There's no fighting against a team of cockatrices. You can have all the augment pets you want (which is what most PvEers run as a summoned companion), but it still won't compete with a cockatrice. It wouldn't compete without it either. The average PvEer is not BiS. 90% of the PvPers you encounter are. The PvEer would be dead in seconds regardless.

And this is the best way to do that? Surely not.

People just dont know what they dont know I guess.... They think its cool cause they "bought some companion" and want to "add flavor to pvp" well, I hate to break it to you, but it doesnt add flavor with companions it only adds issues.

I have cockatrices....

I'm well aware of how unbalanced PvP with companions is. I know the devs had some kind of weird Pokemon fantasy when they made them enabled in IWD OPvP, but their active bonuses mean it doesn't actually work that way in practice.

Cockatrices?
Yes, by all means ban those. And a few other companions, too.

Augments? +CC / +CCresist? +Stat (incl APgain etc.)? Healers?
Heck why not.

PvPers vs. PvEers?
Apart from experience issues, a lot could IMHO be attenuated by not considering gear tenacity boons, while upping the basic "free" tenacity effect.

BiS vs. non-BiS?
This is the ancient thing with the bracket system, and this should finally get into this game. The lack of this is what really makes PvP so unattractive to many a enthusiastic PvE player. And makes them resign after a few of the roflstomp matches against guild premades...

And in the Guild-vs-Guild scenario, the question is similar. The PvP guild will almost always beat the PvE Guild, just by simple know-how, a lot of practice in the specific teamplay there etc. - but this might give some PvE guilds an incentive to get up to scratch in PvP...

So yes are winning on no... for some reason the human evolution failed during its course
Its not easy for me to find like 6 more rank 12, radiabt are quite cheap or to find 5 companions... its just wrong to fight with companions like cockatrice etc. Would be limited to augmented i would complain less

Let me dig further. The thread is proposed by one of the most active players of one of the most important pvp guild with 0 problems about astral diamonds.
For some reasons we are not here to imvestigate.
Can we trust his opinion? Yes. Companions are wrong in pvp.
They have no problems to gear themself

Y'know what'd be awesome - if you could "post" your idle companions to guard duty for your stronghold - now that'd be pretty cool. I'm talking about the PvE section here, though, (and maybe as added defense in a small portion of the PvP section, very near to your own stronghold).

As for the open world PvP portion - It'd be neat if each side had friendly NPC forces to fight along side them, but otherwise, you should be completely on your own.

...my cynical mind rather goes: "When the PvP guildies want them banned, they seem to be afraid of having the field leveled..."

Else what I wrote above: With a few imbalanced pets' exceptions, I think companions should be allowed. Let the PvP players get the "have to gear up first"-buck this time.

Leave them out and all the PvE guilds would have to go through several weeks of PvP grind first to get the appropriate outfit. And figure out how to balance that. All the while the PvP guilds would wreak havoc at will. That's why I'm also all for a modulation of the gear-given Tenacity for the purpose of GvG...

If the rules are just the same as they are in common Dom or GG PvP, the PvP guilds will have all the advantages, heck they just can lauch at full speed and roflstomp all over the place. So let's make something new, so both sides have to learn something new...

Let's say: Death will be cheap and frequent if and when companions are allowed. And I think this is something we'll all have to adapt to.
If this is done via having companions allowed, PvP guilds still have their massive experience advantage, and they ofc can feel free to gear up as well - but this is a matter of a week or even less if you have the tomes. As opposed to fully PvE chars which first have to get their 50 daily wins to get their pink coins, and all the Glory required to buy good PvP gear, which will tie them down for quite a while and, while educational, also siphon off resources for char building, that could / would / should have been better spent in stronghold building.

TL;DR: For a level playing field just using standard PvP rules won't work. Companions will help rather the PvE side - though some pets should be banned or inactivated.

Yea, I suspect that the voting is skewed simply due to the messenger rather then the message. Some people will simply choose to stand in opposition to certain people, even if they might otherwise agree with the cause.

Well, yes. And no. And basically - DON'T just add new maps to the classical PvP rules!!!

Then we'll see the PvP guilds giving the PvE guilds a free trip to orbit. They'd have all the advantages - as if the experience advantage wouldn't be enough... ...and wether there should be companions allowed or not is another thing. I'd say ... well, what I wrote already.

I don't care too much about PVP as I avoid it. Why do I avoid it? Well, my companion is an augment companion and I optimize my stats for PVE, so that means that when my companion goes away, oops! Everything is out of balance. That really bugs me-hence why I voted to allow companions.

even though i side with your comment...im sure the devs are in-fact gonna help their lovely little 10% of the total game 'pvpers' and give them the advantage after all its only those pvpers that actually play the..right NW!?...i mean look at the normal pvp and then there's this new event...1500 for the highest price and how many days are u given.."here take 5 days..consider it a bonus to your already 'difficult task' status u little pve-er...we create all those dungeons and quests and campaigns but we dont give a Fs HAMSTER about pve-ers who actually play those pve content more than pvp-ers"...ugh!!....now im like "i have 3 day and 1350 tokens to collect!!!...worth it??...naah...forget any event ever existed....ima pee gladly all over the event ...figging MF **** >.<"...and thats my thought everytime i think about this event..

Since companions aren't transferrable between characters, allowing pets in strongholds will benefit those who have played a certian toon over a long period of time and not flitted between fotm toons built for pvp. Which will benefit the pvp/owpvp inexperienced players who have dedicated themselves to pve content. Going some way to levelling the playing field.

Allow pets.
No idea what my toon is now.

A good solution might be to allow the active bonus from companions but not the companions themself.

If a PvEer needs an augment pet, they buy a stone if for no other reason that it's 25% of the price of a cockatrice. They are fully aware that it has benefits in PvP. But it's not worth the money to them.
Seriously ? Have you looked at the AH prices for companions recently ? I recently decided to pick up an augment companion just to see what all the fuss was about. My choice was a Blue/Rare Ioun Stone of Allure which cost me 679k AD. I almost picked up a Cockatrice instead as I thought that it's Active Bonus would be incredibly useful to me in my PVE activities. At the time, about two weeks ago, an Epic Cockatrice could be bought for 400-450K AD. I opted for the Stone as I did a little research on the Cockatrice and found it was useless as the Active Bonus is bugged and not working for PVE (Maybe that has been fixed but I could not find any mention of that anywhere, just that it was broken). A check today shows the Stone can still be picked up for around 680k while the Cockatrice has gone up in price to around 650-700k AD, probably thanks to all the people posting on here about how useful it is in PVP :)

For the record, I am in two minds about how useful the Stone is. I really miss the healing provided by my Angel of Protection and switch back to that for some encounters. The Stone is useful for Skirmishes though as long as there is a healer in the party to handle the damage being dealt...and I can dodge enough to avoid getting too much in the first place :D
