Why Do You Vote Kick

sarolsarol Member Posts: 4 Arc User
Good Day everyone,

I've recently started playing the game as a Guardian Fighter and I've noticed something odd when queueing for dungeons/skirmishes/etc. No sooner is the group formed and in the dungeon when I start receiving messages that people are wanting to vote kick someone.

I understand normal/obvious reasons to vote kick someone such as not pulling their weight or doing something stupid, however, from my observation it's just a random vote kick. We load in, I see everyone standing there, I start going down the passageway to fight a mob when all of the sudden a vote kick appears. Why do you vote kick someone when we haven't even encountered/killed the first mob? Any insight to this mentality would be appreciated.

People vote kick for many reasons.. Maybe they think the player has a low gearscore, maybe the player is the same class as another player, maybe they think the guy has a poor build, maybe they want to get their friend in a lobby, maybe they don't like the guild a player is in, maybe they are doing for the lulz, maybe they don't like that specific class, maybe they played with that person before and they were bad.

Moral of the story is this thread is a waste of time, because every individual is inherently different and people kick for different reasons. If people putting up vote kicks upset you so much then I suggest you either find a new game or join an active guild..

I don't feel this thread is a waste of time and it doesn't upset me that people get kicked, I just don't understand the mentality. Based on your first paragraph of reasons for people vote kicking, you are basically just saying people in this game are dicks, which I can live with, I was just hoping that wasn't really the case.

@blindmonkeyz - Thanks for the response. While normally I do group with several other friends, sometimes it's just me online, but fair point overall.

I keep a list of users who have booted and looted. If I join a queue and see one of them I vote to kick. If it fails I leave.

Hot coal to burn a hole in it even. LOL. People will always kick if they have the chance. Even if there are changes they will find a way around it to kick. Its just something we have to deal with. I dont worry about it. Its part of the game and it wont go away.

The advantage of the vote to kick system and its abuse is, you will get to see what the people are really like. It helps to identify the trash of the community and block such people.
Without that option you would live in an illusion that the world would be fine and all people were cool. I personally prefer to face the hard truth rather than a soft lie.

why this comment is true for 99.98% of the time, there are exceptions you need to kick someone out for good, e.g. when one is idleing away, or totally useless for all and everyone, therefor ruining everyone elses dungeon run.

I fully agree with identifying the trash, good point.

My SW is beastly in dps and I still get kicked on occasion. No worries though, it will all be changing soon enough. To answer the TC, I only VtK people who are disconnected and obviously not coming back. Any other reason in my opinion is lame. Even if someone is struggling and not doing well I will attempt to help them vs kicking them.
    Signature under construction, stay tuned.

The only instances where i've had issues in PUG groups are when 3-4 member guilds join in. Yes it protects them from VTK, however these groups are often the last to accept the realities of who in the group is the real dead weight.

Even still I'll give every group a chance as you never know until you hit that first big boss how everyone can can hold up, however without a cleric and/or tank you might as well start looking for the weak link because if it happens to be you you're wasting your time. I hate kicking anyone after they've spent the past 30-60 minutes fighting through a dungeon as there is nothing more demoralizing than getting absolutely nothing from the game after the time you've invested....however sometimes there is little choice if the group is going to have any hopes of success.

There's many reasons for kicking but the one I seem to see the most is if there's two of one class e.g. HR and the Dungeon has one or more HR drops. The other HR will start a Vote kick. Also low gear score. I know TRs get kicked from Pirate King because many of the drops are for their class so no-one has a chance of the drop but there's plenty of 'universal' drops too (belts, rings etc).

This is why I would like to see the "need" option removed from the loot drop system....in theory it's great because if something drops that will truly help your character then you should have first dibs, however in reality the vast majority of those that "need" a purple drop are simply wanting to sell on the AH like everyone who chose "greed".

i don't get kicked from PUGs nearly as much as a few weeks ago. occasionally i get grouped with a guild trying to 4 man the dungeon so get kicked. sometimes we struggle on the boss of elol... someone may get kicked after a couple of tries. sometimes the kicks fail. most often someone will leave of their own will.

of course, it's harder to get a PUG for dungeon's these days anyway. the only quick queue is regular shores.

I do alot of solo Shores and eLoL. I havent been booted with my CW. But he holds his own very well. I have even done lots of runs with other CW and dont get booted, we both usually take care of all the garbage for the group cause of our AOE.

Agree on PK. Noone wants to run with a rogue because they can need on everything pretty much. I don't do PK though because of the constant disconnects.

I run 99% PUG the only group I go in with is a PUG where everyone wants to run again

I never have never will vote to kick anyone

I always vote NO and if I do not like the group I leave ( probably why I do not run with my Guild because they told me if something Huge drops they will kick non guild members I said I would leave after I vote No ....I think I need a new guild )

It is the worst for disconnecting lol. I find when there's one or more CWs in there then the crashing seems to be worse. But that's still no reason to kick ;)

I do find myself checking all the names when I PUG a dungeon to see if 3 or more are from the same guild. If they are then I have a bad feeling all the way through the dungeon which typically turns out to be right. They're not all bad though. Just more than there should be.

i,ve have noticed people kick for many reasons, while using my CW, i would get kicked alot from ELOL, if using the PUG, i didnt understand why most of the time............................but after using my GWF, i,ve noticed most PUG groups dont need a DPS class, a tank and healer is top priority, most pug already have dps classes, mostly TRs, so a CW is not really needed and if your not giving out enough DPS you will prob get kicked in favour of a high DPS TR, my GWF is iron vanguard, sentinel build and is a tank, therefore i get kicked alot less.

dunno about that. I have a CW with SS renegade. while I'm not generally number one I am usually near the top in damage and heals (sometimes I out heal the healer)

@poopoomcmuffns How do you block the last 4? I've been having to use the Xbox record feature to get the names, but that doesn't show their xbox handle name. (So I can report unsportsmanlike conduct.)

It's a shame ARC actively encourages boot'n'looters. Protecting them with anonymous unlimited votes and preventing the community from identifying them under the name-and-shame rule. Which is technically only naming. (They shame themselves.)

^^Not a valid reason to kick in, most people's opinion. The only reason to kick is when someone is AFK/ no clue of returning. All other reasons are honestly just jerk reasons, and I hope I never group with anyone who kicks for any other reason.

We only Kick where people refuse to follow the group requests, PK crashes with too many ads being engaged and some poor sucker ends up at the home screen consequently we ask people not to run on and cause the mass mob at the campfire if they disregard the request they get kicked
Also if they repeatedly trigger the loot screen in combat, third time after our request we kick them.

We don't kick for class or for loot reasons ever.

If we find ourselves in CN and don't have a cleric we will kick till we get one (although the game is supposed to take care of that for us now, but I have yet to see it.
