The thing is with item lvl the difference in numbers is very small, but in fact it's huge. It's really hard to say if 2k vs 2.5k is fair or not, or 1.8k vs 2.2k. They've changed the entire system to hide it's flaws.

Yeah true. My char has decreased In item lvl so much that I would say mine is quite low atm but yet I'm twice as strong so it really is a bad design.

I suppose matchamaking would have to be done from the players items not just item lvl or some other way like wins/loss. I'm not sure.

I honestly think the matchmaking algorithm is fine, or let's say I have little evidence to prove the opposite. The system just doesn't have enough players to work with, so at a certain point it just matches up somebody to get a match done. That's the main problem that causes imbalance.

Now that we have GG PVP you should tweak matchmaking and make the Domination queue a solo one. If you can't get a match, because there are currently not enough equal players online, or want to play with friends, you can always do GG PVP without any matchmaking and leaver penalty.

I've seen quite a few people make the same point in favor of the matchmaking system. I bought into it myself for awhile. But realy, if the population is too low for the system to effectively work than why did they design a system for a game that it won't work with? Why not a system for a lower population.

Well one thing I just realized is the ranking system on the Leaderboard.

    Tyrant
    Dominator
    Supreme Dominator
    Overlord
    Invincible Overlord

Unless there is a premade group going in, I think that it may be a good idea to base the matching on the rank.

Though, one issue I see with that system is people will go up and down in rank quite often. If we do not know how the ranking system works, which I think is by total points earned. then we go from there.

I LOVE the gladiatorial concept... 1v1. They could have a class v class segment and the entrants can win a title... Siege Master for the winner of the GF's, Warlock Bane, Slayer of Thieves, God-killer for the winner of the DC segement...

I am finding rank SEEMS to have something to do with it. Inv.Ovlrd and you get the toughest matches. Overlord and you get some very even matches and a lot of lopsided ones in your favor. The even ones are split win/loss. My experience in mod 6 so far anyways.

Sweet ideas on the gladiator concept. Fix the glitches and bugs, add a bit more parity to the classes and some of the better ideas in this thread and my wallet magically happily opens.

Yeah in the past mod they used to work decent. Now though rank is broken currently. When this mod started i had 2 wins 2 losses first day and was tyrant. Atm I have 55 wins 13 losses and a 7/1 K/D ratio and still a tyrant lol.

Also they need to fix leaderboard and challenges. Triple and double kills in gg aren't counting :(

As I said it seems to be about total points earned during the matches... I rarely have a GG that is under 3000 points and in Dom the number is about 2000. I competed in 10 matches, mixed, and my level jumped from Tyrant to Dominator to Supreme Dominator...

It seems to be a double-edged sword. Focus on ONE dimension in PvP and your rank may not go up. Fight and cap... it will go up. Which is one of the reasons that I am rarely out of the top 3... with a K/D ratio of 1/3... but I cap and backcap like a madman.

Then I think mine is just broken and I will submit a ticket. I usually come top of gg and dom since i have fast mount and pvp spec. I never really go below 5-7k points in gg and about 3-6k in dom, sometimes higher depends on the game length.

But yeah my wins and K/D ratio are both good atm but my rank only went up to dominator once and then back down to tyrant :/

It worked fine in mod 5 though...

I think it's just broken atm, play gg and try to get a double kill, you can get many but it won't say on your screen "double kill" or even count as one.

Also GG leaderboards arent even showing, I have played about 50 games since this mod release and it says I have eplayed 0.

And 1st place on leaderbord is a guy with 4 wins 3 losses atm.....

I don't think any of it is working lol

I got one double kill in Dom and it did not count it. I got a second and it counted it. They are odd for me, so I notice. I did get one the other day in GG and I was shocked.

I was wondering that about the GG board.

I did notice that... when I have seen another guy who has a K/d ratio of 20 to 1 is a Tyrant with 55 wins and 13 losses.

Good: 2 sec. stealth reveal got introduced.

Really, really ugly: 2 sec. stealth reveal somehow is missing since a couple of builds back.

Other than that, no problems. I just hope they are going to put the highly needed stealth reveal back into the game, on the 23rd of april. Since TR without said mechanic is quite irritating/gamebreaking.

omg, yeah add 2 second reveal again ~_~ no regen, no stealth bonus. Other classes are killing me just fine. l2p

A TR player, who has to abuse broken game mechanics to be competitive... is telling other people to l2p? You TR people are quite a special breed.

One thing that sucked about looking to complete my PvP victory quest, yesterday, I played 7 times and won one. Every opposing team was a team of players that seemed to be pre-mades full of grandmasters. I do not know many players who could cap all 3 towers in the first 2 minutes of a match.

The only win I had was when I was teamed up with ^^^ and other highly skilled players... in one of the best GG's that I have been in.

The interesting thing is... they opposing teams were upset that we chose to sit on spawn to make the match end quickly. You can't get everything you want.

Well, that is one of a lot of reasons that some players asked for a tutorial to PvP... :) . If a player (anyone) doesn't know some basics, then, that player should not go into PvP.

I am skilled, considering that I have been playing this game for about 2 months and not focusing on PvP, IMHO...

When I see that people hide titles or are in PvP guilds I know that my team is in trouble. That is usually confirmed within 30 seconds to a minute. When a TR on the opposing team sneaks up on my team and kills us all before we can cap our home tower.

Instead of showing their oppressive dominance and gear, they could hold back a bit and allow the opposition to use their time to get some glory too. When a team dominates this completely, they do not get as much Glory as they would if their scores were higher. Having 1 to 3 kills and 100 cap points won't help as much as 2000 points and 6 kills.

Keeping it competitive makes everyone happy.

I have resigned to stay in the graveyard, if my entire team gets wiped in 1 minute. I believe that many people feel the same way when all 3 towers are capped and we are being camped within 2 minutes.

Stuff seems to show sometimes for me, sometimes it doesn't. But in both Dom and GG I am progressing through the tasks so it has to be working on some level, at least partially.

Ouch, hopefully I read this wrong^. This is why a forced tutorial is needed (if I'm getting the above correct).

This happened and the opposing team were all 'grandmaster of gladiators' at a minimum. Okay maybe it was not the whole team. 2 ran to mid and stopped short of sitting on mid.

A 'how to' tutorial will not help end that. It is a highly aggressive move that caught us all off guard. I watched mid light up then turn off... the next thing I know... I was dazed and dead.

    Good:

    -Fun combat
    -Rewards

    Bad:

-Only one real mode...where's my zombie apocalypse?

    Ugly:

    -Matchmaking Sytstem
-A small portion of the PvP player base and how they choose to interact with you, through slurs and bad digi-body language.

Let's be rivals, not enemies :)

So, in consideration of the topic, I will add that not having a tutorial for pvp of some sort is bad. Although a tutorial will not help the poor matchmaking that you mention in your post, it may help with the poor tactics you describe. Any more than 1 person going to your home node at the start of the match is generally acknowledged as a bad thing by the more serious pvp folks. This is usually a tip that if your team does this, you are pretty likely to lose. BUT, that is enough about the tactics I suppose. Cheers

Not putting your domination title out there for everyone to see can be a matter of personal taste. It is also an arguably tactical move to go butt naked into pvp.

As far as a rofltstomp, it is only honorable to let the stomped team cap some points, to ask for 1v1's and so on. Really making an effort to make pvp not suck for casual players (even when they lose) can only help bring more players into pvp overall.

Zerging the enemy base node can be highly effective. Many players for some reason do not even leave the camp fire for a full ten seconds after the gate goes down. That is a five second 5v4 in favor of the zerg. Even 5 on 5, few people are expecting that kind of aggression. I don't think it is unsportsmanlike move so much as straight forward aggression. It is pvp.

A tutorial would help in that every player would know that most of your team belongs at mid at the start with one on home node if that. Think about it. If you get zerged you at least delay them on 2 until home node is capped. If you stay on home node and get zerged you are looking at a wipe and three red nodes. If YOU zerg you are putting the lines of battle right at enemy spawn and pretty much have taken command of the entire field. Some of them die, some of your guys die. As their guys respawn they will go right to their home node. As your guys respawn they will cap home node and mid as they come in. At the worst you are looking at two blue nodes and a red. Could say well what if there are a bunch of bad asses on that enemy base node? Their won't be. Those kinds of players NEVER put their full team on home node.

    Things that are right:

Combat is insanely good, action packed and it DOES require skill!

Classes can be fun, all of them, if you spec for PvP.

Evenly-geared matches take a long time to finish and are a grind to the last second! FUN! :D

    Things that are wrong:

Undergeared chars shouldnt be fighting Uber geared players, c'mon, thats nonsense.

Most classes seem to have some kind of exploit to go for them, taking out all the fun (if yours doesnt, you didnt find it yet [and I can give you examples, if you want])

Maps are too simple, and too few, and havent changed since the game launched. I hate Rivenscar Ruins (they are huge but crappy as hell, since its just a 2way zone, no strat whatsoever), but thats just an oppinion, of course.

but in the end, the thing that is THE MOST wrong in PvP is the playerbase... most people just login, level up, go to PvP, do a couple matches and say "oh, this **** is OP, that thing is OP, Nerf this, Nerf that". I can certainly agree that there are SOME feats or mechanics that are broken or shouldnt work the same way in PvP as they do in PvE (oh cryptic, where did you hear this one?). But seriously, the crying is riddiculous... I have played most classes, (only one I havent is the GF) and I can win PvP matches in ALL of them, so dont freaking tell me its not the skill WHEN YOU DONT DO YOUR **** JOB in the match! Learn the rules, learn the tactics, learn how to kill this strat, how to counter that build, how to improve your damage, your CC, your DPS, whatever but in the end CAP THE FREAKING NODES!

Its not a matter of gear, in this case, I've seen many good geared chars being played like a 5year old, and crappy geared players (See naked matches) being GODS in the arena. Learn it! There's too much nonsense in "killing" players on the match, the bloodthirst is real, but it is called Domination... :)

And this is why I still play PvP and will still play PvP... even with few matches, even without Paying to have great stuff, and even with people using exploits and stuff...
Cuz in the end... you still have fun, if you know how to play the game! :D
