yea why are yall allowing shards of power to be sold in Auction house, now im sure some1 is botting and getting tons of AD from 800k per 100 shards , so this issue needs to be corrected ASAP
Well Looks Like they Cannot anymore :c as the auctions I have are no longer visible and now I cannot put certain ones up What a Waste
Was going to be a nice pick up of AD from what it looked like and then was gonna get some for the guild I am in once it calmed down. Sigh.
My Partner is gonna kill me for spending 30 dollars bah.

I strongly disagree that it's a bad idea.
By allowing people to trade shards for AD, it means that later on when heavily established guilds have excess, they can make it easier for the smaller startup guilds. Moreover, it means that PVE guilds that want that +8000 power building don't have to go through PVPing, they can buy from the AH.
But yes, it looks like they've reset it so you can't sell them on the AH anymore, so I'm really rather quite salty right now.
Snails Pace HAVING them be able to be sold Increases guilds abilities to increase strongholds faster.

Well, I mean,
One thing they could do is have stronghold stuff be BoP for the first, say, year of play. But then starting next year, they remove that binding, so that older more established guilds can sell their stuff to the newer guilds, so the newer guilds aren't at as significant of a disadvantage. So, having them be BoP now is okay I guess, but I still think that eventually you should be able to sell shards.

Yes those Adventurer's shards of power to make the farm, which has to be the second thing you make, are going to take forever. With only getting 10 at a pop, going to be forever to get to 1,500 of them.

I have me, myself and I, but 16 characters, but I am only at about 50 right now. The other 20 accounts in my guild are MIA at the moment. Very small guilds are going to take forever and ever.

It's not just the Shards of Power.
27k points in Surplus Equipment, at 5 points per green item, 20 for blue -- that's a lot of gear for a small guild to ask their members to get.
Gem costs are really high, too -- considering that everyone but the BIS still needs gems for enchantments and artifacts.

Yes, they are catering towards BiS players and larger guilds. Yes, I understand they need to make it to where the larger guilds will not finish too early, or get everything within a week or so, but this method is making it almost impossible for smaller guilds. And there are reasons why some prefer small guilds (family guilds, problems with other players, etc). So it is not as simple as just join a big guild, some can not do that, or will not.

The cynic in me thinks they should make it hard initially, and then make it progressively easier over time, so guilds can catch up.

Ahhh, but you see, that would mean not catering to the whales in the name of short sighted eyes on the bottom line "profit now and who cares about the long term consequences!" mentality that currently seems to be gripping The Powers That Be. As it stands, I'm going to have to probably desperately try to research some of the larger guilds to see if there's one that my own is compatible with. Otherwise, we're all going to get left behind.
Across the board the materials needed to get the first 3 buildings up and running (lumberyard, Mill and Marketplace) are exceedingly high. Considering the 30k guild mark limit even players in small guilds with access to donate considerable amounts are maxing out super fast. The coffer donation amounts and building requirements on Surplus gear, 'Stolen' treasures (as an alternate particular campaign currency, Surplus gems, labor, etc. ) are not realistic in any way shape or form. As for the line about Cryptic not wanting to make it to easy for larger guilds to fast track levels...well tbh if that's the case than they never should have added the stronghold items to the Zen marketplace (but I guess they would have lost out on money). So for the love of god cryptic for those of us that are in small guilds and are not whales (there are more of us than the other) readjust those amounts across the board now not in 3 weeks.

Yes, if they lowered it by at least a factor of 5-8 that would alleviate some of the problem. Well would be better if it was 10, but I doubt that is going to happen.

Although I think 150 adventure's shards are more than enough to make a farm, instead of the 1500 it takes.

Getting resource production up and running should not be an insurmountable task for even small guilds. Building the basic structures should be something that even small guilds can do in under a week (let's face it, the largest guilds will have that in a few days even with the current state of affairs). To grow and expand from there, by all means, increase the costs; you want a Marketplace, make it easy to build it, you want to upgrade that marketplace, well, that is going to cost you.
Recuding the cost at this point is terrible idea. At best they can increase the amount gained, so it will take less but it wont break the balance.
TBH both avenues need to be addressed and quickly....amount of shards gained, amount of influence gained, amount of required resources (not including wood/food/metal/stone as those can be aquired via their respective buildings..might be worth a look but those items and their required amounts are in no way totally unreasonable at least the initial stages) however every thing else is in dire need of a quick fix.
They also could possibly increase the caps per day on influence add in more quests for shards of powers (simply doubling them aint going to fly unless the say 1.3/1.5k amounts needed for farm and marketplace are drastically reduced).

Try doing it with a guild where you are the only active player. After 4 days I am up to a whole 120 Adventurer's shards, and the farm takes 1500. I already have all the other materials to make it, just waiting on the shards. At this rate it will take over 10 weeks just to build the farm. So the basic buildings do need a reduction to their build materials, for certain. Or increase the amount of shards from questing up to say 50-100.

Pretty sure they don't expect one-play-guilds to actually be able to make any progress...

Oh there are 21 accounts in the guild, but most of the others left back at the time of the "dragonborn pack" controversy. So no clue if they are ever coming back. But the fact of the matter is, if you can make a guild with 5 accounts, things in stronghold should still be able to done by 5 people. In a reasonable amount of time. That or raise the minimum number of accounts allowed in a guild.

It is a good thing that really all I am wanting from the expansion is the 125 ilevel armors. The rest will be gravy if I can get it.
rickcase276Member, NW M9 PlaytestPosts: 1,404Arc User
That or buying lots and lots of starter packs with botted AD/Zen.

And I imagine there is more guilds similar to the one I am in, than Cryptic or most people think there are. I would be willing to bet that over 30% of the "active" guilds are lucky to be able to have more than 5 people online at any given time.
