TL:DR PW the parent of PWE is going to potentially go private instead of public.

It is interesting. Maybe he's wealthy enough that he'd rather own his company outright, and now have to worry about be held responsible to shareholders.
Perhaps he was in the shower one morning and decided, "Screw the money and the shareholders. I just want to finance great games!"
I think this is something companies do when they no longer foresee making big investments in their business. You'd look foolish going private if you needed to issue new stock in a year. Although, I don't know whether gaming companies do finance new titles with stock issues.
Perhaps they will sell Cryptic or perhaps the focus will change from expensive MMOs to cheap mobile games. I don't think it's bad news for Neverwinter -- if anything, it's good news -- but, if you're a fan of Cryptic and hoping for a new MMO from them... it's ominous.
...or, you buy the company back at a reasonable price, squeeze profit out of everything as fast as possible with no care about long term consequences, then retire and sell the company at an artificially inflated net worth.
-- if anything, it's good news -- but, if you're a fan of Cryptic and hoping for a new MMO from them... it's ominous.
Not really, i remember them stating they already started developing another mmo. Right after Neverwinter launch. Sadly, i cannot find the video in which this was stated, anymore. I believe it was one of the longer Q&A videos with Andy Velasquez. (correct me if i'm wrong, don't wanna spread false information)
