This may be a dumb question...

Since the game is built around an engine, aren't all the areas and quests and whatnot basically like building a Foundry..?

A bug that's properly reported and documented but which is still there after some time (there are still many two year old bugs, and they've been reported properly many times) is only there because the company doesn't want to fix it, ie doesn't want to invest what it takes to properly maintain a MMO. We all know that the number of devs working on neverwinter is around 20-25 people. That's really not much, given their goals and the size of the game they're trying to develop and maintain. Usually, a studio has 50 or so people working on a MMO. Which means that again, PW doesn't want to invest in its own products, and that tells a lot about the future of the game and what we can expect from updates.

Or maybe because it gets squashed under the sheer volume of new bugs that get reported that are higher up on the critical scale, as well as the incoming content they have to run through testing (and likely not for the first time).

Sure a fair portion, I would wager, of the level designs are probably very similar. Probably a much nicer toolset, but I bet it's very close to it. The functional aspects of the game are not likely in a toolset, they are probably built into module libraries and you have to parse code, that may or may not be well documented, for specific strings to change.

Thanks for proving my point then. If there are still that many critical bugs and no time to fix QoL bugs or merely annoying ones, it means the project is severely undermanned and that PW doesn't give a **** about making a long-lasting game with satisfied players.

    Back on topic,

My patient has run thin regarding this mod.

Had to wait for initial launch.
Had to wait for April 23rd patch that did nothing.
And now you are asking me to wait some more? What for?

In their very elementals, I suppose so. Of course, new areas require new products, new animations and stuff. Since it's new, it has to be created first before you can use it in whatever engine you use. For us that engine's the foundry, perhaps they have a quicker way to do the same.

What's funny about mod 6 is that none of the animation is new. Most of the paladin spells either look like glorified cleric spells and use the same assets, or look like very generic character animation. The Paladin is actually a modded cleric, a fairly well done one in terms of design, but the recycling of old animations looks pretty cheap and poorly done. I mean the first spell I unlocked on my lvl 4 paladin was a clone of sun burst and the animation was of course the same - that's also the very first cleric spell. Made me laugh quite a lot.

And none of the NPCs really have new spells or animations, they're merely reskins of older stuff and bosses.

So talking about "new" things is actually an exaggeration.

I really hope that they're looking hard at difficulty and intend to do something about it.

    Case in point:

Tonight I pushed my HR's defense up to 14.3k. That's right, over 14,300 just in the defense stat. My iLvl is over 3.9k. DR is 44.4%. I just finished an eLOL run. While we were fighting the scorpions, one did a simple claw attack on me -- no red area, nothing telegraphed, just a simple snap of its claw.

BAM! I'm down. 101k HP to 0 HP just like that. Through a crazy-high defense stat. Oh yeah, I also had it debuffed with a Pure Terror, which should lower its power by 40%.

I really hope they're looking at difficulty, because this is absurd.

well i agree aswell. the game has very serious issues right now,and i have been only playing since 2014...many of us probably do the same thing when it comes to getting our characters up to par we want to have the best gear the best spec....here is a little true story, i was in epic creigmire cripts we all had a gear score of 2000+ yet still with a tank, healer and crazy dps it was still a fail...funny thing is the trash mobs hit harder than the boss....

With all respect, I'm pretty sure that the devs are more than aware of player sentiments towards the game right now. They're also in a no-win situation. No response, it's "inexcusable" and if they respond it's "spin control". Honestly, I'm still of the school of thought that the playerbase expects a dev to throw themselves out a window in shame over this. But that's another topic altogether.

At any rate, the general argument is "why was this fixed instead of that?" The answer still boils down to one person had his task complete. The other did not. That is excluding questions of the complexity of the task at hand, or the overall proficiency of the person(s) assigned to the task.

You can shape this anyway you want too but it still boils down to communication. Not saying anything is far worse than saying something because for the most part people will understand. You're never going to please all the people but you can at least try. If you tell people why it happened and what you going to do about. Keep them updated with such things as why that was fixed before something else, you are buying good will at very little cost. You could even go to the extent of giving projected time lines for fixes with no guarantees.

My customer service knowledge varied, from Hospitality to one of the busiest transport systems in the world, London. I'm highly qualified in the field and acutely aware of the effects of good and bad communication on peoples behavior. The online gaming industry isn't immune to this and I would suggest is probably more susceptible to its affects when you take into account things like social networking.

Man i remember having 40% damage reduction on my HR. Combined with fairly low lifesteal and decent deflect it made for a pretty reasonable defense in mod 5. I still got overwhelmed at times with the WoD lair bosses, Tiamat, Black Ice Beholder, the ESoT boss, etc... You know: the things that were supposed to be hard, but overall I had a very solo-able toon.

Now with the Eternal Gear I have 16% DR and 18% deflect. Lifesteal... lol. nah. Seeing that an astronomical 44.4% DR is still worthless, I think I'm done until a real fix comes through. Thanks for the laughs.

Yep, a total no win situation. I've been there and it is a horrible place to be professionally. They can do or say very little that will result in anything other than negative feedback.

I just want to make sure it is clear that this not a case of unhappy mmo players griping about a "less than perfect" game, as they always do. No, this game is broken. People feel legitimately angry, disappointed, and betrayed.

No one expects anyone representing the game to come out and say, "ya we know it is just horrible!". But when we get spin, that is almost offensive. By spin I mean things like, "well no software is perfectly bug free" or painting this whole thing as the way business is and should be done. That is outrageous and absurd.

Yup...it really is as simple as this!

If i cant play the game in solo mode, i wont play, and frankly for me its not the end of the world.

It is possible that the game will move back to where is was re soloability, and if it does, im really not sure how i would know, (apart from receiving an email promo expressing that NW has been sold bla bla bla) for after my last log in and hunt being a kamikaze mission, i cant imagine jumping back into that (akin to a mental toothache) again. I also cannot imagine the game returning to soloablility due to the insane magnitude of change in mod 6, so much so, it really felt that i logged into a completly different game!

To the OP, I hope you're right because I know of countless players who have already left the game. I will keep an eye on things but, if I'm honest, I have my doubts that this will ever become the game I loved again.

This is precisely the kind of hyperbolic, fearful rumor-mongering that dominates these boards and zone chat right now, and its purveyors need to ramp it right the **** back. NO ONE knows the metrics associated with Mod 6's problems except Cryptic. They're not talking, and I assure you that your friend who has a friend who has an old college roommate who once coded for fun and might have overheard a conversation on a cross-country flight regarding those numbers knows NOTHING.

I have a general rule for such situations. 'If it looks like a Duck, Waddles like a Duck and Quacks like a Duck. Then its fair to say its a DUCK'! It really doesn't take much to notice the drop off in LFG's, Trades and friends list to realise there's a significant drop in players. It becomes even more apparent when Guild leaders make posts about huge number drops in membership. Isn't it also fair to say that if you can't make your way in lvl 70 content because you neither have the resources or gear then you're not going to play. I'd suggest that they're making an informed guess that's not without its truths.

I'm pretty sure there are a few things that can be tweaked very quickly and iterated on preview for folks to test. With the way things are going I bet you will have more than a few willing participants. I'd start off with the armor penetration stat they added to the enemies. First simply turn it off but leave everything else alone and see what happens. If the enemies hit like they are wearing oven mitts, turn it up 10% and go from there.

Many folks have asked this before but I have yet to see a response. I'm sure they do some sort of testing on the content prior to release but I want to know if any paid employee of Cryptic actually put on some blues and average enchants, partied up with an average comp party and ran through these T2s? They may be too embarrassed to say they did not, and were simply expecting the crafty and wise neverwinter community to rise to the challenge en masse, and thank them for their cruelty.

I am of similar opinion , feels like armor pen is the culprit, when you stacked all possible DR buffs from DC + pally and u feel like butter to mobs smth is not right.. I would fall of my chair if that was the case and simple removal of Apen from mobs / bosses and general pve enemies would "bring the balance back".

Please give it a try ~

I'm going to say this: You're looking at the matter with extreme tunnel vision. You're concentrating on ONE thing and expecting that the devs have all hands on deck--regardless of their actual proficiencies--drop everything that they are doing and work on getting this ONE thing fixed, to the absolute exception of everything else.

And I'm telling you--that's an inefficient use of manpower and resources. Seriously, if every problem could be solved by simply hiring more people, unemployment would be nonexistent--but we both know that isn't how things work. I would reasonably expect someone who has run a business to know that. Everyone that doesn't have a clue as to how to fix the problem is going to get in the way of everyone that does. This isn't your local McDonald's; cross-training isn't even feasible in a position with such a high degree of technical proficiency, so skill sets are NOT interchangeable between personnel. Yet those other personnel need to be assigned tasks. They CANNOT sit idle. So you assign them to do tasks that they ARE able to do. Depending on the difficulty of the tasks at hand, the person responsible for the "less critical" task may be done before the person responsible for the higher priority one. You can't throw more money or labor into it because there is such a thing as overtime and budget constraints.

The point I was trying to make--which you missed--is that you can't throw EVERYONE onto a task simply because that's the most obvious task at hand and ignore everything else if you want the job done right, and those other personnel still need things to do. That's why some things get done before others.

That isn't an "excuse". That's plain common sense.

Yes and no. Every thing has an order of magnitude associated with it, bugs even more so.

In my line of trade (sysadmin), if something breaks and it impacts the business, it is considered an incident and all hands must be on deck until the issue is resolved. That is what should've happened. They should've taken down the server, put everyone together, rotate schedule to work around the clock if needed, and get it fixed ASAP.

How is my post either overstatement or rumour-mongering? Most of my guild and my friends don't play anymore since mod 6 came out - FACT. And I know of a lot of others who have also quit. My post made no mention of knowing what Cryptic was doing or the exact problems they/we are experiencing. In fact my post did say I hoped the devs were going to sort everything out as I, and many others, would like to come back. Saying I have my doubts the game will be sorted out is hardly rumour-mongering, just a feeling I have which I sincerely hope turns out to be wrong.

I log into game and hop onto my cleric. He's lvl 70 with all boons open, etc. But I don't log on to play, noooooo. I can't, you see on the 23rd I decided to make him a dps hybrid so I respecced. For 8 days now I have not been able to do anything on him except pray and leadership because of the feat/boon bug.

So I decide I will hop on another 70 (that had the same bug but I paid 3 dollars to fix it from my wallet). I pick up the pvp daily and go into a match. I think everything is fine but no, a cleric comes down and starts spamming hammer of fate nonstop with a paladin spamming invincibility daily to their group. Not to mention the ICE KNIFE that keeps dropping on my head. Really??? The bug keeps continuing??!

I then say urgggghhh I will do a dungeon. I que up for Elol and immediately get a pop. Go in and 2 or 3 people sitting at lostmouth and the entrance to him is bugged so no one can fight him in that instance... I leave and wait a few minutes. I join another.. SAME THING I'm not joking.. So I say I will try it one more time. This time it starts me off at the beginning but with no tank or healer...( I know some might say "get a group together before you enter, but why does the system allow groups to be formed without a tank or healer??)

    I click exit game.

Cryptic are not posting exploit fixes in the patchnotes.

From reports I hear that a lot of effort has gone into fixing exploits that people were using to beat T2 dungeons, giving them more Protector seals than they should have. This obviously has been a high priority issue, even more important since they fixed the caches.

So I think the correct way to read this weks patchnotes really is:
    * A small amount of fixes they will tell us about
    * A huge amount of fixes on the exploits list that are not posted

Exploits are bad for the game, so be happy they are fixed.

Same thing (ELOL) happened to me last night.

I tried to Solo Q and practically every instance I was dropped into was A bugged one (At Drake, saying "Defeat Dragonsoul Veshal".

After a 5-6 such attempts I just waited for a Team in NW_Legit to be able to run this Dungeon (took some time to find a team at the time too)

    It's odd.

Don't even know why this happens (or maybe have an Idea)

Yeah right, you play a non tank class and still facetank scorpions. LOL. You wouldn't run into such issues if you were using fox's cunning or swap all that useless defense for more arpen, crit or power, because tanking isn't your job as a ranger. You're either buffing your team or doing enough damage so that the fight doesn't last 15 minutes, until someone does a fatal mistake.

Of course it's the game's fault if you didn't bring a proper tank or didn't think about not getting in front of the scorpion.

Yes, now it might be a bit too difficult. This leaves space for

Well, I did not experience lag more noticible than overall.

There has to be space to keep those 24/7 players and paying

My characters will never become BiS, eventually some purple
