Whoever it is at Cryptic who has the final decision on what is "fun" needs to be fired.

Seriously, I just done 10 runs of that event only got 3 favors. The only thing I love about this event is the night sky, the rest just make me mad because I don't want to go and farm countless ammount of mobs in sharandar or whatever.

Of the 30 "events" I participated in, I received a coin in every one but 4. I have my panther (which is pretty but poorly finished) and have 5 extra coins. Once everyone started talking about how little coins they where getting, I even started keeping track. Honestly, don't even worry about the event. Just go out and quest, turn in a few fireworks every 30 mins, then go back to questing.

If it had been well explained, in detail by the NPC it would be doable for many of us. Unfortunately when they change the rules they don't change the in-game instructions. Having to fish thru the forums isn't part of a fun game.

Had a friend put 185 rockets in. Got 1st place and nothing. Explained that 15 more
would've gotten him a token... he was crushed.

I am so glad that I came to these forums to read the comments. I thought the game was broken because I haven't gotten a single token. I had problems with the last event where I was not receiving a reward for completing all three quests. And then the game stopped offering me all the quests each day the event ran. I am quickly becoming disillusioned with the game.

I feel that there is a fundamental disconnect between how the devs envision players participating in the event, and how players *actually* participate. If I were to conceive of a game event, one of the questions I would address would be "how many of the event rewards should your average player be able to earn from this event, and in what time frame".

For instance, this event is running for about 5 days. In that time, should someone who plays for an hour or 2 a day be able to earn the panther or Llira's Bell? If so, just how much of that playtime should they have to devote to said event?

Look at the last Winter Event - there was the daily quest which gave you a guaranteed reward. Yes, there was a random element to what, exactly, you got, but it was something. Here, not only must you devote a significant amount of time to the event, but you may still walk away with nothing for your trouble.

Here's what they should have done - have the daily quest grant 5 tokens, then have another quest to take part in 3 of the "light the sky" events, grant another 5 tokens. That means, if you do every quest, every day, you'd be guaranteed to be able to afford 1 bell and 1 panther - would that really be so bad?

It is bugged as most things in this game are also. I had 55 crates in, the no#2 person had 24, the next person had 14, and when it ended, the final tally was as follows:

Gold = To the person with 14
Silver = To the person with 24
    Bronze = Me with 55

So I guess the less you put in, the better off you are?? I just pray that they ALL take a 2-4 month vacation so that we can just play without anymore screwed up content. Talk about shooting themselves in the foot, they all must have machine guns with 150 round clips.

    My experience with this event.

I leave it to everyone's decision to decide what, either bad programming work again or broken RNG again, which i try- desperately- to point out since long.

So, i did it on my main and i was first, the list came down and i was Nr. 1. Now here comes to joke (ironic), i was placed in the Bronze Bracket, the person behind me, was the Silver and the others behind her, so from the 3rd spot on, the Bronze Bracket again.

I mean wth. So it was Bronze, Silver, Bronze again. Sorry, so bad and broken, like everything nowadays. Standard must rise back a bit, it is currently very low, if even a small event is not working as it should.

At minimum the priestess should have given a Token each day for participating...

Of all deities Lliira, the goddess of joy, happiness, freedom and liberty, stands for the next grind-fest, which only fuels the impression that players should be pushed into buying the ZEN event currencies (fittingly the daily reward is a store voucher…). You have two ways to get the new cool-looking Starry Panther Mount and both are equally annoying. Going with the guaranteed tiers, you would need to amass about 3400 Fireworks. I got 19 from an eCC run today. In what world is that reasonable? Depending on the amount of players in an instance and given a fast mount you probably are able to get about 200 per “Light up the Night” contest + farming for another twenty minutes fully buffed. That’s 8.5 hours of work and a best-case scenario, because you would need a partner to rebuff you during mob farming every ten minutes. 12+ hours is much more realistic. You could also test the RNG and only drop five Fireworks (players suggested a Favor dropping in every other contest in that case). It’s only a one-minute task, but requires to log in over a span of 25 hours. And that’s only the Panther for 25 Favors. The Mask adds an additional 10 and maybe you also want some dyes? Please don’t go for the Bell, it’s like 20k in the AH and not worth the pain.

    Have fun reading.

Even if there is a 50% chance you'll get a favor it doesn't mean if you didn't get a favor the first time you would get one the second time and for the third time none but the fourth you get a second favor. You could do many many runs and just be unlucky enough to always get the bad part of the 50%. As it doesn't take in to account what you got in the last run you did. So if you're really unlucky you will not get any favors at all.

Frankly, you would have a much better chance at non peak US hours , then otherwise, so not sure why you are complaining that its driving during that time, its a 24 hour a day event over several days.

Any time zone can play it. Peak US hours between like 6-12 Eastern is probably the worst.. not the best.

Otherwise, Ive always skipped this one.. not worth the time for me anyways.

I placed 1st with about 90 fireworks, it said I got COPPER level, and ZERO tokens.
lmao. I still have 3 from last year, looks like that's all I will ever have. #smf

Yep. First equals third. Sounds about right to me. Where's the problem? Everybody knows that 1+1=3....

It was absolutely fine last year when participating in the contest guaranteed you ONE favor. Certainly grindy mostly because of the need to keep coming back to PE for the contest, but achievable.

What people would get upset about was that they'd think they were winning after a huge effort and someone would come along and dump in a ton of fireworks right at the end and they'd lose their first place standing.

I think the buffs to get more firework dropping from mobs was a clever idea but the implementation was atrocious. They didn't explain how it worked at all. The NPC's text is still from last year, indicating that she should give you a daily favor, which she does not. She doesn't have anything to tell how the buffs work. But you really do need to be buffed as much as possible to make the grind doable, and there is likewise no indication of the thresholds you need to meet in order to obtain favors from the contest. Players had to figure it out and spread the word for you.

Not having a participation reward is a LOUSY, ROTTEN thing to have done to your players who were just trying to have a good time. Would it have hurt to have kept a single favor from any level of participation in the contest, while allowing people to obtain more favors in shorter time by taking full advantage of the buffs, or simply buying them outright? Surely not. Instead, you decided to run with the option that would leave a lot of your players disappointed and far less interested in continuing to play the reworked event, because the "improvements" made it far worse for casual engagement.

...oh, you can get streaks of quite some blanks. I did that with a dedicated char and got like 5 blanks in a row as my longest tough-luck-streak.

On the other hand I got me two Pathers with that. Even two and a hlaf if you include the won second and third Favors when I put up bigger lumps of fireworks. After all, and after dumping probably a third to half a million AD on other players' AH-offered fireworks, I got the four Panthers I had been after. though, yes, it's been unpleasantly grindy at lot of the time.

Lastly, what is even more ridiculous, pricing wise, is the event dye...

...four tokens for one measly dye pack? You gotta be kidding...

5 or 10 dye packs wouldve been more appropriate for that price.
