Hunter ranger - chose it because i never usually play damage dealer in mmorpg (usually tank or support - buffer/healer).
Chose it because i thought i could build a sniper in pvp - yea that's a dream that may come true in like 3-4 mods, Archery hunter heavily behind in pvp but i do my best and try to get at least a bit of fun in this broken meta.
Finally considering why i play him - i am too sentimental - cant surrender and switch to other builds as that would mean i give up on it.
Start: gwf
just joining a guild: DC, we had lower gs before the gs inflation and DCs were more in demand (though it wasn't really something I wanted to play. I just didn't want to be let down by bad DCs when playing with randoms)
Slightly after up until now: CW, they became more in demand, and also are more fun to play too. They're really effective and it's easier to carry, not that most content needs it anymore.
Had I started now, I'd possibly pick a TR, though you risk them being nerfed (although for pvp do need it, but pvp needs a lot of things)
I started with an HR then progressed thru each of the other classes, mainly to learn how they worked. Currently, after I got my GF and SW to "good" gear stats, I'm working on the WoD stuff for my DC and CW. I don't really "main" any class but if someone held a gun to my head I'd have to say that, as of today, my main is a DC.
Cleric. Because I liked the outfit they show during character creation. I had no idea that the class was unloved by devs, and it was not that visible back then. It turned out I did well even back then when foundry quests had to have special easy mode for clerics (l2p issues if you ask me, but authors had to do it or they would get downrated by raging noo... ekhm, less experienced players), I like the playstyle, plus my char developed personality, so no way I'm abandoning her now.
GF:
I was always playing THE tank class in every game ( if it had more tank class, then I played most of them, at least to find the one fitting me the most, or just for fun when I maxed my main).
I always play rogue as main in every mmo so in nwo is TR.I want my character to have the ability to choose when to fight or not and stealth is something that i cant do without.

While I do play 'Old Zeb', my first CW, and Daxx Dae'Vesh, my first DC, the most... I do not truly have a "main" character. Each week, I pick one to three characters from my list of 28 characters and play that or those characters, for the most part, during that week. I have multiples of each class and some I even have multiples of the same paragon paths.
Since Alpha/Beta: Devoted Cleric.
Even before it was fun, cool, or neither.
Always has been, currently is, always will be. To me a "main" is not which one you're playing right now, it's the one you keep coming back to again and again, over and over more often than any other. I still have my original launch-character (the one I created when I had three days advanced access to the game). She's still kickin'.
And hey, I was DC *before* it was cool and definitely *before* it was fun. It's been a really painful last year and half. It feels great that my main and favorite class is loads of fun again.
All my other toons (one or two or three of each class) are just for diddling around, easily throw-away toons if ever needed. They're leveled and mostly invoker-profession-farmers (that's all those classes are good for anyway, night-nyuk, wink-wink.) They are fun to be sure, but I've always loved my DC. I have one in each Paragon path - AC/Faithful path is my favorite. Though the DO/Rightous only now feels like the Gods are finally sharing their power with us. Finally. Sheesh.
I don't really have a main. I tend to rotate around to each character somewhat equally. But my first and most equipped character is my wizard. I gota admit wizards are fun, no weapon, no armor, just the ability to walk into a room and make things fall down.
Plus nerd girls rule!

Yeah, my main throughout Alpha and Beta (following the movement casting change to CWs) had been my DC, Daxx. I've always loved her, even during the rough times. She was my 2nd Alpha character, first and only Beta Character and fourth created live character but second played. I created 6 characters right off the bat on day one but only played Old Zeb and Daxx for the longest time. It wasn't until about 6 months into live that I started making a ton of other characters.
Going by your standards for what constitutes a main, 'Old Zeb' would then be my main followed extremely closely by Daxx even though I still admit to finding the DC more enjoyable than the CW, even during the their trials and tribulations.
I play them all pretty equally, but probably like the GWF or TR the best, just for the quick animations. I get bored pretty quickly, playing any class, and switch often.
I tend to "Main" a character for a while until I get terminally board with it, so I have several:
First to stick with: GF. I built him for DPS and always had a surprisingly good time, even in PvP at the naidre of the class.
Then came the GWF. Feats for Offence, Geared for Defence. I enjoyed the faster play style and higher damage as compared to my GF.
Lastly is my SW. My favorite Ranged class so far, even in PvP (he actually tends to account well for himself against everyone but the bleeding edge "pros").
In between those I have played all of the classes to 60, most more than once and all but the DC and HR have progressed all the way through Sharendar, the Dread Ring, and at least enough of the Dale to get the Class Artifact.
Right now I am on a Neverwinter Break (I'm replaying all of the Dragon Age games along with all of the expansions and addons before hitting the latest. I expect to be finished and back to Neverwinter by June, at the latest ), so I don't have a "Main" at the moment.

My main character is a TR . i have alot of toons now but my TR is truly me. it allows me to play the way i want up close without lots of different strategies possible.
Initially i chose the TR as my first toon because i read the comic book collection "Drizzt" it was a awesome story about a TR's journey through all the neverwinter locations.
#*# Why do i have two blades? #*#
^^ Its just awesome^^
:cool::cool:
gwf; fighters is always my choice "number 1" when the game dont have a generic archer .
ps: when the ranger was created, there was too late.

When I first started playing, I was really into the melee classes - GFs, GWFs, TRs. I think I kind of burnt myself out on those, and now prefer ranged classes - SWs and CWs more recently. Playing a ranged class, IMO, is preferable, since I don't have to chase enemies around, and have better control how, where, and when to initiate combat.
My most recent CW, I feel, has better survivability than even my GFs...

My Rogues is my main since beta, but I have at least one of each class. I mostly play my TR, and the CW would be my second most played class I guess, but it depends on my mood really. I went through a phase a while back, when I played almost exclusively on my Cleric All classes are fun, in my opinion.

Rogue by two defintions -
Noun: a playfully mischievous person; scamp:
Adjective: no longer obedient, belonging, or accepted and hence not controllable or answerable; deviating, renegade
Both suit the half silver dragoness Di. She's never an outright Theif though! Just mostly a rogue with responsibilities.
The House servant here is a cleric. She's a nymph-souled golem, voluntarilly. It's a long story, but Thirty Two is happy with it.
" I tried to figure out the enigma that was you, and then I realized mastering Wild Magic was easier." - Old Wizard in Waterdeep
"Why is it dragons only use ketchup? I'd like a little wasabi please. Us silvers like a variety of condiments."
"Don't call them foolish mortals. One, they don't learn from it. Two, It just ticks them off." - An Ancient Red Dragon
I started as a GF and that was my main for a long time, but now I can't really say I have a "main", I play with all classes, it mostly depends on mood, class changes, content etc.
Control Wizard, because I always choose a wizard as my main in any game and because there did not seem to be a Thermonuclear Inferno Destruction Wizard on the list of choices. Maybe that one is in the pipeline...
gwf, coz I got deceived by all the Close Beta videos on Youtube. Of course with hindsight I'd have chosen just any other class. Well it's not my main anymore in term of play time, it's more my highest-geared char. Nowadays I usually play with my CWs.
TR. My first class period was the DC I made in closed beta, but then I made a TR. I've played others for a while, sort of 'mained' them, but I always end up back on Veldrin.
My first and main is TR since beta. I enjoy the active rolling about and taking chances in close combat, the reason why I have never slotted Impossible to Catch in PVE ever. I like to remind myself I'm vulnerable and push myself to play better as a TR.
Sticking with my TR through the long slump was not easy, and I even took a break from halfway through mod 5 where the dailies grind got extremely tedious for the class, and waited for the rework to hit. Thankfully, the rework didn't disappoint.
CW and SW.
I always play as mage or tanks, mostly mages, on nw Mage is a joke, mage/sorcerer/warlock, was supossedly to me very high damage also magic are supossedly to be all arcane source, but here it's just an element,(huge fail) also magic supossedly to ignore AC and any resistence when hit wich here, a armor can defend a magic(no idea where the devs took that idea, i mean wich difference will make an armor against lighting or fire or ice.etc..) other stupid idea was making a Rogue as the top damage dealer, wich belongs to Barbarians, balanced with low resistences, here we have a huve damage on a immune class(keep in mind that rogues rely on bleed to bring damage wich is dot) so anyway this game is a huge fail for magic users, but i like to play as mages but i gave up on my CW because it was so stupidly wrong magic mechanics. sorry for the bad english.
TR because is my first class, however i no longer have fun with it from mod 3 when i realized that no matter how they can change the class you will have to abuse stealth to be effective.
To explain it better, the class is built around stealth and not viceversa.
so i m actually think to myself more as a HR player

Hunter Ranger. I have always played the Ranger class in D&D and when the Arcane Archer was released I switched to that. I have always played bow-wielding classes in games. Had a main Hunter in WoW and when I heard about NW and the HR class it was the obvious choice for me and I liked it so much I created another HR.

Most versatile class in the entire game.
One of the many Control Wizards that misses Shard Of The Endless Avalanche. RIP Shard (Beta-Mod3)
