I mean, we are now playing in mod5, PLENTY of stuff are still broken.

How bout fixing the lag in taimat?
How bout fixing the broken TRs dailys?
How bout fixing Dcs sunburst?
How bout fixing undodgeable roots from the HR?
How bout removing the bots?

There are several other bugs that needs to be fixed to, this thing are are GAMEBREAKING and we have
to play with this for an entire mod? This isnt accepable, instead of fixing costmetics and junk in every patchnote pls
try to fix the stuff that matters first.

Because the development cycle does not work that way. The devs will not stop work on incoming content solely to "fix all the bugs". Furthermore, different teams of devs are responsible for different aspects of the game. Some work on battle systems, some work on graphics, some work on audio, and so on. When something is ready from a given team, it's patched into the game--that's why you'll usually see "cosmetic" fixes long before you'll see fixes for major stuff, because that team got their work done and ready. Some issues also take more time to fix than others.

i really hope module 6 is really that big overhaul module that we all awaited in pain and not simply increase refinement levels, add zone, dailies and heroic encounters. really hope for ...

That would be true if we could assume that any team is even working on fixing bugs. History says they patch the most urgent and easy-to-solve issues for 3-4 patches into a module and then move on. On the top of my head I can name 4 or 5 longstanding bugs starting with the M1 Malabog Castle 'shadow' lag on Radeon cards that probably never will get fixed because they lack manpower. Foundry being another major example. They are simply not working on it.

I wouldn't even be surprised if nobody currently working on the Tiamat fight although there are plethora issues going on. And Gcrush is busy with Paladin and level cap, don't tell me anybody else at this very moment is looking at the broken classes of M5... highly unlikely.

Agree. Yes some bugs do get fixed, but there are a lot more that just got left behind and never bothered with. Track record isn't exactly on Cryptic's side.

Tiamat is a prime example. If it's not fixed now, do you think it'll be fixed after mod 6 comes out? I doubt it. Besides, with several game breaking bugs in the encounter, in my opinion it should've been a take-the-server-down-and-fix-it-right-now kinda drill.

It is only natural to expect these kind of response, since people don't really know how game development works - how they set priorities, or how they schedule fixes, or how much time data mining requires.

In my case I've probably been closer to developers than most, so I have a good idea on what kind of modus operandi they operate under. I know for one, that developers don't fix stuff one-by-one on demand unless its a 'critical issue', and this only applies to literally 'critical' stuff, like crashes or malfunction. Sometimes even the most simplest looking fixes may be omitted or pushed to later date due to their strict, disciplinary development cycle. In most cases, gamedevs prefer to gather all the miniscule stuff and prefer to fix multiple issues at a time, since that's usually more time-efficient. Since most people don't know any of this, they tend to become impatient.

    ...

Having said that, some of the responses in this thread are ungrateful and despicable. Most of them probably are not even paying customers.

Cryptic will never and never has made bug fixes a priority over new content. They didn't in CoH and they certainly don't in CO and STO, so Neverwinter probably won't either. Actually I take that back, CoH wasn't bad (for Cryptic) but since they've been bought out by PWE, and they make money off of new content, new content always takes a priority.

You can see however how this can back fire on Neverwinter if you play STO. The game engine is so jacked up with bugs that have been in the game for 5 years now, that when they go to update certain things, these bugs compound and also make changing things hard to do, and tend to make STO a patchwork program that runs on duct tape and prayers.

Neverwinter will eventually become the same way would be my guess. It'll always work, but don't be surprised if the majority of the bugs are in Neverwinter 5 years from now and concidered "Working as Intended" simply because by that time they can't be fixed.

I'm on the Dev's side here having done NWN Classic Dev work before.

Somebody is always going to focus on why isn't what they want fixed already done before other issues/ projects.

They x (issues + areas on server + new content) = NUMBER x (characters online + what bosses want) / Devs + days they have to themselves = how long a single issue can take in days

Well, the math isn't exactly like that, but you can get an idea of how complex projecting when something would actually be ready or fixed. the actual time needed cannot be taken as people expect a specific day in time.. no.. a specific minute of an hour of a day in time when an issue is resolved, or new content released. This makes it stressful especially when you get people still crying over what shade of blue their pants turned out, or how their character cannot solo the HARDEST EPIC DUNGEON EVER but somehow need to still have everyone work with them.

On the player's side now - yes a few things can be addressed. Minor issues. I know when some minor things get fixed in favor of a big display of impressive programming and content - people notice. They really notice. Suddenly that out of the way skill node is accessible. suddenly that little flourish of the blade no longer goes backwards. Suddenly that shade of blue is just a little less shiney.

Keep logging and reporting those details, but please... don't keep bashing on everything the Devs haven't done. It's anti-motivational. It doesn't help them get done faster.
