Hunter Ranger - Melee Weapon Use?

I cannot make a post yet and since you seem to understand the controls, could you please explain to me why I cannot use my blades as a hunter ranger? I am level 8 and I cannot figure it out, had a blast playing the game but not being able to use the blades is really making me mad.

The ability to switch to melee weapons becomes available at level 10.
