....and they plan to close them down in the summer. So this begs the question: Why bother?

cause AOL has a fast-growing ad-tracking technology. That's what they want.

Verizon has bought a box, which contains a particular tool they want to use. Tools get used Lew. Tools get used.

Even so...I'm not sure AOL has been worth anywhere near 4 billion. Anyone remember the disastrous merger with Time Warner? Since then, they haven't exactly been an internet power. I remember 3.0 and using them on dial-up, and getting at least three trial CDs a week.

So if it's a box they bought...it's a really pricey box. Especially for ONE tool.

By purchasing AOL, Verizon also acquired other assets including EndGadget, TechCrunch, The Huffington Post, and more.

Not that AOL was any real competition for Verizon, and hadn't been since the advent of broadband.
