Hotkeys flaw

That's the first RPG kind of game where you have more combat powers than you have Hotkeys, while in every other modern game you can even spam whole hotbars all over your screen.

Before you start White Knighting... I know that the game was made like this because the devs didn't care to make any differences between the PC and console version, and consoles' controllers have a very limited amount of buttons, so the amount of hotkeys that currently exist match perfectly the amount of buttons in the controller of a console...

But if you are playing on master race PC and, therefore, having no such limitation... Having to open panels, scroll down, search for stuff, drag stuff to your hot bar, etc every now and then just so that you won't feel like the points you spent on those unused powers were wasted...

That's really stupid. Not only it forces you to underuse powers (and therefore waste points for nothing), but also just makes your life more difficult, without actually adding any difficulty in the "challenging" aspect of the game (which would be cool). Only in the "patience to open windows, scroll down and drag and drop manually 1995-style" aspect.

And of course... Not happy with that... The game forces you to have all the useless powers you can't fit in the hotbar, instead of letting you just upgrade to level 3 those few that you are really going to use. That's really frustrating :(

There's actually 44, if not more, mappable keys for a controller. Once you get to 60, you earn overflow experience and every time your overflow experience fills up, you get a random chance at another power point. Eventually, you'll be able to max out all your skills. As for those skills being unused, I disagree. I often swap in and out several abilities and features depending on the content I am doing.

From the beginning when I first started playing this game a few months ago, I didn't think of it as any sort of platform limitation at all; I thought of it as more of a strategy thing. You have to be more mindful of your power setup instead of just being able to use anything at any time. Does it make sense from my character's perspective? Nope, not at all. He knows all those abilities; he can use any of them any time he wants. I have to slot certain ones for me to tell him to use which is weird, but it's still kind of cool because the gameplay here is a lot easier than many others so it introduces some more difficulty. Sure you can stop and swap powers if you want, but you'll be vulnerable, so if you think ahead of time about what you need in which situation you have an advantage.

It would be really really nice if we could have a couple of different bars though, say one for PvP, one for Soloing, and on for running in a party or whatever. That way I wouldn't have to spend as much time swapping powers when I enter a dungeon or when I switch from fighting cultists around a dragon to fighting the actual dragon itself. I'm sure many of people have had this idea before, but I want to say it again because we should really have it. It's just a quality of life issue and they could even make me pay 5 dollars for it or something and I totally would.

Neverwinter definitely makes you think very carefully about what to put on that hotbar. It is a very simple action combat game. I would love hotkeys to even switch out preset hotbar templates, but thats not what this game is. Part of being good at it is having an optimized rotation and so on.

you can always play wow and bind 500 skills

if ill want to play piano ill play the **** piano not a mmorpg

i find this awesome that they dont make you to use 25257892 keybinds and tie your fingers in a knot and grow another arm to reach them, though it sucks that you cant make few setups to switch for aoe/boss/pvp or so on
