You have to place high in the event that occurs every half hour.
...placing high has nothing to do with it. Not this year...
Run for 5 fireworks and place then in the mortar battery every half hour. This nets you a 50% or maybe higher chance for one token. Add 195 more fireworks - 200 total - for one guaranteed favor and a 50% or somesuch chance for a second. Or 500 total for 2 guaranteeds. I tried for shizzles and placed a hundred in a small 3-contestant field, making me first - and came out with no token, 2 Llira's fireworks... :^/
Smart way: Run for five, place them. Run on during that event phase and stash those bundles of five fireworks in the shared bank - until you have 200. Then place these in the mortar, and all else in the bank again. Rinse, repeat...
If true, the event might not be as bad or at least that would give it a reasonable way to get Favors. Not sure why you have to have RNG everywhere, it just sucks the fun out of it.
The reason RNG is so that you have a stroke hoping to accomplish a menial task.

Meh. Whatever. I collect up fireworks when they drop and put them on the stage when I'm back in PE, then enjoy the show. I liked the massive fireworks dragon that flew overhead.
This isn't a game-breaker for me. There's nothing in the store I want, so I just pick up the extra drops and enjoy the views when I can. Or, more often than not, I'll email my fireworks to my partner. She really likes the fireworks show.

I am not going to read all of the posts... but have any of you seen the 'Boobyprize'? It is a random coupon... as if we did not already get enough of them. It takes a lot of effort to discard the 6 that I get during invocation... and they are annoying... now I have to discard more.
Sorry, but unless your current course of actions do not change for the better... we will either be collecting them to wallpaper our strongholds or we will discard them. We are ALL not idiot consumers.
I want the panther, but I will be selling all of the professional fireworks that my toons collect.
WORST EVENT EVER!

Having a coupon as the 'rewards' for completing the daily is appalling. It's almost offensive. A reward that just says we should spend cash on the store is really bad taste.

Wonder what the summer fest will entail? Cooldown on petals so you have to buy them with Zen?
Apparently it would be more fun that way .

So, I wasn't planning on taking part in this event, but when I saw there was a new mount available, I decided I might give it a go. After reading this thread, I say feck it.
Our pain is self chosen.

So basically the feedback on the "reworked to be more fun" Lliiras event is almost universally negative ,@devs , please stop trying to make events 'more fun' lots of love from the community
Apparently the devs idea of "fun" involves poking yourself in the eye with a sharp stick.... 'Cause this ain't fun!

Has anyone figured out if the consumable fireworks buff is just something that causes more professional fireworks to drop from mobs? Or is there a trick with it and the actual contest?
Note to players, the guaranteed coupon was actually a really good prize last year (though you got a favor too), since we weren't getting flooded with them from bugged invocation rewards. I ground my butt off for them at the time. This year, yeahhhh, can't be bothered, even though I know they could be banked.

Right, so I got 4 drops from a single run of Phantasmal yesterday, which then would have been 28 if fully buffed. Actually doing a round of daily quests might make it not too difficult to obtain 200 fireworks as long as you were able to keep the buff up (duration?).
So it might be manageable, but dang that sounds like a ton of micromanagement and I'm assuming two players couldn't fully stack the buff on each other and you need a full party. Ouch.
Events should be a pleasant diversion, not something that requires massive effort to even figure out how it's meant to work. I think the attempt to make it more cooperative was a nice thought, but it should never have taken away getting a single favor as a participation award. That's the main place where they dropped the ball.
They could at least give us an option to buy panther from zen, for 4k zen like shadow wolf, account wide ofc, since i rly want panther mount, it would be first time when i would not be mad about move like this, but ofc... Now i need to farm for that mount and spend 2mln to upgrade it...
If I want the panther, I can wait until it floods the AH during winter event. Not worth wasting a whole weekend of my life for.
Well, u can actually buy the panther, but not acc-wide: the event bag contains 3 Llira's Favor = 125 ZEN. So 1k ZEN for a single char panther. Not really cheap, but if you have to fill up on monday, this might help. I'm running in circles. For a minute every 30... :^D

You can. You can buy 3xLiara's favor for 125 ZEN, then trade that in for the panther if you want.

Also, you get a buff from being there when the fireworks goes off that gives you extra fireworks when a box drops, 1 or 2. You can also use the other fireworks in a group to give everyone a buff that causes another extra firework to drop, stacks to 5. So I'm guess (yet to be tested) those could stack to give you up to 8 fireworks per box that drops.
How much does that really add up to? I don't know, but if you're farming for fireworks, it's probably best to do it with a buddy so you can share firework buffs.

This was one of my favorite events last year. I was excited as it would be my wifes first time doing it and she realy wanted the mount. We both gave up. Events like this are supposed to be fun and rewarding for minor effort to get account bound swag. Not a mindless unexplained grindfest for rewards that are nowhere near worth the time investment.
I hope to god that they dont touch the summer event.....

My best case scenario math is 8.5 hours for the Mount (25 Favors). You can get the 200 Fireworks you need for 1.5 Favors every 30 minutes by doing the contest and farming the rest of the way with max buffs. That's 17 runs for 25.5 Favors or 8.5 hours.
That however can only be done effectively with a partner that rebuffs you during farming every ten minutes. So it's more likely that you do the contest, get the buffs at the podium (many players are throwing fireworks after the contest) and only partially farm mobs buffed. So I think 12+ hours is more realistic.
Yeah I think im going to pass on this one.....With it being summer and 95 to 100 outside and 105 to 110 inside i think the pool is the better place for me LOL.....
That same thought came to my mind.. about 12-13 hours, IF I'm lucky to get a favor. That is really a slap to the face. I'd rather be out enjoying the weekend in RL.

Indeed. That's four hours per day exclusively for the event. Honestly that's a bit too much and we're not even talking about getting all the rewards, but just the newly added one. At some point I thought events are just not designed to be completed the first time, but on the other hand they add more stuff every year and (not this time though) also have deleted event currencies in the past so you couldn't save up and continue.
This only fuels the impression that players should be pushed into buying the ZEN event currencies.
I'm running in circles. For a minute every 30... :^D
I agree with most of the posters above, some players may take a 'Stand by PC' attitude to grind for currencies, but for a once a year weekend only event, I wonder how any dev in their right mind would think spending the waking hours of that weekend on a timer would be considered adding more fun.
Other than such event mechanics cost players disruption to their normal life to participate, the real disappointment comes from the devs of Neverwinter seeming to make the worst 'improvement' decisions consistently, like near every time.
