summoned companion with 3 Perfect+ bonding over an augment for a well geared CW(3330iLvl) that mostly runs with other well geared players?

I ask because all content in this game currently is ridiculously easy at this point with our typical groups and since stuff in dungeons die so quickly I'm wondering if a summoned companion is really the better option? Since we do not have the Zhen warlock, our best option is probably the Yeti and most groups of mobs would be nearly dead before I'm guessing I would get 2 or 3 procs of Gift.

A BiS GWF on PC said she prefers augments because she is so dependent on quick burst damage and 100% crit and everything but bosses die in a couple seconds.

I have yet to purchase and upgrade the Yeti but it would be a 2mill investment so I am hesitant.

Thanks for helping us out on XBOX!

I probably agree with you but I'm asking about active companions not augments and if they are worth it since most mobs in dungeons are dead in under 10 seconds.

I decided to switch from my augment to the air archon which I already had so I am not out anything if I switch back. In theory it should work out great because even with just 2 stacks of companions gift I will have over 17k power and 16k crit. With 3 stacks I will be over 19k on power and 18k crit.
  • boom782boom782 Member Posts: 183 Arc User
Wow, just tested this for a bit on the dummies and I somehow got 4 stacks occasionally putting me at 21k power and 20k crit giving me an 84% crit chance.

    Game on!

    With Air archon equipped:

    13.5k power
    12.5k crit
    6.3k ArPen
    2.9k recovery
    341 AP Gain
    1600 CA bonus
    600 Control Bonus
    5.1k Def
    2.4k LS

Will be swapping out Heart of blue dragon for Sigil of Controller next week after double RP which will increase power 1000 and lower recovery 1000.

Don't know how to link to my character otherwise I would do that.

Does the CA received from Nightmare Wizardry not proc Phantasmal Destruction? If so do you think it is WAI or broken?

I was just messing around on a dummy and noticed that Phantasmal Destruction never popped up even after Nightmare Wizardry unless I was using a companion and actually flanking the dummy.

No, I didn't look at that. I am just going off of the fact that 'Phantasmal Destruction' did not pop up unless I was flanking an enemy.

It seems to me that is broken based off of the wording of Nightmare Wizardry and Phantasmal Destruction.

Nightmare Wizardry - When you crit a foe you have a 4/8/12/16/20% chance for you and your allies to gain Combat Advantage against it for 12 seconds.

Phantasmal Destruction - When you deal Combat Advantage damage you have a 40% chance to gain 3/6/9/12/15% Critical Severity for 6 seconds.

So when we crit, which I do constantly at 70-80%, we have a decent chance at gaining CA which then would proc Phantasmal Destruction and increase our Crit Severity. Well I unleashed my at-will for a good minute or two and Nightmare Wizardry popped up multiple times but PD never once unless I was flanking the dummy. As soon as I moved to the other side of the dummy and my companion stayed, both Nightmare Wizardry and Phantasmal Destruction popped up on my screen within 5 seconds.

I will test again and look at my actual Crit Severity to see if it goes up but I am guessing it is not based on the actual text not showing up.
  • boom782boom782 Member Posts: 183 Arc User
Ok, so it seems NW does in fact proc PD it just does not pop up on the screen as most things do.

Here's my thoughts. If you're melting stuff so fast in dungeons that everything dies in a couple seconds, it doesn't really matter, does it?

But most other people would argue that Companions + Bonding still maximizes your DPS output when it's important. Which is usually on bosses, not trash. Your GWF friend is probably just looking to be at the top of the Paingiver chart at the end of each dungeon...but who cares who does the most damage, most of it to trash, right?

Also, I would probably NOT get the Yeti if you're doing groups. He's a great pet, but he pulls agro with his taunts, which can really wreck havoc with a tank. If someone's pet is taunting a boss, it has the tendency to spin as agro gets swapped around, which often times leads to a lot of dead DPS who are catching cleaves. You're much better off with a Striker companion...and you definitely want to look for something with at least 2, if not 3 offensive slots.

Better for PVE? Most likely. But worthwhile? Probably not. I think I might actually respec and switch over to Lionsmane gear since I want to start playing around with PVP and PVE gear/spec is not necessary for PVE content but PVP gear/spec is almost necessary to be good at PVP.

    I hope that makes sense.

I am a MOF and i run ironzergs build with the exception i use lightning enchant with abyss. I use crit conflag and CP. I have 3 archons an intellect devour and the blink dog as my main. I keep crit at 50%, aromor pen at 60% with companions gift. I stack power. I stack lifesteal where i can and choose boons with incoming healing like ironzerg says. I can stand in all Heroic encounters in icewind dale and 1 man them with the exception of purples. 9 out of 10 times im top pain giver, 9.9999 most kills, and usually top 2 in heals. Thought Id share what I use, dont know how it stacks up to other builds but ive spect every way possible SS and MOF and this is by far the best i have tried for pve.
