Normal keyboard and mouse
I play on a normal keyboard and mouse because I'm too poor to afford a gaming keyboard and mouse.

What finger are you using to hit the spacebar that makes it hard for you to jump so much?

Gaming keyboard and mouse
I love my Razer Naga Epic as well as my Corsair RGB K95.
I hesitate to just be as black and white as saying I am using "Gaming" products as if it is no longer a keyboard and mouse or is only for gaming. Sure they are in fact branded as "gaming" products but I would have both of these whether I gamed or not. Well maybe not...but that's not because they wouldn't be useful.
Honestly my favorite feature on the K95 is the scroll wheel for volume adjustment. It's much more intuitive than those +/- buttons. It's become so second nature to me that when I use another keyboard it gives that same "Oh...yeah...eh" feeling that the majority of people get when they use a mouse without a scroll wheel. I bought it because it was the first mechanical keyboard with RGB (I am vain) and really only have the G keys because why not have them in case I want them. I rarely use them TBH. It's just a mechanical keyboard with pretty lights and a scroll wheel to adjust volume for me.
The buttons on the side on the side of the Naga Epic are great for use in any program which has trigger keys to boost productivity of any kind. As somebody who spends a lot of time in front of a computer both professionally and recreationally I can promise you the mouse is a godsend. I bought the mouse to help with the difficulty I have triggering the number keys in NW and MOBA's but I quickly found myself uncomfortable when using a computer without it.
So yeah I use "gaming" products... But truthfully...they're just what I am more comfortable with. I don't sit here setting up keys. In fact my Naga has always been set up to only do keys 1 through = unless I have the work profile on in whcih I have various windows commands on it. All it does is move key presses from my left hand to my right so the hands have a move equal role in productivity whether I am playing a game or working.
Think back 15 years ago when back and forward buttons were new. The first thing FPS players did was move the reload button over to the mouse which was not branded as a "gaming" mouse. Today what makes a product "gaming" is more often than not more buttons but truth be told there's plenty of reason to use and want more buttons if you apply just a bit of imagination.
Really, we all either use a keyboard and mouse of a controller. You can buy the lowest end keyboard and mouse or you can spend some shiny pennies. You can use the stock controller or you can spend just as many shiny pennies on stuff like the newest controller microsoft just released. What you use is more about what you are comfortable with more so than anything else.
I use a normal Logitech M525 mouse, but I use a Microsoft Bluetooth number pad for most everything else:
(The mapping is shown with the default keystrokes shown in red. "Mark" is only mapped when playing my GF. "1/2" means I map it to one of the dailies, depending on which alt I'm playing.)
The mouse has a mouse wheel that has "buttons" for tilting the wheel left or right. Tilting it left pushes mouse button 4 and tilting it right pushes mouse button 5. I have button 4 mapped to "mount/unmount" and button 5 mapped to "jump".

I am using an $18 gaming keyboard, (the only real difference from a standard keyboard is the colored wasd keys and anti-ghosting features), and a $7 gaming mouse, (the only difference here is selectable DPI/tracking speed and it's a bit heavier than a standard mouse). They both work quite well for my needs, and didn't break the bank...

Gaming keyboard and mouse
Yep.
Seriously "gaming" peripherals are just a marketing ploy which just means flashy. They have function too but more often than not it's just an added price tag and flash.
Again, my keyboard is expensive and is a gaming keyboard...but all in all it is just a mechanical keyboard with anti-ghosting and a scroll wheel volume button. G keys are nice but they are really more flash than anything else. I doubt most people put them to good use unless they use them and break EULA's. Truthfully anti-ghosting is the best benefit from a "gaming" keyboard for the average person and that feature is literally only a few dollars more than a base keyboard.
The same logic can't apply to my mouse as it has a glorious function...but it's extra buttons. Any mouse with forward and back buttons would give most of the benefit of a "gaming mouse." Even DPI selection isn't much more than paying for comfort as you will only be your best playing at a DPI you are comfortable with.
